Ravens signed TE Jonathan Stupar, formerly of the Bills.
The Ravens are bringing in veteran backups to compete with Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta. Stupar is an all-around tight end that flirted with the Bills' starting job a year ago, but he'll enter camp as a long shot for a roster spot. Mon, Aug 8, 2011 12:40:00 PM

The Bills did not extend a tender to restricted free agent TE Jonathan Stupar.

Stupar, 27 in July, wound up playing far more snaps than the Bills hoped down the stretch last year, due mostly due to Shawn Nelson lack of availability. Stupar will be free to test unrestricted free agency once a CBA is struck.

Jonathan Stupar appears to have beaten out Shawn Nelson for the Bills' starting tight end job.

A 2009 preseason star, Stupar's steady performances have carried over to the summer of 2010. "He's a good route runner," said coach Chan Gailey. "He's an intelligent player. He fights every snap. He's more than an adequate blocker." Nelson continues to disappoint. Gailey's history of heavy tight end usage could help Stupar flirt with TE2 value if he keeps the job all season.

Bills promoted TE Jonathan Stupar from the practice squad.

With Derek Schouman out for the season and Derek Fine battling a hamstring injury, the Bills need Stupar for depth. He had a nice preseason, but he won't have fantasy value as the second or third tight end.

Bills waived TE Jonathan Stupar.

Stupar was promoted from the practice squad before Monday night's loss to the Patriots because Derek Fine (hamstring) couldn't go. Assuming Stupar clears waivers, he'll head back to the practice squad.

Bills signed TE Jonathan Stupar off their practice squad.

They needed depth with Derek Fine out for Week 1. Stupar was highly productive in the preseason, but the H-back type won't make a fantasy impact.
