Josh Morgan caught 3-of-5 targets for 48 yards in the Bears' third preseason game Friday night in Seattle.
Morgan worked as the Bears' No. 3 receiver, ahead of Santonio Holmes, although that could be a temporary assignment for the ex-Redskin and 49er. Holmes should eventually prove the more dynamic option in three-wideout sets. Aug 23 - 12:36 AM

Speaking Monday, Bears coach Marc Trestman called Josh Morgan the "next man up" at No. 3 receiver.

The Bears released theoretical No. 3 man Eric Weems on Saturday. Technically speaking, Morgan is the next man up, but new addition Santonio Holmes should get every chance to beat him out. Even were Morgan to hold off his more-accomplished teammate, he'd have no fantasy value as the Bears' No. 3.

Bears WR Josh Morgan will have his April assault charge expunged from his record if he completes 32 hours of community service.

Morgan must complete the service within the next four months. Morgan allegedly assaulted a valet after he "looked in the direction" of Morgan's girlfriend. Coming off a thoroughly underwhelming 2013 in Washington, Morgan will fight for No. 4 duties in camp. He'll primarily block if he cracks the 53-man roster.
Jul 9 - 8:12 AM

Bears WR Josh Morgan was arrested on a simple assault charge after allegedly punching a nightclub parking valet in the mouth after the valet "looked in the direction" of Morgan's girlfriend.

Morgan was booked into a police precinct and released with a citation. The club bouncer allegedly allowed Morgan into the establishment after the assault, and Morgan denies a punch was ever thrown. "I didn't touch him," Morgan claimed, per NBC Washington's Dianna Marie Russini. "I didn't do anything. This is crazy. I'm not worried about nothing." The Bears signed Morgan last Monday.
Apr 28 - 5:37 PM

Bears signed WR Josh Morgan to a one-year contract.

Morgan, 29 in June, finished 2013 in Washington with 20 catches for 217 yards and no touchdowns. He's been in steady decline since flashing early-career promise in San Francisco. A plus blocker but simply not a big-time receiving threat, Morgan will put heat on Marquess Wilson for Chicago's No. 3 wideout role. Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall are obviously entrenched as starters.

ESPN 980 Washington D.C. reports the Panthers and 49ers are among six teams interested in free agent WR Josh Morgan.

The Panthers are being connected to every free-agent receiver at the moment. They badly need help with Tavarres King and Marvin McNutt currently atop the depth chart. Morgan is a solid blocker on the outside but hasn't been a productive receiver since 2009-2010 with the Niners. Morgan turns 29 in June.
Mar 19 - 2:09 PM

Free agent Josh Morgan said he has no idea why he was a barely used during the 2013 season.

Morgan was healthy all year, but lost his starting job to Leonard Hankerson, was a healthy scratch twice and finished with a 20/214/0 line on a total of 391 snaps. He battled with coach Mike Shanahan in the press often. "You try to say what's up, you try to go to him as a man and talk to him and really get an understanding of what's going on," Morgan said. "But at the end of the day, you're not gonna [urinate] on me and tell me it's raining." A better blocker than playmaker, Morgan will likely be looking at minimum kinds of one-year deals in free agency.
Jan 30 - 11:06 AM

Josh Morgan is a healthy scratch for Week 17.

Morgan fell out of favor early on in Washington this year, losing his starting job to Leonard Hankerson and then falling behind Aldrick Robinson. The blocking wideout heads to free agency with a total of 68 catches, 724 yards and two touchdowns across his two seasons in Washington. Morgan, who will turn 29 years old in June, will have to settle for a one-year minimum kind of deal.

Josh Morgan caught three passes for 29 yards in Week 15 against Atlanta.

Morgan was targeted four times. He's now the No. 4 receiver with the Redskins wanting to get a longer look at Aldrick Robinson. Morgan is off the fantasy map.

Josh Morgan caught one pass for 15 yards in Washington's Week 14 loss to the Chiefs.

Morgan appeared to be running behind clear-out specialist Aldrick Robinson. Morgan has no fantasy value.

Josh Morgan caught one pass for 10 yards in Week 13 against the Giants.

Morgan started opposite Pierre Garcon, but was a non-factor after catching five passes for 45 yards in Week 12. Primarily a blocking receiver, Morgan remains off the fantasy radar.

Josh Morgan caught five passes for 45 yards in Week 12 versus San Francisco.

With Leonard Hankerson (knee) out for the season, Morgan was active and got the start opposite Pierre Garcon. He saw six targets and caught all five of his passes on simple quick-hitters in the first half. This is just about his ceiling. Morgan isn't a fantasy option in Washington's basic "attack."

Josh Morgan is expected to get his starting job back in the wake of Leonard Hankerson's season-ending knee injury.

Morgan bottomed out in Week 11, taking a shot at the coaches after he was a healthy scratch. In a somewhat awkward turn of events, they now need him back at the "Z" spot. Morgan will likely rotate some with Aldrick Robinson, making an already low-upside situation even more undesirable.

Coach Mike Shanahan gave disgruntled WR Josh Morgan a vote of confidence Monday.

Morgan was a healthy scratch in Week 11 and took a shot at Shanahan after the game. But with Leonard Hankerson (knee) down, the Skins know they'll need Morgan at the "Z" receiver spot. "I've got a lot of belief in Josh Morgan," Shanahan said. "I have a lot of confidence in Josh that he'll come back strong and help us this week as a receiver." Morgan is likely to share time with Aldrick Robinson and will also block a ton. He's not worth a fantasy add in most formats.

Josh Morgan took a shot at coach Mike Shanahan after being deemed a healthy scratch Sunday.

When asked about his demotion following Sunday's loss at Philly, Morgan said the following: "Coach said I can't talk. Coach said I can't play football and I can't talk." The former starter should have held his tongue because new starting Z receiver Leonard Hankerson went down with a knee injury. If the issue proves serious, Morgan has a chance to get re-installed as an every-down player.
