Bears signed SS Quintin Demps to a three-year, $13.5 million contract with $5 million guaranteed.
Going on age 32, Demps has been an NFL late bloomer who spent most of his early years playing special teams before emerging as an impact starter in Houston the past two seasons. A playmaker on the ball, Demps set a career high with six interceptions in 2016 and has forced a whopping 18 turnovers the past four years combined. He will slide in as a starter across from Adrian Amos. Mar 9 - 11:58 AM

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports the Texans and impending free agent S Quintin Demps have yet to open contract negotiations.

Negotiations usually do not kick into high gear until the Combine, but it is somewhat surprising considering Demps has already said he wants to re-sign with the Texans. "You never know with this league," Demps said of his future. "I'm just grateful to be in a good position right now and just kind of hit it up in the offseason and take it one day at a time." The veteran has played on a one-year deal each of the last five years with three of those in Houston. Coming off a six-interception season, Demps should be looking for a multi-year contract.

Free agent S Quintin Demps wants to re-sign with the Texans.

Demps has been a starter the last two years in Romeo Crennel’s defense. There should be a market for Demps coming off a six-interception season, so he's hardly a lock to return. Demps has been playing on one-year deals, but he should land a multi-year contract this offseason.

Texans FS Quintin Demps (hamstring) is inactive for the Divisional Round against the Patriots.

Demps is a journeyman, but was playing well down the stretch. It's a big loss for the Texans as they try to pull one of the biggest upsets in NFL history. Going on 32, Demps is headed to free agency.

Texans S Quintin Demps (calf) has been ruled out for Week 7.

It's the second straight game he'll miss. Corey Moore will make another start in his place.

Texans S Quintin Demps will have an MRI on his injured calf.

Demps suffered the injury early in the Week 5 loss to the Vikings and never returned. CB Kareem Jackson was inactive with a hamstring injury, and CB Johnathan Joseph left the game with a concussion. The Texans secondary is extremely banged up heading into a matchup with the Colts Week 6.

Texans re-signed S Quintin Demps to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

According to the Houston Chronicle's John McClain, the Texans wanted to re-sign Demps "all along." Demps was an effective stopgap during his age-30 season in 2015, playing 778 competent snaps, mostly at free safety. Ideally, he'd be the Texans' No. 3 for 2016.

Quintin Demps is listed as the starting strong safety on the Texans' updated depth chart.

It was believed Eddie Pleasant had won the job. If Demps holds starting duty as an every-down player, he could make some noise in IDP leagues this year.

Texans signed S Quintin Demps.

Demps averaged 30.1 yards per kick return in 2013 with the Chiefs and appeared in all 16 games last season for the Giants. He'll compete for a job behind starting safeties Stevie Brown and Rahim Moore.

Giants S Quintin Demps is the front runner to return kicks.

Demps averaged 30.2 yards on 33 kickoffs last season with the Chiefs, and sports an impressive 27.4 yard average on his career. He will compete with Trindon Holliday and, if healthy, David Wilson for the job.

Quintin Demps is the leading candidate for the Giants' third safety role.

The Giants have moved on from Will Hill, leaving Demps as the favorite for snaps in three-safety packages. Stevie Brown and Antrel Rolle are locked in as the starters. Demps had 35 tackles and four interceptions in a rotational role with the Chiefs last season. He's spent the majority of his career as a deep safety, but the Giants plan to use him closer to the line of scrimmage. Demps will be pushed by fourth-round S Nat Berhe.

Giants signed S/KR Quintin Demps, formerly of the Chiefs.

The Giants have found their kick returner after striking out on Ted Ginn and Jacoby Jones. Demps finished third in the league with his 30.1 kickoff return average, bringing one back to the house. He shouldn't play much defense with the G-Men but does have experience and is a quality depth player.

Chiefs signed S Quintin Demps, formerly of the Texans.

Demps, 28 next month, recorded 35 tackles and five pass breakups in 12 games with the Texans last season as a backup. He has never started a game in his five-year career since being a fourth-round pick of the Eagles. Demps will compete for a roster spot behind safeties Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis.

Texans S Quintin Demps (broken forearm) is expected to return to game action on Sunday.

Demps has been out since Week 4. He's wearing a pad on his left forearm and a cast over his right thumb, which was broken the week before his forearm injury. He had been playing in nickel and third-down packages early in the season.
Fri, Nov 2, 2012 11:41:00 AM

Texans S Quintin Demps has undergone surgery after breaking his forearm, and is out indefinitely.

The injury is not season-ending, but Demps will miss "some time." The Texans' third safety, Demps was already playing through a broken thumb. Second-year pro Shiloh Keo should see an uptick in snaps in Demps' absence.
