Rams re-signed DE William Hayes to a three-year, $10.5 million contract.
It's a nice keep for the Rams. Hayes had a career year in St. Louis in 2012 with seven sacks as a rotational lineman, and he likely could have gotten a chance to start elsewhere had he hit the open market. Hayes will be the No. 3 end with the Rams. Coach Jeff Fisher likes to kick him inside on passing downs. Mar 12 - 3:18 PM

MLive.com reports the Lions are expected to make a heavy push for free agent DE William Hayes, and are one of several teams "actively pursuing" him.

Beat writer Anwar Richardson believes Hayes is the Lions' No. 2 target after Reggie Bush. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Sunday that Hayes was unlikely to re-sign with St. Louis. A five-year veteran who has experience in coach Jim Schwartz's system, Hayes would make a lot of sense for a team that's likely to lose Cliff Avril and Sammie Lee Hill in free agency.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the market for free agent DE William Hayes is expected to be "much higher" than the Rams are willing to pay.

Hayes had a career year in 2012 as the Rams' No. 3 end, and he's likely looking to capitalize by finding a team that will allow him the chance to start. That's not going to be in St. Louis with Robert Quinn and Chris Long entrenched as starters. A team like the Lions would make a lot of sense for Hayes.

Coach Jeff Fisher says the Rams want to re-sign free agent DE William Hayes.

Hayes came over from the Titans to rejoin Fisher in 2012 and had the best year of his career. He played all 16 games and recorded a career-high seven sacks off the bench. The Rams' website recently called re-signing Hayes a "must."

Rams beat writer Nick Wagoner believes re-signing DE William Hayes is a "must."

Hayes is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The soon-to-be 28-year-old enjoyed a career year with the Rams after coming over from the Titans prior to the season. He registered 35 tackles and set a new career-best with seven sacks while working in behind starters Robert Quinn and Chris Long. Pro Football Focus graded Hayes out as the ninth-best run-stopping 4-3 defensive end, too.

Coach Jeff Fisher revealed that DE William Hayes underwent an offseason shoulder "procedure."

"He's not quite 100 percent," said Fisher, "but he will be there very quickly." Hayes had issues with his labrum and rotator cuff after sustaining an injury in the season opener last year. He'll be a rotational end in St. Louis.

Rams signed DE William Hayes to a one-year contract.

Hayes, 27 in May, flashed starting capability when healthy with the Titans, but never developed into a quality pass rusher. The former fourth-round small-school draft pick appears to have plateaued as a power end at 6-foot-3, 272. Hayes may compete for playing time with Robert Quinn in training camp, and be replaced by Quinn on pass-rushing downs in St. Louis.

The Titans are "still talking" with free agent DE William Hayes.

Hayes has a visit lined up with the Rams and has drawn some interest from the Broncos, but it's doubtful either team will offer significantly more money than the Titans. He'll be a reserve wherever he ends up.

Free agent DE William Hayes is scheduled to visit the Rams and Broncos.

Hayes, 27, was the Titans' starting left defensive end in 2010 under new St. Louis coach Jeff Fisher before falling out of Tennessee's line rotation in a new scheme last season. A power player, Hayes goes 6-foot-3, 272 and would be a solid depth addition behind Chris Long for the Rams. The Broncos could use Hayes to back up Robert Ayers on the strong side.

The Titans will meet with the player rep for free agent DE William Hayes on Saturday.

The Titans were initially expected to move on from Hayes and Jason Jones up front, but they've shown interest in retaining both free agents. Hayes is coming off an uneven age-26 season, grading out slightly below average across the board in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

Titans DE William Hayes suffered a shoulder injury in the team's Week 1 loss to Jacksonville.

It's believed Hayes suffered the injury in the first quarter but returned. He had two tackles and a sack. Hayes conceded after the game that the shoulder was "killing" him, and he's going for testing. Hayes started with Derrick Morgan and Jason Jones both on the shelf. It looks like the Titans' top three defensive ends are all now injured, though Jones is getting close to a return.

Titans DE William Hayes suffered a concussion Sunday when an errant pass from Kerry Collins struck him in the head.

Concussions aren't a laughing matter, but this is a microcosm of the Titans' tailspin. Hayes was just standing in the wrong spot on the sideline when Collins overthrew a receiver.

Titans LE WIlliam Hayes left Sunday's Week 5 contest against the Cowboys with an apparent head injury.

Hayes' status is unknown, though the team has to be hoping he didn't suffer a concussion. More to come.

Titans LE William Hayes (knee) will make his season debut in Week 3, but RE Jacob Ford (knee) has been ruled out.

Rookie Derrick Morgan appears ticketed for the start at right end, and the first-round pick could keep the job after showing well off the bench in Weeks 1 and 2. Hayes is Tennessee's best run stopping end. Ford figures to be the top reserve and nickel rusher when he returns to health.

Titans LE William Hayes (knee) is expected to return to game action this week.

The Titans are leading the NFL in pass defense through two games, and Hayes' return should be a boost to the run defense as well. Hayes will likely step right in for Jacob Ford, whose status is in doubt with a knee sprain.
