Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini triggered an escalator in his contract, raising his 2013 salary from $3 million to $3.5 million.
Giacomini started all 16 games in 2012, but he graded out near the bottom of Pro Football Focus' offensive tackle ratings for the season. He also recently underwent right elbow surgery, but should be ready for OTAs. Giacomini is entering the final year of his deal, and the Seahawks could look for an upgrade. Jan 31 - 1:27 AM

Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini underwent right elbow surgery and will be sidelined 4-6 weeks.

Giacomini should be ready in time for April OTAs. The 27-year-old started all 16 games in 2012, but graded out as one of Pro Football Focus' worst tackles in the league. Giacomini has a knack for picking up personal foul penalties.

Seahawks RT Breno Giacomini was benched in favor of Frank Omiyale during Seattle's Week 5 win over the Panthers.

Giacomini committed two personal fouls after committing one in Week 4. Omiyale is a journeyman, but could keep the right tackle job. In addition to the penalties, Giacomini has struggled as a blocker this season. He got eaten alive by Rams LE Chris Long in Week 4 and has been a weak link as a run blocker.

Seahawks re-signed RT Breno Giacomini to a two-year, $6 million contract with a $1.5 million signing bonus.

Giacomini, 26, had been an extreme liability in previous spot appearances before James Carpenter's ACL injury forced him into the starting lineup down the 2011 stretch. The former Packers draft pick started seven games, holding his own and flashing difference-making potential as a run blocker against the Bears and Cardinals. Giacomini will likely compete with Carpenter to keep the job in camp. At worst, he'll return as a versatile reserve.

Breno Giacomini is now battling first-rounder James Carpenter for the starting right tackle job.

The bad news just keeps on coming in Seattle. Carpenter was terrorized by Von Miller last week, but it's hard to imagine Giacomini is a better option after spending the majority of last season on the practice squad. With a dysfunctional quarterback and offensive line, we're avoiding Seahawks fantasy players like the plague this year.

Seahawks signed OT Breno Giacomini from their practice squad.

Giacomini has been on Seattle's roster yo-yo since being signed in late September. He'll add depth up front.

Seahawks waived T Breno Giacomini.

It's the second time Giacomini has been waived this season. It could be an indication that the team likes the chances of Russell Okung being ready for Week 10. Giacomini will be re-signed to the practice squad if he goes unclaimed.

Seahawks promoted T Breno Giacomini from the practice squad, and released OL Chris White.

With both Russell Okung and Tyler Polumbus expected to miss Week 9, Giacomini will fill in at left tackle against the Giants. G Chester Pitts is another candidate to start at LT, although he's a bit of a wild card given that Pitts hasn't started at LT in five years, and is coming off microfracture surgery on his knee. Get the Giants D/ST in your active lineup if you haven't done so already.

Seahawks released T Breno Giacomini, and signed RB Chris Henry from the practice squad.

With LT Russell Okung having returned to full health, the Seahawks opted for running back depth as they prepare for Arizona's 29th-ranked rush defense. Henry should not be touched in fantasy leagues with Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett handling most of the touches in Seattle's running game.

Seahawks signed OL Breno Giacomini off the Packers' practice squad.

Seahawks GM John Schneider, familiar with Giacomini from his time in Green Bay, reportedly considered trading for him before final cuts. The Vikings had already attempted to sign Giacomini, with the Packers upping his salary to retain him on the practice squad. He'll add depth to a leaky Seahawks' O-Line.

Packers waived OL Breno Giacomini, QB Graham Harrell, S Anthony Levine, LB Cyril Obiozor, LB Maurice Simpkins, and WR Chastin West.

The Packers were shopping Giacomini hard the past few days but couldn't find a taker. Matt Flynn will back up Aaron Rodgers, as expected, but the Packers like Harrell enough to try to get him back on the practice squad.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that "several teams" have shown interest in Packers backup RT Breno Giacomini.

Why -- we can't tell you, because Giacomini has been a disaster during the preseason, particularly in pass protection. Giacomini does have ideal size and a nasty demeanor, so perhaps he'd fit better in a power-blocking system.

After a poor preseason opener, Packers reserve OT Breno Giacomini was even more brutal in the second exhibition game against Seattle.

Giacomini allowed a sack, a quarterback hit, two pressures, and blew a run block that resulted in Brandon Jackson losing two yards. Remarked OC Joe Philbin, "If you're going to play offensive tackle in the National Football League ... you have to be able to block defensive ends in pass protection."

Packers OT Breno Giacomini surrendered a sack to the outside and was beaten twice to the inside in Green Bay's preseason opener.

Said OC Joe Philbin, "He's got to demonstrate in a game that he can do that and keep the quarterback upright." Giacomini looks the part at 6'7/320, but remains a project entering his third season. And that is never a good sign.

The Packers will give Breno Giacomini a chance to replace Mark Tauscher as their starting right tackle in 2009.

Drafted as a project out of Louisville in the 2008 fifth round, Giacomini will face heavy competition but has come along pretty quickly. Upgrading at offensive tackle still figures to be Green Bay's No. 1 offseason priority.
