Saints special teams coordinator Greg McMahon has expressed no concern with K Garrett Hartley's missed kicks in consecutive games.

McMahon said Hartley is reacting well to the misses. The Saints have yet to discuss bringing back veteran Jon Kasay as competition for Hartley.

Garrett Hartley has won the Saints' placekicking job.

Hartley proved his health by going 6-of-7 in preseason games. He'll be a fantasy kicker to target thanks to the Saints' explosive offense and the friendly confines of the Superdome. In 27 career games with New Orleans, Hartley has made 42 total field goals and gone 10-of-11 from 40-49 yards out.

Garrett Hartley remains the favorite to win the Saints kicker job.

Veteran John Kasay was signed just in case Hartley wasn't fully recovered from his 2011 hip injury. Hartley is 17 years younger, has four years left on his contract and has kicked well in practices, while Kasay has missed 2-of-4 preseason field goal attempts. Hartley is 1-for-1. The Superdome and the Saints' explosive offense make Hartley a strong fantasy kicking option.

SportsNOLA.com expects Garrett Hartley to beat out John Kasay for field-goal duties this summer.

The Saints want Hartley to earn the job in training-camp competition, but he'll likely be given the benefit of the doubt as long as he manages to keep it close. Hartley has a stronger leg and youth on his side.

The Saints plan to stage a camp battle at kicker between Garrett Hartley and John Kasay.

Kasay's April re-signing was viewed as insurance after Hartley missed all of 2011 with a hip injury, but special teams coordinator Greg McMahon insists there will be an "open competition." Our money is on Hartley, who is 17 years Kasay's junior. The winner should be one of fantasy football's most valuable kickers.

Saints K Garrett Hartley (hip) is fully healed and expected to keep his job.

Free agent John Kasay was strong as an injury replacement in 2011, but it doesn’t appear that the Saints will bring him back unless the 25-year-old Hartley struggles. Hartley has nailed 42 of his 49 (86%) career field goal attempts.

Saints placed K Garrett Hartley (hip) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Hartley's recovery timetable had him on pace for a post-Halloween return. John Kasay has yet to miss a kick, so the Saints may have decided it was too much of luxury to carry two kickers for another 4-5 weeks. The organization remains high on Hartley's future, so he'll almost certainly be back as the primary kicker in 2012.

Coach Sean Payton takes exception to a report that K Garrett Hartley (hip) will miss 8-10 weeks.

Payton called the report "inaccurate," even though Hartley acknowledged that he was aiming for 6-8 weeks. Either way, he won't be kicking in September. The Saints may review their options after John Kasay missed two kicks Thursday night. Hartley's roster spot is not in jeopardy.

Saints K Garrett Hartley is out at least six weeks with a hip flexor.

Hartley hopes to make it back in 6-8 weeks, but a league source tells the New Orleans Times-Picayune that it could be closer to 8-10 weeks. Hartley has been in "considerable pain" since Sunday night's game. Veteran John Kasay will take over on field goals for one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NFL. He's a worthwhile fantasy pickup.

Coach Sean Payton downplayed the minor hip injury that sidelined Garrett Hartley late in Sunday's game.

Payton does not think the tweaked hip is serious. He also confirmed that Hartley was not kicking extra points purely for precautionary reasons. It sounds like Hartley is merely day-to-day and can still be selected as a top-10 fantasy kicker.

Saints K Garrett Hartley was removed from Sunday night's game after tweaking his right hip.

Trainers were discussing the injury with Hartley on the bench while the Saints opted to go for a two-point conversion. It's possible that the Saints are simply using extra precaution here, but we'd remove Hartley from cheat sheets until an update is given on his status.

Garrett Hartley's new five-year deal with the Saints has a $10.3 million base value, with roughly $3 million guaranteed.

There's another $2.7M in incentives. Hartley has a great leg when his mind is right, but his biggest plus has always been Sean Payton's support. In a dome and high-flying offense, he'll remain an elite fantasy kicker in 2011. And Hartley now has job security, the lack of which made him risky in previous years.

Saints agreed to terms with K Garrett Hartley on a five-year contract.

Hartley was scheduled to hit restricted free agency for the first time. Instead, the Saints lock him up after he rebounded from a sketchy start to nail 15 of his final 16 field-goal attempts in 2010. Despite the occasional Hartley hiccup, coach Sean Payton has been a firm believer in his kicker's strong and accurate leg.

Garrett Hartley has made seven straight field goals and 13 of his last 14.

Those early season yips are clearly behind Hartley. He's back to where he was at the end of last season -- an elite NFL and fantasy kicker. Hartley will be kicking in a dome in each of the final two weeks of the season.
