Vontae Davis said he's still recovering from groin surgery.
Davis was medically cleared two weeks ago, but still needs time to build up his strength and admitted he'll probably be limited for OTAs. "Right now, I’m still rehabbing," he said. "It’s a process." The two-time Pro Bowler is expected to line up opposite Tre'Davious White after agreeing a one-year deal last week. Mar 2 - 5:30 PM

Bills CB Vontae Davis's one-year contract includes $3.5 million guaranteed.

Davis' base salary is $5 million. He can earn up to $8 million through incentives. The $3.5 million guaranteed all but assures Davis of making the 53-man roster and collecting his full $5 million salary. Provided he's over the groin injury that marred his 2017 in Indianapolis, Davis should earn a starting job opposite Tre'Davious White.

Bills signed CB Vontae Davis, formerly of the Colts, to a one-year contract.

Released by the Colts in November after it was revealed he needed groin surgery, Davis spent the rest of the season on the street recovering before going on a free-agent tour the past two weeks. In addition to Buffalo, he also visited the Dolphins, Raiders, 49ers, and Browns. With the Bills, soon-to-be 30-year-old (in May) Davis will slide into the lineup opposite 2017 first-round CB Tre'Davious White, with FS Jordan Poyer and SS Micah Hyde rounding out the base defensive backfield. It'll be a plus unit, especially if Davis can return to pre-2017 form. This could mean the Bills will be moving on from free agent CB E.J. Gaines.

Free agent CB Vontae Davis is visiting the Dolphins on Friday.

Davis, of course, was drafted by the Dolphins with the 25th overall pick in the 2009 draft. He was traded by then-GM Jeff Ireland to the Colts in 2012 in one of the more famous scenes of HBO's Hard Knocks. Davis turns 30 in May and has now visited Miami, Oakland, San Fran, Buffalo, and Cleveland over the last two weeks. He should be coming to a decision in the near future.

Free agent CB Vontae Davis is visiting the Raiders on Wednesday.

Davis has visited the Bills, Browns, and 49ers in the last week and is now onto Oakland. The 30-year-old (in May) is eligible to sign whenever he pleases and should be making a decision in the next two or three weeks before free agency opens on March 14. The Raiders already released CB David Amerson earlier this month and likely will do the same with CB Sean Smith sooner than later.

Free agent CB Vontae Davis is meeting with the 49ers Tuesday.

He met with the Bills and Browns last week. Davis struggled while dealing with injuries each of the last two seasons, but he is only 30 (in May) and was a Pro Bowler in 2015. He would be a quality flier for the 49ers.

Free agent CB Vontae Davis is visiting the Browns on Friday.

Davis met with the Bills on Thursday and will continue his free agent tour with more visits next week. The two-time Pro Bowler struggled while battling injuries last year but wouldn't be a bad flyer for the Browns, who lead the league with over $110 million in cap space. Davis turns 30 in May.

Free agent CB Vontae Davis is visiting the Bills on Thursday.

It's Davis' first visit since he was released by the Colts in early November. The nine-year veteran announced last week that he had been medically cleared after undergoing core muscle surgery. Three months shy of his 30th birthday, Davis might still have some good snaps to offer but has become increasingly-bitten by the injury bug.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent Vontae Davis (core muscle surgery) has been medically cleared.

We hadn't heard Davis' name since he went under the knife three months ago. Going on 30, Davis has been limited to 19 games by injury over the past two seasons. He could struggle for guaranteed money on the open market.
Feb 12 - 1:26 PM

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, a "handful of teams, including two involved in the playoff chase" have shown interest in free agent CB Vontae Davis (groin).

Davis cleared waivers after being let go by the Colts earlier this week. He'll need 6-8 weeks to recover from his upcoming groin surgery, but could be available for the postseason. Davis has played poorly this year, though he obviously hasn't been healthy.

Free agent CB Vontae Davis has cleared waivers.

This was fully expected. Davis has $4.24 million left on the final year of his deal and is expected to undergo season-ending groin surgery. After grading near the bottom of PFF's ratings, Davis will enter the offseason with both injury and on-field concerns.

Colts released CB Vontae Davis.

Veterans are subject to waivers after the trade deadline, but it is highly unlikely he is plucked off the wire. Davis has not played well this season, reportedly needs season-ending groin surgery, and any team which claims him would be on the hook for the $4.24 million left on his deal this year. One of the premier corners in the league at one point in the not too distant past, Davis played six seasons with the Colts after being acquired in a trade from the Dolphins in 2012. He was in the final year of his deal.

Colts RCB Vontae Davis needs groin surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Davis has battled groin problems for more than a year. He will finally undergo surgery to address the issue. The Colts will move forward with Rashaan Melvin and Nate Hairston as their starting corners. Davis has had a falling out with coach Chuck Pagano, even if Pagano is likely on the way out. Davis' contract is up after this season. The Indy Star doesn't expect him back in 2018.

Colts GM Chris Ballard said Vontae Davis "hasn't played very well."

Davis was held out last week at Houston and showed up on the injury report as a limited participant on Wednesday. However, Ballard said Davis was cleared of his groin injury earlier this year and suggested the real issue has been his on-field performance. Davis was furious after his benching in Week 9, saying he felt "disrespected." A two-time Pro Bowler, Davis holds PFF's No. 84 grade out of 115 qualifiers at cornerback. Expect the Colts to move on from Davis when his contract expires this offseason.

Colts CB Vontae Davis (groin) is out for Week 10 against the Steelers.

Davis was sidelined for Week 9 as well, but that was allegedly for personal reasons. He's now rehabbing his groin issue, and will only be limited in practice this week. Rashaan Melvin is the Colts' No. 1 corner.
