Giants released RB Peyton Hillis.
Hillis, 29, has been abysmal since his 1,177-yard rushing season with the Browns in 2010, averaging just 3.6 YPC the past four years. Each of his past two seasons have been ended by concussions, and it's unclear if Hillis wants to continue his playing career. His release saves the Giants $945,000 against the cap. Andre Williams is locked in as the Giants' "big back" and early-down bruiser. Feb 25 - 10:03 AM

Peyton Hillis (concussion) remained sidelined Thursday.

Barring a surprise Friday return, Hillis is going to miss Sunday's game against the 49ers. With Rashad Jennings (knee) back in action, Hillis can be safely dropped in 14-team leagues.

Peyton Hillis (concussion) was sent home from the Giants' practice facility Wednesday.

It appears he's not going to play this week after being concussed last Sunday. Rashad Jennings will be backed up by Andre Williams and Orleans Darkwa.

Peyton Hillis left Sunday's Week 10 game at Seattle with a concussion and will not return.

Hillis was functioning as the third-down back before going down, getting two touches for nine yards. Michael Cox will have to step up in support of limited starter Andre Williams.

The Newark Star-Ledger expects Peyton Hillis to continue to "eat into" Andre Williams' snaps.

Williams out-snapped Hillis just 39-34 last Monday night against the Colts, and the two have been splitting reps for the past three weeks since Rashad Jennings went down with a sprained MCL. Don't expect it to change this week in Seattle, and don't be surprised if Hillis comes out on top Sunday. He's better in pass pro and can catch. Neither player is much more than an RB3.

Peyton Hillis rushed for 20 yards on four carries in the Giants' Week 9 loss to the Colts, adding five catches for 50 yards.

Hillis was actually the Giants' leading rusher and receiver at halftime. That tells you just how bad of a night it was for the G-Men. Hillis and Andre Williams split time evenly in the backfield, and will likely do so again next week in Seattle. Hillis isn't a fantasy option. Rashad Jennings (knee) should be back Week 11.

Peyton Hillis rushed six times for 29 yards in Sunday's Week 7 loss at Dallas.

Hillis was the third-down and two-minute back behind Andre Williams. He'll keep that bit role after the bye, when Rashad Jennings (knee) will likely return.

Giants RB Peyton Hillis (foot/ankle) has resumed practicing.

"Oh my goodness," he said afterwards. "It was nice." Hills projects as the Giants' No. 3 tailback this season, behind Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams.

Peyton Hillis (foot, ankle) has been out of practice for more than two weeks.

Hillis is in a battle with Michael Cox and Kendall Gaskins for the third running back spot behind Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams. He won't win the job without getting back on the field soon. The painfully slow Hillis has averaged 3.58 YPC over his last 319 NFL carries.

Peyton Hillis (foot, ankle) is hoping to resume practicing by Monday.

He'll need to in order to ensure his roster spot. Provided he can get healthy, Hillis is ticketed for No. 3 duties behind Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams. Hillis averaged an anemic 3.4 yards across 73 carries for the Giants last season. The G-Men could ultimately opt to replace him with a free agent.

Peyton Hillis (ankle, foot) will be sidelined for "a while."

It sounds like more than just a minor sprain for the reliable yet painfully slow Hillis, who was ticketed for third-string duties behind Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams. With David Wilson (neck) done and now Hillis sidelined, the Giants are going to need to add a back to their 90-man roster.

Peyton Hills was the third back through the Giants' rotation in Sunday night's Hall of Fame game.

As Rotoworld rookie Ray Summerlin put it, "Hillis looks old." The NY Daily News recently projected Hillis as Rashad Jennings' backup, but there's little doubt Andre Williams is that guy, perhaps to the extent of a full-blown RBBC. Williams is a far superior Jennings handcuff who could provide standalone value. Hillis isn't worth a roster spot even in the deepest leagues.

The Daily News projects Peyton Hillis as Rashad Jennings' direct backup.

David Wilson's career is in jeopardy, Andre Williams' pass-game woes are showing up and Michael Cox is a borderline NFL talent. It leaves the reliable but painfully slow Hillis as the next man up. The former Madden cover boy was getting some first-team reps in Thursday's practice.
