The Seahawks failed to tender restricted free agent CB Roy Lewis, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Lewis has been a regular on special teams for Seattle over the past few seasons, and worked as the team's nickel corner in 2011. The Seahawks clearly felt as though he wasn't worth the $1.26 million minimum restricted free agent tender, but he could return at a lower salary.

Seahawks activated CB Roy Lewis from the PUP list.

With Walter Thurmond and Marcus Trufant both out for the season, Lewis is expected to play mostly in nickel packages. In 14 games a season ago, he notched 26 tackles and one sack.

Seahawks placed CB Roy Lewis (knee surgery) on the reserve/PUP list.

Lewis is still recovering from a December knee operation. Signed off the practice squad in November 2009, Lewis was a solid contributor in Seattle's secondary last season, registering 26 tackles and a sack. As long as he returns to 100 percent health, he'll likely be kept around once he comes off the PUP list.

Seahawks re-signed CB Roy Lewis and WR/QB Isaiah Stanback.

After two years on practice squads, Lewis emerged as an effective nickel and dime back before undergoing season-ending knee surgery in December. He should return in a similar role this year, though the surgery could delay his appearance in training camp. The injury-plagued Stanback is coming off an Achilles' tendon tear and is an extreme longshot to survive the summer.

Seahawks placed CB Roy Lewis (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Lewis finishes his first season as a major defensive contributor with 25 tackles, a sack, and four pass breakups. Lewis was surprisingly effective in coverage as a nickel and dime back, so he's earned a long look for a roster spot in 2011. He'll be easy to retain as an exclusive rights free agent.

Seahawks promoted CB Roy Lewis from the practice squad.

Lewis takes the roster spot of veteran Travis Fisher, who was released earlier in the day. It was a busy day at Qwest Field, with the Seahawks announcing nine roster moves.
