Ravens re-signed WR Marcus Smith to a one-year, $600,000 contract.

It's the vet minimum for a player entering his fourth NFL season. Smith, 26, only played 10 snaps on offense all last year and made three special teams tackles. Lacking in offensive upside, he'll be in a dog fight for a roster spot.

Smith was purely a special teamer last season. The Ravens also withdrew their tender to Jalen Parmele, leaving us to wonder if the players showed up to camp in football shape.

Ravens WR Marcus Smith (ACL tear) admitted that he's still feeling pain in his surgically repaired knee.

Smith is looking to stick on the roster as the No. 5 receiver and special teamer. If healthy, he's more effective in that role than Demetrius Williams and David Reed.

MRI results confirmed the Ravens' suspicions that WR Marcus Smith suffered a torn ACL Thursday night.

Smith is set to undergo surgery with Dr. James Andrews, and the Ravens' receiver corps grows even thinner. Coaches praised Smith's work ethic all offseason, but he had to stand out in camp. Deep Dynasty leaguers can cut bait on Smith as Justin Harper moves into the No. 4 receiver role, with Kelley Washington hot on his heels.

Ravens WR Marcus Smith suffered a serious knee injury in Thursday's preseason opener against the Redskins.

Smith will undergo an MRI Friday morning, but initial indications aren't positive. Coach John Harbaugh said he fears it's a torn ACL. Smith, last year's fourth-rounder, was battling Justin Harper for the No. 4 receiver role.

With Demetrius Williams sidelined, Ravens second-year WR Marcus Smith lined up as a starter Monday when the team went three-wide.

Smith lined up with Derrick Mason and Justin Harper. Williams is just nursing a sore hamstring, so Smith likely won't be with the starters for long. The Ravens don't exactly go three-wide very often so it's unlikely Smith would have much value anyway.

Ravens second-year receiver Marcus Smith recently dropped 10 pounds because he was dealing with cramping.

He also left a practice limping late last week. Smith was poised to take over the third receiver job while Derrick Mason was still "retired," but has moved back down the depth chart. He's probably not going to play much this year.

Marcus Smith is expected to be the Ravens' third receiver behind Demetrius Williams and Mark Clayton if Derrick Mason follows through on retiring.

That means Smith is ahead of Justin Harper, Kelley Washington, and Yamon Figurs, although the Ravens don't go three wide often. OC Cam Cameron likes Smith's size, but the '08 fourth-rounder didn't catch a pass as a rookie.

Marcus Smith is the favorite to be Baltimore's fourth receiver this season.

He hasn't impressed the local scribes, but Smith is a good bet to make the club this season. The guys in front of him - Derrick Mason, Mark Clayton, and Demetrius Williams - all face injury concerns, so Smith could work his way onto the field with a big training camp.
