Redskins released LB Jonathan Goff with an injury settlement.
Goff re-tore his right ACL in training camp. It's a crushing blow for the 2008 fifth-rounder, who didn't play a 2011 snap for the Giants after tearing his ACL on the eve of Week 1. Goff's career appeared to be on the upswing following a 16-start 2010 where he made 80 tackles and one sack. Goff was set to back up London Fletcher and Perry Riley at inside linebacker for the Redskins. Mon, Jul 30, 2012 06:17:00 PM

Redskins signed LB Jonathan Goff, formerly of the Giants.

A 16-game starter for the Giants in 2010, Goff missed all of 2011 with a torn right ACL. The Giants had interest in re-signing him, but Goff drew decent interest, visiting the Dolphins and Browns in addition to Washington. One of the league's better run defenders in 2010, Goff — who is still only 26 — provides the Redskins with some high-upside insurance at inside linebacker.

Redskins worked out free agent LB Jonathan Goff on Thursday.

The Redskins are still expected to re-sign London Fletcher, but Goff would provide much-needed depth on the inside. The Giants appear to have no interest in bringing him back.

Dolphins worked out free agent LBs Jonathan Goff, Quentin Groves, Gary Guyton, and Bryan Kehl.

We knew Groves and Guyton were scheduled to visit Miami. It now looks like the Dolphins aim to sign one backup linebacker from the group of four working out. Goff's only other reported visit was to Cleveland three weeks ago.

Free agent MLB Jonathan Goff reportedly visited the Browns.

The Giants were expected to try to re-sign Goff on a short-term, low-risk contract as he recovers from ACL surgery. Goff and his agent are looking for something more substantial.

The New York Daily News expects the Giants to attempt to re-sign MLB Jonathan Goff (ACL surgery) to a short-term, low-risk deal.

A 16-game starter in 2010, Goff tore his right ACL in September and missed the entire season. Goff, 26, was one of the league's better two-down inside 'backers the previous year, and he's got more value to the Giants than anywhere else. We suspect he'll re-sign, but be forced to compete for the job in camp.

Giants placed MLB Jonathan Goff (ACL surgery) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Sixth-round pick Greg Jones is expected to get the first shot at taking Goff's place in the starting lineup. Goff started all 16 games for the Giants a season ago, racking up 80 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. The 2008 fifth-round pick will be a free agent at season's end.

Giants MLB Jonathan Goff is out for the season with a torn right ACL.

If not for bad luck, the Giants would have no luck at all. Goff will join CB Terrell Thomas, LB Clint Sintim, and DT Marvin Austin on injured reserve. Goff had 80 tackles and a sack last year in his first season as a starter, playing the run well as a two-down thumper. Veteran Kawika Mitchell is expected to be signed, though rookie Greg Jones will also be an option in the middle. Goff is a free agent in 2012, so his Giants career may be over.

According to ESPN New York, Jonathan Goff "exceeded expectations" as the Giants' starting middle linebacker in his first year.

Goff won't blow anyone away with 81 tackles and two turnovers accounted for, but he was an elite run defender and didn't miss a start. Goff leaves in pass downs, which will always hurt him in the eyes of IDP leaguers, but the Giants use him perfectly as a two-down thumper. He'll return as a starter in 2011.

Giants MLB Jonathan Goff (elbow) said he is fine after getting X-rays Sunday night.

Goff left Sunday's loss in the fourth quarter and did not return. However, it sounds like the middle linebacker will be fine to face the Eagles next week. Phillip Dillard is Goff's backup.

Giants MLB Jonathan Goff needed X-rays following Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

Goff declined to say where on his body he got the X-rays, but he appeared to be favoring his elbow when initially injured. Goff was averaging 4.6 tackles a game heading into today's contest. He was replaced in the lineup by Phillip Dillard.

Giants MLB Jonathan Goff left Sunday's game against the Cowboys in the fourth quarter with an apparent arm injury.

Goff had five tackles before leaving. Phillip Dillard -- not Chase Blackburn -- replaced Goff.

Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell indicated that MLB Jonathan Goff will wear the helmet with the green sticker this year.

Goff will communicate with defensive coaches upstairs, a sign that he will stay on the field in some obvious passing situations. The first-year starter has plenty of job security heading into the season.

Coach Tom Coughlin seemed to hint Monday that Jonathan Goff has a real chance to open the year as the Giants' starting middle linebacker.

Keith Bulluck has yet to pass Goff, and was even working with the outside linebackers on Monday. "(Goff) has played pretty steady," said Coughlin. "Not a lot of numbers but he is steady." Bulluck may move to the strong side to push Clint Sintim. Michael Boley is the Giants' IDP 'backer to target.

Jonathan Goff opened camp as the Giants' starting middle linebacker.

Keith Bulluck split time with the twos and threes. The expectation is that Bulluck will eventually supplant Goff after an impressive recovery from ACL surgery in his mid-30s. Goff, though, is talented enough to put up a fight.
