Colts signed DT Jason Shirley.
Shirley started his career in Cincinnati as a defensive tackle, briefly shifted to offensive guard and then was moved back to defense. After that, he had cups of coffee with the Panthers and Seahawks before attracting little interest on the open market. Shirley doesn't bring much more than a 6'5/338 frame. Panthers DT Jason Shirley has a sack in each of three games since being promoted from the practice squad in early December.

Shirley, rookie Frank Kearse, and second-year pro Andre Neblett have been a boon to the run defense as well. Despite losing rookie starters Terrell McClain and Sione Fua, the Panthers have improved to 21st in run defense, allowing just 95.6 yards per during a 4-1 stretch.

Panthers signed DT Jason Shirley from their practice squad.

A major character risk coming out of Fresno State in 2008, Shirley flashed early in his Bengals career before a failed position switch to offensive guard. He'll add mauler size on the interior with rookies Terrell McClain and Sione Fua out for the season.

Seahawks waived DT Jason Shirley.

Shirley's stay on the active roster lasted off of five days. A fifth-round pick of the Bengals in 2008, Shirley has appeared in just three career games, and zero since he was a rookie.

Seahawks signed DT Jason Shirley, formerly of the Bengals.

Shirley has mauler size at 6-foot-5, 338, working at offensive guard for the past two seasons on the Bengals' practice squad. The experiment was finally nixed in 2011 training camp, with Shirley moving back to defense. In Seattle, he'll be a long shot for playing time behind Alan Branch and Brandon Mebane.

The Bengals have informed 2009 fifth-round pick Jason Shirley that he's moving back to defensive tackle.

The Bengals had been trying to convert Shirley to guard since August of 2009, but it didn't pan out. He missed all of last season with a torn Achilles' tendon. Shirley will struggle to make Cincinnati's final roster this year.

Bengals OG Jason Shirley may be lost for the year after suffering what's believed to be a torn Achilles' tendon during spring workouts.

Shirley, whose transition from defensive tackle to offensive guard was profiled closely on last year's edition of HBO's Hard Knocks, was injured during a charity basketball game. He was going to be on the roster bubble anyway.

The Bengals have converted defensive tackle Jason Shirley to offensive guard.

It's bad news for Shirley's chances of making the club. He has the size (6'5/338) and athleticism for the position, but is unlikely to catch on quickly.

A California judge has sentenced Bengals DT Jason Shirley to 30 days in a work program after a jury found him guilty of drunken driving and hit and run.

It's not yet clear what action the league might take in terms of a suspension. Shirley isn't the first Bengal to run afoul of the law and he won't be the last.

A judge in Fresno County has issued a warrant for Bengals DT Jason Shirley, who faces trial on suspicion of drunken driving.

He has until next Tuesday to appear or charges will be filed. The Bengals knew full well what they were getting themselves into when they drafted Shirley last April. His past is extremely checkered. Shirley was eligible for only three games as a Fresno State senior due to several off-field infractions.

Bengals agreed to terms with fifth-round DT Jason Shirley on a four-year contract.

Cincy's first pick to sign. The Fresno State product has a history of off-field issues and was kicked off the team by coach Pat Hill as a senior. If he gets his head on straight, Shirley has potential as a blocker-occupying nose.

Bengals rookie DT Jason Shirley is expected to miss the team's mandatory minicamp next week as he remains in Fresno tending to ongoing legal matters.

Both Shirley and the Bengals expected to have this situation resolved by now, so there is definitely a sense of disappointment. But the Bengals are used to that.
