Free agent S Corey Lynch worked out for the Chiefs this week.
It's Lynch's first known action of free agency. The 28-year-old appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers last season, starting four, and recorded 39 tackles and two interceptions. The Chiefs opted to sign S Quintin Demps instead. May 23 - 5:06 PM

Chargers signed SS Corey Lynch, OT Phil Trautwein, and P Robert Malone.

Lynch started eight of 32 games with the Bucs the past two seasons, but he's essentially a special teamer. Trautwein will vie for the final offensive line spot. Malone will be a golfing buddy for standout punter Mike Scifres until he's released after training camp.

The Bucs plan on rotating Corey Lynch and Larry Asante at free safety going forward.

Starter Cody Grimm (knee) is done for the season, leaving his two backups to battle. Defensive backs coach Jimmy Lake said that "if one of them is real hot, then I'll stick with that guy." The good news for the Bucs is that neither one will be tested by the Colts' inept passing game Monday night.

Bucs coach Raheem Morris confirmed Friday that Corey Lynch will be the team's starting free safety going forward.

Lynch beat out Vince Anderson in practice for the position previously held by Cody Grimm (fractured fibula). Essentially a career special teamer, Lynch didn't make the Bengals out of training camp. Grimm showed playmaking ability as a rookie starter, and Lynch projects as a sizable downgrade.

Bucs signed S Corey Lynch.

Lynch was on Cincinnati's practice squad, where he was best known for his role on "Hard Knocks." He's a 'tweener safety lacking the physicality to be a run-stopping SS and the hip fluidity to be an effective center fielder.

Bengals placed S Corey Lynch (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Lynch, a sixth-round rookie from Appalachian State, played a decent amount on defense in his first year because of injuries to Dexter Jackson and Nedu Ndukwe. He'll try to make the team again as a special teamer/backup in '09.

Bengals agreed to terms with sixth-round S Corey Lynch.

The Appalachian State product is best known for blocking Michigan's attempt at a game-winning field goal in last year's Week 1 upset. He'll have to prove his worth on special teams to make the Bengals.
