Wesley Woodyard is "penciled in" as a starting inside linebacker in the Titans' new 3-4 defense.
Zach Brown, Moise Fokou, Colin McCarthy, and Zaviar Gooden are vying for the other ILB job. Woodyard measured 6-foot, 227 coming out of Kentucky, and the Titans lack a true hold-the-point nose tackle to keep offensive linemen from entering the second level. Tennessee's run defense will be worth targeting in fantasy matchups this year. They are undermanned in most front-seven areas. Jul 4 - 1:51 PM

Titans signed LB Wesley Woodyard to a four-year, $16 million contract.

Although Woodyard lost his starting job to Paris Lenon down the stretch last season following a nasty stinger, he is a swiss-army-knife linebacker with exceptional versatility and special teams impact. He adds more speed to an already highly athletic Tennessee linebacker corps. Woodyard seems unlikely to start in Nashville, but could wind up playing 50-plus percent of the defensive snaps as a nickel 'backer. He'll also run down kickoffs and punts.

Free agent LB Wesley Woodyard is scheduled to visit the Titans after he meets with the Patriots Wednesday.

Woodyard is going to have a solid market because he's just 27 years old and can cover. In today's NFL, sub-package linebackers have value even if they're undersized.

Free agent LB Wesley Woodyard will visit the Patriots.

It's unclear when Woodyard will make the trip to Foxboro, but it will be his first visit of free agency and could take place on Tuesday. Woodyard was stretched as the Broncos' middle linebacker last season but proved to be an above-average weak-side 'backer in 2012. The Cowboys are also interested in Woodyard.
Mar 11 - 1:17 PM

The Cowboys have expressed interest in free agent LB Wesley Woodyard.

Woodyard was the Broncos' every-down middle linebacker for much of last season, but got benched in favor of Paris Lenon down the stretch. Therefore, he should come at a bargain basement price for the cap-strapped Cowboys who may release Justin Durant. Woodyard can play at all three linebacker spots and be a special teams asset.

The Broncos benched MLB Wesley Woodyard in their Week 14 win over Tennessee.

The Denver Post observes that Woodyard "hasn't been the same" since suffering a stinger in Week 5 against Dallas. He was replaced by Paris Lenon against the Titans. Pro Football Focus has given Woodyard negative grades across the board after a strong 2012 campaign. Woodyard is in a contract year.

The Broncos will use WLB Wesley Woodyard at middle linebacker during SLB Von Miller's six-game suspension.

Danny Trevathan is now the weak-side 'backer, with Shaun Phillips and Nate Irving rotating at strong side. Woodyard should be a monster IDP, racking up tackles behind Terrance Knighton and Sylvester Williams while playing every down as a key piece in all of Denver's sub-packages. He will flirt with LB1 statistics, and is expected to stay inside even when Miller returns.
