Jerome Simpson caught 3-of-10 targets for 34 yards in the 49ers' Week 8 loss to the Rams.
Activated off the suspended list last weekend, Simpson made his season debut and led the 49ers in targets on a day Anquan Boldin (hamstring) was inactive. This offense is horrific, and Simpson is the No. 3 receiver. He's well off the fantasy radar. Sun, Nov 1, 2015 06:22:00 PM

49ers activated WR Jerome Simpson from the reserve/suspended list.

Simpson's suspension ended last week but the Niners chose not to activate him for Thursday's game against Seattle. A roster spot opened up for him Friday when San Francisco placed SS Antoine Bethea on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Simpson figures to settle in as the No. 3 receiver behind Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith. With Colin Kaepernick struggling, it's unlikely Simpson will become fantasy relevant.

The 49ers have opted not to activate suspended WR Jerome Simpson for Week 7.

The Niners have until 4ET Friday to add Simpson to the active roster. Per CSN Bay Area, "all indications" are that they will do so. Simpson is obviously off the radar in all formats of fantasy.

Jerome Simpson is eligible to return from suspension this week.

The 49ers will have to make a roster move to place Simpson on the active roster. Simpson is unlikely to fall into fantasy value, but he could force Quinton Patton to the bench.

NFL suspended 49ers WR Jerome Simpson six games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Another week, another off-the-field issue for the 49ers. It's also another year, another suspension for Simpson, who has now been banned three separate times for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Simpson is eligible to return in Week 7, but we'd imagine the (hopefully) image-conscious 49ers will cut him loose. Simpson has always offered appeal as a deep threat, but can't keep his life in order off the field enough to contribute on it. He turns 30 in February.

49ers signed WR Jerome Simpson to a two-year contract.

It's a flier for a team with an uncertain situation at receiver. Now 29, Simpson served a three-game suspension for (again) violating the league's policy on substance abuse last season, and was cut loose by the Vikings before his ban was through. Simpson has always been a competent deep threat, but that won't be enough to guarantee a spot on the 49ers' 53-man roster.

The 49ers hosted free agent WR Jerome Simpson on Wednesday.

Simpson spent 2014 out of football after the Vikings cut him in September. In his prime, he was a maddeningly inconsistent deep threat. Simpson just turned 29 and should have some speed left, but would be a role player at best.

Vikings released WR Jerome Simpson.

Simpson's three-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy was set to end on Monday, but it was revealed Thursday that he was busted on marijuana and alcohol charges in July. Simply stunning immaturity from a 28-year-old receiver who's dealt with various legal issues throughout his NFL career. Simpson is a competent deep threat, but has had trouble staying on the field thanks to his bans. Considering the current climate for NFL troublemakers, he's unlikely to find a new home any time soon.

Suspended Vikings WR Jerome Simpson has a November 3 court date on misdemeanor charges related to a July 7 traffic stop.

Simpson has been charged with violating a limited license, marijuana possession and having an open alcohol container. It's truly dunderheaded behavior for a player who can't stop getting arrested or suspended. Simpson's current ban is scheduled to last only one more game, but considering the current climate of NFL discipline, that could change in a hurry.

NFL suspended Vikings WR Jerome Simpson three games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Simpson was in New York appealing the ban two weeks ago, apparently to no avail. It's not a huge loss, as Simpson has tumbled down the depth chart to No. 4. Cordarrelle Patterson, Greg Jennings, and Jarius Wright are Minnesota's top three wideouts. Simpson's suspension is the result of a November DUI.

Vikings WR Jerome Simpson failed to haul in his lone target against the Chiefs Saturday night.

Simpson only has two catches for 25 yards this preseason. He is clearly the No. 4 receiver behind Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson and Jarius Wright. Simpson likely faces a three-game suspension to start the season.

Vikings WR Jerome Simpson is facing a three-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Simpson was in New York Monday afternoon for his appeal hearing. The three-game ban stems from Simpson's November arrest for DUI when he refused to complete a breathalyzer test. He later pleaded guilty to reckless driving. Simpson is a repeat offender after he was busted on felony drug charges in 2012.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press suggests Vikings WR Jerome Simpson could face a four-game suspension stemming from his November 9 DUI.

The NFL typically lets teams know about suspensions before training camp, so we'd expect to hear something by July. A Simpson suspension would clear the path for Cordarrelle Patterson to emerge as Minnesota's primary "X" wideout, with Greg Jennings and Jarius Wright sharing snaps at "Z" and slot receiver.

Jerome Simpson is not in line to start this season.

Second-year breakout candidate Cordarrelle Patterson will be the "X" receiver and Greg Jennings will be the "Z." Simpson was re-signed to a one-year, minimum salary contract to be the No. 3 receiver and run the vertical clear-out routes needed in a Norv Turner offense. He's a poor bet to surpass last year's 48-726-1 line.

Vikings re-signed WR Jerome Simpson to a one-year contract.

He's a player the Vikings just can't quit. Simpson is presumably back on another one-year deal. Simpson returns as the Vikings' No. 3 wideout, and should primarily run opposite Cordarrelle Patterson on the outside, allowing Greg Jennings to operate out of the slot. Yardage-wise, Simpson is coming off a career year, but will remain no more than a WR5 for fantasy purposes in 2014.
