Jacob Tamme (ribs) is inactive for Sunday's Week 15 game at San Diego.
With Julius Thomas (ankle) healthy, Tamme would have had a minimal role anyway. C.J. Anderson (ankle) is also ready to rock, as expected. The rest of the Broncos inactives: Cody Latimer, Ronnie Hillman, Kayvon Webster, Paul Cornick and O'Brien Schofield. Dec 14 - 2:49 PM

Date:

Jacob Tamme (ribs) is questionable for Week 14.

He didn't practice all week. Even if Julius Thomas (questionable, ankle) is held out and Tamme manages to play, he won't be a Week 14 fantasy option.
Dec 5 - 7:11 PM

Jacob Tamme (ribs) remained sidelined Thursday.

Tamme isn't looking good for Sunday's game with the Bills, but that will change if he can return on Friday. Either way, the expected return of Julius Thomas renders Tamme obsolete in fantasy leagues.
Dec 4 - 1:49 PM

Jacob Tamme (ribs) did not practice Wednesday.

Tamme suffered the injury in Sunday night's win, limiting him to just 24 snaps. With Julius Thomas (ankle) tentatively expected to return, Tamme will be reduced to a backup role if active this week.
Dec 3 - 3:06 PM

Jacob Tamme was held to catch for four yards in Week 13 against the Chiefs.

Tamme dropped a wide-open touchdown in the second quarter. He's been a non-factor filling in for Julius Thomas, and will be reduced to a backup role if Thomas returns next week.
Dec 1 - 1:04 AM

Jacob Tamme lost a yard on his lone reception in Denver's Week 12 win over the Dolphins.

With Julius Thomas (ankle) sidelined, Virgil Green got the start at tight end as a blocker, limiting Tamme to all of one target. Tamme actually turned a second look into a five-yard touchdown, but it was nullified by a holding penalty. Tamme will be a low-end TE2 if Thomas isn't back for Week 13.
Nov 23 - 8:22 PM

Jacob Tamme caught four passes for 31 yards in the Broncos' Week 11 loss to the Rams.

Tamme was targeted a team-high 10 times after Julius Thomas went down with an ankle injury. The talent gap between the two is monstrous. Tamme failed to locate one pass and tripped over his own feet on another down the sideline. If Thomas can't play against Miami in Week 12, Tamme will be a mid-range TE2.
Nov 16 - 5:26 PM

Jacob Tamme caught two passes for 22 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's Week 3 loss at Seattle.

Tamme came on in "12" sets after Virgil Green left with a concussion. He scored a 26-yard touchdown to bring the Broncos within two points with 18 seconds left in regulation, which will likely be his biggest play of the season. Tamme had one catch in the first two games even though Wes Welker was suspended.
Sep 21 - 9:06 PM

Jacob Tamme has agreed to a $1.75 million pay cut.

Originally scheduled to make $3 million, Tamme will now bring home $1.25 million. The Broncos are spinning it as a "restructuring" since incentives can push the deal back to $3 million. The Broncos' No. 2 tight end, Tamme will be in for 2-3 targets per week.
Sep 4 - 2:42 PM

Jacob Tamme is a candidate to get some slot work if Wes Welker (concussion) misses time.

Emmanuel Sanders has tons of experience in the slot and would make the most sense there in the event of a Welker absence. But the Broncos would likely mix and match, with Tamme getting some packages. Still, our preferred stash here is Cody Latimer as the best red-zone threat and most talented player. He'd play outside while Sanders goes inside.

Aug 27 - 11:30 AM

Jacob Tamme caught two passes for nine yards in Denver's Super Bowl 48 loss.

A second-quarter tight end screen to Tamme lost two yards when Seahawks NT Brandon Mebane ran him down in Denver's backfield. He did tack on an 11-yard reception in garbage time. Tamme turns 29 in March, and the Broncos may deem his $3 million base salary too pricey with Julius Thomas having emerged. Tamme would generate limited free agent interest if released.
Feb 2 - 10:43 PM

Jacob Tamme caught two passes for 24 yards and a touchdown in Denver's AFC title game win over New England.

Tamme hauled in the first touchdown of the game on quick rollout by Peyton Manning from one yard out. Tamme only scored one TD all regular season. He'll continue to be a limited-snap tight end in the Super Bowl.
Jan 19 - 6:25 PM

Jacob Tamme was held catch-less in Denver's Divisional Round win.

The Broncos were a three-receiver, one-back, one-tight end team ("11" personnel) in this one, with Wes Welker back healthy and Tamme rarely if ever seeing the field. Julius Thomas' primary backup at "move" tight end, Tamme is likely to be a non-factor in next week's AFC title tilt against the Patriots.
Jan 12 - 8:24 PM

Jacob Tamme caught three passes for 29 yards in Week 17 against the Raiders.

Tamme was used in a rotation with Eric Decker at slot receiver to replace Wes Welker (concussion). He made a ridiculous one-handed catch in the fourth quarter that as overturned, but did little else. Tamme finishes the 2013 regular season with 20 receptions, 184 yards, and one touchdown.
Sun, Dec 29, 2013 09:04:00 PM

The Broncos used a rotation of Jacob Tamme and Eric Decker to replace Wes Welker (concussion) at slot receiver in Week 16.

Tamme ran 30 slot routes, while Decker handled 26. Andre Caldwell stood in as Denver's Z receiver -- Decker's normal position -- and played on just 31-of-78 snaps against the Texans. It's a reminder that the Broncos have a bevy of slot options, and can play two-tight end offense whenever they feel the strategy better attacks an opponent. They close out the season against Oakland in Week 17.
