Wesley Woodyard is expected to start the first six games at weak-side linebacker.

Broncos re-signed LB Wesley Woodyard to a two-year contract.

Woodyard, who turns 26 before the season, piled up career highs in tackles (97), starts (7), and forced fumbles (2) last year, replacing MLB Joe Mays in Denver's nickel packages and making spot starts at weak-side 'backer. Woodyard's role won't be as big in 2012, but he can cover and make plays on special teams. The 97 tackles don't include ten more in kick and punt coverage.

Broncos extended restricted free agent tenders to OLB Wesley Woodyard, RT Ryan Harris, DTs Marcus Thomas and Kevin Vickerson, and K Matt Prater.

We did this post under Woodyard because he's the only "real" restricted free agent of the group. The rest of them have four or more years of experience and should be unrestricted after the next CBA. It's believed Woodyard is in line for more playing time in Denver's new 3-4, probably on the strong side.

Broncos LB Wesley Woodyard was ruled out for Week 4.

With FB Spencer Larsen also ruled out for the game at Tennessee, the Broncos are missing two of their most physical special teams players. Denver ranks towards the bottom of the NFL in kick return (27.7 yards per return) as well as punt return coverage (16.0 yards per return). One of the poorest special teams units in the league just got worse.
