The Newark Star-Ledger labeled Giants CB Zackary Bowman the "biggest surprise" of spring practices.
Bowman, 29, was signed in March after spending the first six seasons of his career with the Bears. He made 23 career starts and picked off ten passes. Beat writer Jordan Raanan thinks a transition out of Chicago's zone scheme into a press-man scheme could do wonders for 6-foot-1, 196-pound Bowman. The Giants have one of the deepest cornerback depth charts in the league. Jun 24 - 10:12 AM

Giants signed CB Zackary Bowman, formerly of the Bears.

Bowman, 29, wound up playing too much on defense in Chicago last season due to front-line injuries. He is a fine reserve corner and special teamer. Giants GM Jerry Reese has been extremely aggressive addressing his secondary, signing Bowman, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Walter Thurmond, and Quintin Demps, while also re-signing Stevie Brown and Trumaine McBride.

The Giants are close to a one-year deal with free agent CB Zack Bowman.

Bowman made seven starts as a reserve corner last season, finishing with 49 tackles and three interceptions. He would compete for snaps in sub-packages if signed, and is also capable of filling in at safety. The Giants have been aggressive in upgrading their secondary, signing Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Walter Thurmond, and Quintin Demps this offseason. The Bears also remain interested in bringing Bowman back.

The Bears are interested in re-signing free agent CB Zack Bowman.

Bowman saw extensive playing time as a reserve corner last season, making seven starts and finishing with three interceptions. He isn't a priority and is expected to test the open market, but could be brought back if the Bears fail to re-sign Charles Tillman. Chicago currently lacks a legit No. 1 corner.

Bears re-signed CB Zackary Bowman to a one-year contract.

A fifth-round pick out of Nebraska in 2008, Bowman has never developed into a reliable cover corner, but he's carved out a legitimate career on special teams. The 28-year-old racked up 11 tackles across 11 games in Chicago last season.

Vikings waived CB Zackary Bowman and OT Patrick Brown.

Coming off a rough 2011 for the Bears, Bowman was made expendable after the Vikings acquired A.J. Jefferson from the Cardinals. Bowman will look to latch on elsewhere as a down-ballot corner and special teamer.

Vikings CB Zackary Bowman worked mostly with the third team during minicamps and OTAs.

After falling out of favor in Chicago last season, Bowman is squarely on Minnesota's roster bubble. The four-year veteran will have to prove he can contribute on special teams and hold his own in camp against third-round CB Josh Robinson.

Vikings CB Zackary Bowman's one-year deal is worth just $615,000, and does not include a signing bonus.

It's flier money, and a sign that Bowman isn't assured of a roster spot. He made only one start for the Bears in 2011, playing just 109 snaps on defense. If everything goes right for the Vikings, Bowman won't be higher than fourth on the depth chart if he makes the team.

Vikings signed CB Zackary Bowman to a one-year contract.

It's believed to be a non-guaranteed deal worth the league minimum. Bowman has been signed away from the rival Bears, though he made just one start in 2011, where the majority of his snaps came on special teams. He was a 12-game starter in 2009, however, and provides veteran insurance for a Vikings' secondary that was decimated by injury and suspension last season.

A pair of NFC teams have reportedly expressed interest in free agent CB Zack Bowman.

The report is likely agent-driven. Bowman isn't going to be a hot ticket on the open market after limited playing time as a reserve and special teamer the past two years. This could be a sign that he's planning to leave Chicago, however.

CB Zack Bowman was beaten for three touchdowns in the Bears' Week 16 loss to the Packers.

Bowman made a bad impression in his first start of the season. Yes, Aaron Rodgers shreds everyone. But the Packers were clearly picking on Bowman. The Bears haven't found an answer opposite Charles Tillman as normal starter Tim Jennings was demoted ahead of this game.

Bears CB Zackary Bowman is expected to miss this week's game with a concussion.

Bowman admitted to being "kind of out it" for 15 seconds after slamming his head into Bills WR Paul Hubbard in the preseason opener. Bowman is battling Tim Jennings for a starting job this summer.

Coach Lovie Smith indicated that Zackary Bowman will compete with Tim Jennings for the starting job opposite Peanut Tillman this year.

"Size, speed, hands — he has all those things," Smith said of Bowman, who landed in the doghouse last season. It's a position the Bears need to address in the draft. Jennings was toasted on a regular basis in Indy before a surprisingly stellar first season in Chicago.

Bears declared CB Zackary Bowman (foot) inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Bowman has been falling down the depth chart, so this isn't a big loss. Starting center Olin Kreutz (hamstring) is active, as expected. Other Bears inactives: No. 3 QB Caleb Hanie, S Craig Steltz, RB Kahlil Bell, G Edwin Williams, TE Desmond Clark, DE Barry Turner and DE Corey Wootton.

Bears CB Zackary Bowman (foot) missed practice Friday and will not play Sunday when the team takes on Buffalo.

The backup cornerback will need another week following the bye to recover. He was passed on the depth chart by Tim Jennings earlier in the season.
