Packers LG Josh Sitton has bulked up to 322 pounds in an effort to improve his drive blocking.
Sitton became the Packers' first Pro Bowl guard in 40 years last season, but Green Bay's interior linemen were pushed back all too often. Sitton's 2012 playing weight got down to 300, so he's really bulked up. "I just wanted a little bit more power and probably a little more strength," Sitton explained. "I put on a lot of muscle plus fat, too." It's a positive development for Eddie Lacy. Thu, Aug 8, 2013 01:21:00 AM

Josh Sitton is just the third Packers guard in the last 40 years to make the Pro Bowl.

The late Gale Gillingham and Marco Rivera are the others. Over the last two seasons, Sitton has established himself as an elite pass-blocker and cornerstone of the Packers' offensive line. With Evan Dietrich-Smith stepping in at center and T.J. Lang emerging at left guard, there's reason to believe this unit can have a bounce-back season in 2013. They allowed Aaron Rodgers to get sacked a league-high 51 times in 2012.

Packers RG Josh Sitton (knee) could make his return against the Chiefs Sunday.

Sitton has been out since spraining his right knee against the Lions on Thanksgiving. The 13-0 Packers will likely exercise caution as they steer their ship toward the playoffs. Before going down, Sitton was having an All-Pro caliber season.

Packers RG Josh Sitton left Thursday's game against the Lions in the second quarter with a knee injury.

Sitton was matching up with and containing Ndamukong Suh early on. He's considered questionable to return and is standing on the sideline with an icepack on his knee. Evan Dietrich-Smith has come on at right guard.

Packers signed RG Josh Sitton to a new six-year contract.

Lions DT Ndamukong Suh called Sitton the best lineman he faced during his entire rookie season, and it's deserved recognition for a player yet to make a Pro Bowl despite being absolutely deserving. Sitton, 26, has started the Packers' last 32 games and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 2 ranked guard in football this past year. Excelling as both a run blocker and pass protector, the 2008 fourth-round pick is one of GM Ted Thompson's many draft-day gems.

Packers RG Josh Sitton is hopeful of signing a long-term extension to stay in Green Bay.

"I will play with the Packers for as long as they will have me," said Sitton, who's entering a contract year and emerged as one of the NFL's best guards. "... I would hope they would want to give me an extension. I have played pretty damn good football for them for a couple of years." Sitton is only 25, so he could theoretically strike it rich twice with big deals before his career is up if he signs a three- or four-year extension.

Packers RG Josh Sitton hit an escalator in his contract that upped his 2011 salary from $555,000 to $1.2 million.

He's still underpaid. Pro Football Focus' No. 2 guard in the NFL behind only New Orleans' Carl Nicks, Sitton wasn't charged with a single sack allowed in 2010 while also performing exceptionally as a run blocker. The Packers often use the impossible-to-move 320-pounder on the defensive line in goal-line situations. He'll be a candidate for a big offseason extension.

Josh Sitton is the favorite to start at right guard for the Packers this season.

Sitton would've started all last year had he not suffered a sprained knee in the preseason. Green Bay will enter camp with a highly athletic, if inexperienced strong side of the offensive line with Sitton next to RT Allen Barbre.

Packers RG Josh Sitton will miss at least the first three regular season games with a sprained knee.

The rookie had taken over as the starting right guard before suffering the injury in the Packers third preseason game. Center Scott Wells is also in danger of missing the opener, which could get both Tony Moll and Daryn College into the lineup.

Packers OL Josh Sitton is week-to-week with a sprained knee.

Sitton was the one Packers rookie pushing for a starting role, but his status for the opener is now in doubt.

Packers reached agreement with fourth-round OL Josh Sitton on a multi-year contract.

The Packers believe Sitton could eventually push for time at right tackle, where Mark Tauscher is currently their starter. Sitton can also play guard.

Packers fourth-round pick Josh Sitton, a guard/tackle prospect out of Central Florida, reminds GM Ted Thompson of RT Mark Tauscher.

"I'm not saying he's Mark Tauscher," Thompson said on Wednesday. "But he has similarities to Mark. You will see similarities in their movement and in their ability to absorb charges and block their guy." Sitton has collegiate experience at right tackle and both guard spots but also character concerns; he was arrested for DUI in 2006.
