Jaguars released CB Antwaun Molden.
The move clears a roster spot for Marcus Trufant. Molden was active for just three games last season, and played zero snaps on defense. The journeyman former third-round pick will look to latch on elsewhere as a camp flier. Tue, May 7, 2013 03:04:00 PM

Jaguars re-signed CB Antwaun Molden.

Molden spent three games on the Jags' roster last season, making one tackle. He'll fight for one of Jacksonville's final roster spots in camp.

The Raiders worked out free agent DBs Antwaun Molden, Darius Butler, Cletis Gordon and Kevin Thomas on Tuesday.

The Raiders also kicked the tires on free agent OT Patrick Brown. Oakland is very thin at cornerback after sending Ronald Bartell to injured reserve last week. Molden appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots last season, while Butler made six starts for Carolina.

Giants released or waived CB Antwaun Molden, TE Ryan Purvis, DT Carlton Powell, DB Chris Horton, WR Julian Talley, WR Brandon Collins, TE Christian Hopkins, DB Brandon Bing, DB Jojo Nicolas, RB Joe Martinek, T Joel Reinders and DT Oren Wilson.

The Giants are banged up at the corner spot, but Molden just isn't an option there anymore. The 2008 third-rounder had his athleticism sapped by a string of leg injuries.

Giants signed CB Antwaun Molden, formerly of the Patriots.

The G-Men were the most active team in football on Wednesday, signing Molden and OT Sean Locklear while trading for WLB Keith Rivers and working out Rutgers WR Mohamed Sanu. Molden, 27, recorded nine special teams tackles last season. He's not a candidate for many snaps in the secondary.

Free agent CB Antwaun Molden will visit the Giants on Monday and Seahawks on Wednesday.

They will be Molden's first two visits of free agency. A "league source" (likely Molden's agent) also tells Scout.com he's drawing interest from four other teams, including the Bucs. Molden played 306 snaps for New England's 31st ranked pass defense last season, generally struggling in coverage while making 36 tackles and two interceptions. He won't be signed as a starter.

Patriots claimed CB Antwaun Molden off waivers from the Texans.

Molden, 26, ran 4.44 with a 37-inch vertical at 6-foot-1, 200 during the 2008 Combine, but his performance never matched his athleticism in Houston. Injuries didn't help, and he'll only get a brief kick of the tires from the Pats.

Texans waived CB Antwaun Molden.

The 2008 third-rounder never started a game for Houston, failing to transfer his immense athletic gifts to the football field. A series of leg injuries played a major part as well. Also waived by the Texans: SS Antonio Baker, FS Maurice Rolle, and CB Jason Teague.

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain thinks Texans CB Antwaun Molden could be a candidate for release this summer.

Heading into the final year of his rookie deal, the 2008 third-round pick has yet to start an NFL game, and has just 28 tackles and zero interceptions in 32 career games. A special teamer, he won't be a part of the Texans' revamped secondary if he's brought back.

Texans CB Antwaun Molden is finally fully recovered from the lower-body injuries that plagued his first two seasons.

Molden was a kickoff coverage dynamo as a rookie, but never got healthy after breaking his ankle in Week 15 of 2008. Still offering upside both on special teams and defense, he'll be given every opportunity to play a sizable role.

Texans placed CB Antwaun Molden (quadriceps) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Molden ends his second straight season on I.R. A third-round pick out of Eastern Kentucky a year ago, Molden hasn't developed into more than a special teams performer. He'll return in 2010 to battle for a roster spot.

The Texans have removed CB Antwaun Molden (ankle) from the active/PUP list.

Molden's slow recovery from a late-season ankle fracture probably has him behind both rookies Brice McCain and Glover Quin at this point in camp. A third-round pick in 2008, Molden's ticketed for special teams this season.

Texans CB Antwaun Molden (broken ankle) is not expected to be ready before training camp.

This will hurt his bid to be Houston's nickel back. With Dunta Robinson and Petey Faggins headed to free agency, the Texans will have to go about their offseason business with the mindset that Molden won't contribute early on.

Texans CB Antwaun Molden fractured his ankle in Sunday's win. He will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Houston had high hopes for Molden in training camp, but the physically gifted third-round rookie never got higher on the depth chart than a dime back. Assuming the Texans give Dunta Robinson a deserved contract extension in the offseason, Molden won't be higher than a third cornerback in 2009.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak said he plans to get rookie CB Antwaun Molden involved in the defense soon.

"I think you’re going to see him start to get some reps," Kubiak said. "Whether it’s this week, I don’t know yet." Molden has been limited to special teams this year, but the former Eastern Kentucky star has come a long way in his development.
