Redskins agreed to terms with QB Pat White.
White's signing comes on the same day the Redskins re-upped Rex Grossman, giving them four QBs under contract. White passed a "full battery" of tests, which revealed "no issues" with the concussion that helped knock him out of the league. White hasn't set foot on an NFL field since 2009. White is facing long odds of cracking the Redskins' 53-man roster, but drew strong interest after relaunching his career, and will be buoyed by his perfect fit for the read-option offense. USA Today confirms free agent QB Pat White is expected to sign with the Redskins on Wednesday.

White met with team officials on Tuesday evening. The Redskins may have to clear some cap room first, but it appears to be a matter of when, not if, White signs. White has been out of professional football since getting released by the UFL's Virginia Destroyers in 2011, but has drawn interest from a handful of teams since relaunching his NFL career in January. He still has a lot to prove before earning a spot on the Redskins' 53-man roster.

Free agent QB Pat White will visit the Redskins on Wednesday, and is "very likely to sign."

We now know why White canceled his Giants visit. White would certainly fit Mike Shanahan's evolving read-option offense, but has never attempted a regular season pass. The move would be made with the long-view in mind. If the Redskins like White's development behind RG3 and Kirk Cousins, perhaps they'd be amenable to dealing pocket-passer Cousins in 2014. That's a huge if, though. White will have to earn a roster spot before all else.

Free agent QB Pat White canceled his Tuesday visit with the Giants.

It suggests White is on the verge of a deal with someone else, but his only other visit was to San Francisco. The 49ers acquired Colt McCoy on Monday, lessening the chances they'd add White to the mix.
Apr 2 - 2:00 PM

Free agent QB Pat White will visit the Giants "early next week."

White's unlikely comeback has earned him visits with two of the league's most stable franchises, New York and San Francisco. He'd obviously be a better fit for a 49ers team that's adopted the read option, but wouldn't be higher than third on the depth chart in either city. Just landing a contract would be a major victory for the former second-round bust.

Free agent QB Pat White worked out for the 49ers on Thursday.

White, 27, has been out of football since the Dolphins cut him out of training camp in 2010. He recently worked out at West Virginia's Pro Day in hopes of making a comeback. San Francisco has just two quarterbacks on its current roster and will likely add two before training camp.

Free agent QB Pat White says he'll work out for the 49ers.

"Coach (Jim Harbaugh) and I had a conversation about me coming in to work out,'' White said Sunday. "We haven't set up a formal date. I'm just going to make sure I keep working hard for when that day comes." It's possible the visit never comes to pass, but it would be White's first since he started off on the comeback trail. The odds are heavily stacked against the former second-round bust cracking someone's 53-man roster.

Former Dolphins QB Pat White will work out at West Virginia's March 14 Pro Day.

It's White's latest gambit as he attempts to "relaunch" his career. White was a read-option maestro at WVU, but the fact that he couldn't even hold a roster spot in the UFL suggests his comeback won't gain any traction.

Former Dolphins QB Pat White is attempting to get back in the NFL.

Good luck. White, the former second-round pick that was dumped by Miami after one season, has since played minor league baseball in the Royals organization, been cut by the Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League and taken some acting classes. He hasn't gotten a sniff of interest from the NFL. Now he's at the Senior Bowl trying to stir up some buzz. "I know that I can still do it," said White. "I just want to come out here, shake hands, show my face and let coaches know that I'm interested."
Jan 22 - 10:17 AM

Pat White has been released by the UFL's Virginia Destroyers.

So much for putting something on tape in the minors. White was released as the Destroyers work their way down to 53 players. This should end the Dolphins' 2009 second-round pick's chances of getting back in the NFL.

Pat White has signed with the Virginia Destroyers of the UFL.

The Destroyers are coached by former NFL head coach Marty Schottenheimer. White will only have to beat out a host of no-names for the starting quarterback gig. "It's a chance to show I can do it," said White, the Dolphins' failed second-round pick from 2009.

Former Dolphins QB Pat White plans to continue his football career with the Virginia Destroyers of the UFL.

White is "close" to signing a deal, which could be finalized in the next few days. The No. 44 overall pick in the 2009 draft had signed a contract with MLB's Kansas City Royals last fall only to retire from baseball in March. It looks like he's going to give his professional football career one last shot.

Former Dolphins VP of Player Personnel Bill Parcells admits that the team "violated our principles" by drafting West Virginia QB Pat White with the 44th overall pick in the 2009 draft.

Parcells was always a believer in big, prototypically built players at all positions. White "looked like a high school quarterback" at 6-foot and 190 pounds. "He just wasn’t a prototypical quarterback pick," Parcells said. "He was a great college player, and we let that color our judgment." White has both quit football and retired from baseball in a matter of two years.

Former Dolphins QB Pat White has retired from professional baseball.

White gave up on football last summer and signed with the Kansas City Royals organization, but apparently things didn't work out. Still just 25, it wouldn't be surprising if he attempted an NFL comeback. However, he drew zero interest as a free agent last year, and there's no reason to believe things will be different this time around.

Profootballtalk.com reports that free agent Pat White will sign a contract with the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball.

He'll sign a minor league deal shortly. The Royals reportedly plan to be "flexible" if the itch to play football returns for White, but his best chance at a long pro career isn't in the gridiron sport. It's believed White also has some interest in playing in the UFL, though baseball is taking precedence at this time. White was the 44th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.
