Cardinals waived WR Jaymar Johnson, WR Gino Crump, DE Landon Cohen, S Eddie Elder, WR Tre Gray, CB Marshay Green, FB Reagan Maui'a, LB Marcus McGraw, LB Zack Nash, CB James Nixon, P Ricky Schmitt, and LB Paul Vassallo.
We appreciate NFL teams getting their cuts out of the way now so Monday's deadline to trim to 75 isn't quite so cumbersome. Johnson, Cohen, Green, Maui'a, and Schmitt have bounced around the league. The rest were UDFAs. Fri, Aug 24, 2012 07:28:00 PM

Vikings waived WR Jaymar Johnson.

Johnson is a favorite among the Vikings' fan base, but he has one career catch and couldn't win a return job in camp. He's simply not much of a player.

Vikings WR Jaymar Johnson is once again training with Larry Fitzgerald, this time at the University of Minnesota.

Johnson is trying to get Christian Ponder, Bernard Berrian, and Visanthe Shiancoe to join him. A favorite of former Vikings great Cris Carter, Johnson spent all of the 2010 season on I.R. with a broken left thumb. He has one NFL reception in three seasons.

Vikings signed WR Jaymar Johnson to a one-year, $405,000 contract.

Johnson, an exclusive rights free agent, spent the season on injured reserve after breaking his thumb in preseason. He will battle for the fourth- or fifth-receiver job in 2011. Training with Larry Fitzgerald in Arizona is a good start.

Restricted free agent WR Jaymar Johnson is training with Larry Fitzgerald in Arizona.

According to Johnson, their focus is "explosion, speed, strength, just an all-around game." Prior to the 2009 season, former Vikings great Cris Carter predicted Johnson would win a starting job. Johnson does have plenty of talent, but in six career games has just one reception. After he missed all of 2010 with a broken thumb, the Vikings may not tender him a contract.

Vikings waived/injured WR Jaymar Johnson.

The star of the 2009 offseason lost his roster spot to Brett Favre after breaking his left thumb. Johnson wasn't going to beat out Darius Reynaud for punt return duties. His recovery timetable is 6-8 weeks.

Vikings declared WR Jaymar Johnson, WR Greg Lewis, CB Asher Allen, S Husain Abdullah, LB Erin Henderson, OL Kory Lichtensteiger, and DT Jimmy Kennedy inactive for Week 2 against Detroit.

Minnesota is one of the healthiest teams in the league now that Bernard Berrian is off the injury report and 100 percent.

Vikings declared WRs Jaymar Johnson and Greg Lewis, CB Asher Allen, S Jamarca Sanford, LB Erin Henderson, C Kory Lichtensteiger, third QB Sage Rosenfels, and DT Fred Evans inactive for Week 1 against the Chiefs.

Bernard Berrian is active. Benny Sapp will be the Vikes' nickel back.

Along with rookie Percy Harvin, Jaymar Johnson is a serious contender for the Vikings' primary punt return job.

The Vikings are looking for more explosiveness than Bobby Wade can provide. Johnson has the early edge because Harvin isn't a natural at handling punts. Johnson will also back up Bernard Berrian at split end this year.

Former Vikings great Cris Carter says Jaymar Johnson "could start for the Vikings" after training the second-year receiver in Minnesota this week.

Relax, Cris. Johnson has impressed this offseason, but still has a long way to go to make the team, let alone start. Johnson is hoping to catch on as a fifth receiver and kickoff return option. He may have to push Bobby Wade or Aundrae Allison off the roster to earn a spot.

Vikings coach Brad Childress noted that WR/KR Jaymar Johnson is "on a mission" to make the team out of training camp this season.

Childress called Johnson the team's hardest worker and revealed that last year's sixth-rounder has added 17(!) pounds while getting down to 3 percent body fat. Johnson will have to beat out Aundrae Allison, Darius Reynaud and Glenn Holt for fifth receiver duties.

Vikings signed WR Jaymar Johnson, RB Albert Young, and OG Brian Daniels to futures contracts.

Johnson is a kick return prospect. Young could make a run at Maurice Hicks' third-string tailback job this offseason after a year on the practice squad.

Vikings waived WR Jaymar Johnson, DE Martail Burnett, and DE Leger Douzable.

Johnson was Minnesota's sixth-round pick in April. He could go on the practice squad and be of use if Aundrae Allison goes down in-season.
