Packers DT Letroy Guion (hamstring) returned to practice Monday.

Guion has missed all of training prior to today and was considered a strong candidate to open the season on reserve/PUP. The Packers won't be able to do that with Guion now that he's back at practice. They need the 27-year-old to step up now that they've lost NT B.J. Raji (torn biceps) for the season.

Packers DT Letroy Guion (hamstring) is expected to open the season on reserve/PUP.

Guion never passed his pre-training camp physical. Green Bay has become dangerously short on defensive line depth after trading Jerel Worthy and losing NT B.J. Raji to a torn biceps. They could really use Guion right now.

Packers agreed to terms with DT Letroy Guion, formerly of the Vikings.

Miscast as a nose tackle in Minnesota, Guion struggled mightily in each of the past two seasons. He should get more freedom with Green Bay, playing more of a disruptive role off the bench. 27 in June, Guion managed 21 tackles and a sack in 13 starts last year. He'll compete for playing time in sub-packages.
Mar 17 - 3:56 PM

Free agent DT Letroy Guion recently visited the Patriots and is scheduled to visit the Packers on Sunday.

Per the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Ravens are also interested in Guion. The 26-year-old was released by the Vikings last week in a salary-shedding move. Guion started 13 games for the Vikings last season but wasn't very effective.

Vikings released NT Letroy Guion.

The move clears $4 million in cap space. Guion started 13 games last season, but was ineffective, rotating snaps with Fred Evans and Kevin Williams. He managed only 21 tackles and one sack across 397 snaps, struggling as both a pass rusher and run stopper. He won't generate much interest in the first wave of free agency.
Mar 6 - 3:50 PM

ESPN Vikings blogger Ben Goessling considers NT Letroy Guion a candidate to be released.

Guion, 26, started all 13 games he appeared in and notched a meager 21 tackles and one sack from the nose tackle spot. He split time there with Fred Evans and Kevin Williams. Entering the final year of a three-year deal, Guion is scheduled to count $4.3 million against the cap. The Vikings could save $4 million by cutting him. Minnesota needs to upgrade its defense however possible.

Letroy Guion and Fred Evans are competing for the Vikings' starting nose tackle job.

With Kevin Williams and Sharrif Floyd swapping reps at the three-technique, coach Leslie Frazier said that nose tackle is Guion and Evans' job to lose. While Guion was the starter last season, Pro Football Focus graded Evans as the superior player. Both received reps in the first-team base defense during OTAs.

Vikings NT Letroy Guion has suffered a setback in his recovery from a sprained right PCL.

He won't suit up for Friday's tilt with the Chargers. It will be Guion's second straight exhibition absence after he hurt his knee in the opener, and has his Week 1 status in jeopardy. Veteran Fred Evans is starting in his absence.

Vikings NT Letroy Guion will miss a "week or two" after spraining his right PCL in Friday's preseason opener.

Minnesota's starting nose tackle, Guion is in danger of missing the Vikings' next two preseason games. Coach Leslie Frazier fully expects him to be ready for Week 1. Guion is backed up by veteran Fred Evans and seventh-round rookie Trevor Guyton.

The Vikings plan to play recently re-signed DL Letroy Guion at nose tackle.

Still just 24, Guion was used mostly as a three-technique tackle in 2011. He appeared in all 16 games, but made just three starts. He graded out positively against the run by Pro Football Focus, however, and thinks he'll fare better at nose tackle. "I can see the ball better. Read the offensive line better," Guion said. The news could spell the end of Remi Ayodele's time in Minnesota.

Vikings re-signed DT Letroy Guion to a three-year contract.

Guion drew three starts last season, two while filling in during Kevin Williams' two-game suspension. A promising but inconsistent rotational tackle, Guion has flashed in limited snaps since entering the league in 2008 as a fifth-round pick.

Should Kevin Williams' four-game StarCaps suspension be upheld, Letroy Guion is expected to enter the 2011 season as the Vikings' starting "three technique" defensive tackle.

Guion, 24, racked up two sacks and nine QB pressures in 2010 despite playing about 33 percent of Minnesota's defensive snaps. ESPN's Tom Pelissero previously suggested Guion has earned the right to at least compete for a starting job. Three technique tackle won't be near as problematic for the Vikings as nose tackle and left defensive end have the potential to be.

Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 Twin Cities believes backup DT Letroy Guion should receive an opportunity to at least compete for a starting job in 2011.

"No one flashed more often in fewer chances," writes Pelissero. A 2008 fifth-rounder, Guion recorded two sacks, 15 QB pressures, three tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble in 26.1 percent of the Vikes' defensive snaps. He'll need to spend the offseason adding strength.
