Quintin Demps is the leading candidate for the Giants' third safety role.

The Giants have moved on from Will Hill, leaving Demps as the favorite for snaps in three-safety packages. Stevie Brown and Antrel Rolle are locked in as the starters. Demps had 35 tackles and four interceptions in a rotational role with the Chiefs last season. He's spent the majority of his career as a deep safety, but the Giants plan to use him closer to the line of scrimmage. Demps will be pushed by fourth-round S Nat Berhe.

Giants signed S/KR Quintin Demps, formerly of the Chiefs.

The Giants have found their kick returner after striking out on Ted Ginn and Jacoby Jones. Demps finished third in the league with his 30.1 kickoff return average, bringing one back to the house. He shouldn't play much defense with the G-Men but does have experience and is a quality depth player.

Chiefs signed S Quintin Demps, formerly of the Texans.

Demps, 28 next month, recorded 35 tackles and five pass breakups in 12 games with the Texans last season as a backup. He has never started a game in his five-year career since being a fourth-round pick of the Eagles. Demps will compete for a roster spot behind safeties Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis.

Texans S Quintin Demps (broken forearm) is expected to return to game action on Sunday.

Demps has been out since Week 4. He's wearing a pad on his left forearm and a cast over his right thumb, which was broken the week before his forearm injury. He had been playing in nickel and third-down packages early in the season.

Texans S Quintin Demps has undergone surgery after breaking his forearm, and is out indefinitely.

The injury is not season-ending, but Demps will miss "some time." The Texans' third safety, Demps was already playing through a broken thumb. Second-year pro Shiloh Keo should see an uptick in snaps in Demps' absence.

Texans re-signed S Quintin Demps.

Demps was non-tendered, so the Texans are getting him back at a cheaper rate. The four-year veteran played roughly 25 percent of the defensive snaps last season as a backup and special teamer.

The Texans failed to tender restricted free agent S Quintin Demps, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Demps was signed as an injury replacement last season, so this isn't overly surprising. A fourth-round pick by the Eagles back in 2008, Demps has also had a stop in the CFL. He's a fringe NFL talent and will, at least, remain on NFL teams' emergency lists.

Texans re-signed S Quintin Demps.

One of the Texans final cuts, Demps was signed as veteran insurance with only rookies Shiloh Keo and Brandon Harris behind starter Troy Nolan now that Danieal Manning (fibula) is out for at least a month.

Texans waived or released S Quintin Demps, S Shiloh Keo, S Torri Williams, LB Xavier Adibi, LB Mister Alexander, LB Steven Friday, LB Stanford Keglar, LB Matt Marcorelle, DT Scooter Berry, DT Guy Miller and DE John Graves.

Demps signed with the Texans last December after being released by the Eagles before Week 1. Active just 11 times since the end of the 2008 season, he could be at the end of the line.

Texans signed S Quintin Demps, formerly of the Eagles.

Demps failed his audition as Brian Dawkins' successor last season. The 2008 fourth-rounder will start his career anew as a special teamer behind Bernard Pollard, Eugene Wilson, and Troy Nolan.

The Titans worked out free agent DBs Quintin Demps and Macho Harris on Tuesday.

In addition to the former Eagles' starters, the Titans also worked out 2009 Browns' second-round LB David Veikune and former Saints DE Bobby McCray.

Eagles waived S Quintin Demps.

The surprise isn't that Demps is gone, it's that both Demps and Macho Harris are gone. Kurt Coleman will be the third safety behind Nate Allen and Quintin Mikell. The Rams are short on safeties, and likely to give Demps a look.

Eagles S Quintin Demps is expected to be fine after suffering a knee sprain in the team's preseason opener.

He'll miss a few days of practice, but this shouldn't cost the speedy special teamer a roster spot. Demps will open the season as Philly's third safety.

The Eagles' initial diagnosis for S Quintin Demps' Friday night injury is a knee sprain.

An MRI could reveal more damage. He's probably having one tonight.
