The Seattle defense has another solid home matchup as they will face the Detroit Lions on Monday at CenturyLink Field.
Detroit owns the NFL's worst rushing attack, running for just 45 yards per game with a per-carry average of just 2.6 yards. If the Lions' run game woes continue, Detroit will be forced to let Matthew Stafford throw against Seattle's second-ranked pass defense, which is a recipe for disaster. Start the Seattle D/ST with extreme confidence this week. Oct 1 - 2:57 AM

The Seattle Seahawks will face Chicago backup Jimmy Clausen on Sunday in their 2015 home opener.

This Week 3 matchup already looked like a slam dunk for Seattle and the injury to Bears quarterback Jay Cutler only strengthens Seattle's grip on the number one spot among Week 3 fantasy defenses. Clausen was just 14-23 passing with one interception in Week 2 after Cutler's injury and will face a Seattle defense that is extremely tough at home. Start the Seattle D/ST with extreme confidence this week.

The Seattle Seahawks and SS Kam Chancellor have not been in contact since September 8, according to Pro Football Talk.

The lack of activity from Chancellor's agent is concerning and likely indicates that the bruising Seattle safety won't be in uniform anytime soon. The Seattle secondary could use Chancellor's services on Sunday night when they travel to Green Bay to face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Even without Chancellor, the Seattle D/ST is still a top-ten fantasy defense this week, as plenty of playmaking ability can still be found in Seattle's defensive huddle.

The Seattle Seahawks will start Dion Bailey at strong safety in Week 1 with Kam Chancellor (holdout) not available.

Coach Pete Carroll said of Kam Chancellor, "He’s not here right now, so he’s not playing." This thrusts Bailey into the spotlight as a substitute member of "The Legion of Boom" with Chancellor still stuck in a holdout. The Seattle D/ST remains a top Week 1 play with Nick Foles not likely to pick apart the Seahawks secondary with or without Chancellor.
Sep 10 - 2:28 AM

Seattle free safety Earl Thomas (shoulder) will return to the field in Week 1 when the Seahawks travel to St. Louis to face Nick Foles and the Rams.

Fantasy owners won't need any additional convincing to start the Seattle D/ST in Week 1, but with Thomas back in the fold, the Seahawks defense will be near full strength for their season opener. Strong safety Kam Chancellor (holdout) is a major piece that Seattle is still missing, but they should have more than enough fire power to turn in a solid performance against a Rams team that could be starting Benny Cunningham at running back.
Sep 1 - 11:17 PM

The Seattle D/ST currently carries the highest ADP among fantasy defenses.

According to average draft position data from, the Seahawks are being selected first among fantasy D/ST units after finishing the 2014 season first in both points and yards allowed per game. Drafting a fantasy defense early is generally an ill-advised move, but new defensive coordinator Kris Richard should easily be able to keep the Seattle defense near the top of the NFL once again.
