Colts RG Mike McGlynn triggered an escalator in his contract, raising his 2013 salary from $1.25 million to $1.5 million.
McGlynn signed a two-year deal as a free agent last offseason, coming over from the Eagles with GM Ryan Grigson. He went on to start all 16 games at right guard, but he proved to be a major part of the Colts' offensive line problem. "I'm ready to go this week," said McGlynn, "excited about the first game and getting this season started." Part of an overhauled interior along with LG Joe Reitz and C Samson Satele, McGlynn is practicing without limits.

McGlynn was competing with Winston Justice for right tackle duties, but this should just about wrap up the competition in Justice's favor. McGlynn is in a race against time to be ready for Week 1. McGlynn is a highly ordinary talent, but the Colts' thin line can ill afford any injuries.

Taking on a leadership role after Jeff Saturday's exit, Mike McGlynn is penciled in as the starting right guard on a rebuilt Colts offensive line.

McGlynn and RT Winston Justice are favorites of new GM Ryan Grigson, who imported them from Philly. With 2011 second-rounder Ben Ijalana still inexperienced and recovering from a knee injury, Joe Reitz has the edge at left guard. Samson Satele and Anthony Castonzo are locked in at center and left tackle respectively.

Colts agreed to terms with C/G Mike McGlynn.

This move has new GM Ryan Grigson's fingerprints all over it. He was director of college scouting when the Eagles drafted McGlynn out of Pittsburgh as a 2008 fourth-round pick. McGlynn could end competing for a starting job in Indy.

Bengals claimed C/G Mike McGlynn off waivers from the Eagles.

The Colts, Rams, and Ravens also put in claims. A fourth-year player out of Pitt, McGlynn started all 16 games in place of Jamaal Jackson at center last season. He'll add quality depth as an inside swingman for the Bengals.

McGlynn held his own as a run blocker while filling in for Jamaal Jackson last season. He was expected to compete for a starting interior job at the beginning of camp, but was quickly passed by rookie and OL coach Howard Mudd favorite Jason Kelce.

Eagles C/G Mike McGlynn is expected to move into a backup role this year, "assuming no injury setbacks" to Jamaal Jackson.

Jackson is coming off a torn triceps last year after tearing his ACL the year before. McGlynn proved capable as a run blocker in 2010, but struggled in pass protection. Now 100 percent healthy, Jackson will upgrade the interior along with first-round RG Danny Watkins.

Mike McGlynn will be the Eagles' starting center for the rest of the season with Jamaal Jackson (ACL tear) on injured reserve.

Though Jackson is hard to replace, early signs for McGlynn are encouraging. Playing the majority of Week 1, he held up quite well against a Green Bay defense that led the league in 2009 run defense, with LeSean McCoy getting plenty of up-the-gut holes. It's not a huge downgrade for McCoy's sake.

Eagles OL Mike McGlynn is expected play "a lot" in Sunday's opener against the Packers.

McGlynn will see snaps behind C Jamaal Jackson, as well as rotate in at guard behind Nick Cole and Todd Herremans. Should McGlynn play a majority of the game at center, take it as a sign that Jackson is not 100% recovered from his torn ACL.

Mike McGlynn will start the Eagles' preseason opener at center with Nick Cole (knee) sidelined.

McGlynn is actually the No. 3 center, as Jamaal Jackson (ACL surgery) will take the job once ready. Still, it's a big chance for McGlynn to prove he deserves more opportunities. The 2008 fourth-round pick has been inactive on Sundays for much of his career, but was outplaying Cole even before the injury.

McGlynn played tackle early in his Pittsburgh career, but kicked inside as a senior and earned first-team All-Big East accolades. He also has experience at center. McGlynn will be a utility reserve lineman as a rookie.
