Colts CB Vontae Davis (groin) is practicing in full for Week 4 against the Seahawks.

This confirms that Davis will be back in the lineup Sunday against Seattle after sitting out the first three games with a groin injury. His return is a big boost to the Colts' secondary.
Sep 27 - 4:13 PM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (groin) is expected to make his season debut on Sunday Night Football against the Seahawks.

There are no guarantees Davis will be effective, however, after he struggled mightily trying to play through a groin injury for multiple weeks last season. As Doug Baldwin is primarily a slot receiver and Davis patrols the boundary, it's likely Paul Richardson will end up in Davis' coverage the most in Week 4.
Sep 25 - 4:46 PM

Vontae Davis (groin) will miss his third consecutive game Sunday. QB Andrew Luck, C Ryan Kelley, LB Anthony Walker, RB Marlon Mack, CB Quincy Wilson and WR Chester Rogers are also inactive Sunday.

The absence of Davis in the secondary has been felt so far to start the season. 36.6 percent of the completions against the Colts have gained 20 plus yards, the highest rate in the league. That could be a potential issue even against the Browns, as 31.7 percent of DeShone Kizer's pass attempts have been 15 yards or further downfield, the highest rate for all starting quarterbacks.

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (groin) is listed as doubtful for Week 3.

Davis was able to get in some practice reps this week and looks on track to return in Week 4 barring setbacks. DeShone Kizer is a sneaky Week 3 streamer. Daily Slant: The Colts secondary is both struggling and banged up with Davis expected to be sidelined and Quincy Wilson ruled out. They may put S/CB T.J. Green back at RCB; he was promptly benched after his poor performance in Week 1 – he earned a 39.7 coverage grade from PFF. Or they could start rookie Nate Hairston, who’s posted a 46.4 coverage grade. Whoever they put there will be a downgrade from Vontae Davis and an upgrade for Kenny Britt. The receiver has a disappointing 2/5/15/0 line through two, but Corey Coleman’s injury opens up opportunities. If Davis sits, Britt could become a high-risk GPP pivot option off Rashard Higgins based on the favorable matchup. Hue Jackson challenged him to improve, it could be a great spot to deliver.
Sep 22 - 3:23 PM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (groin) remained limited at Wednesday's practice.

Davis returned to practice late last week. He's ahead of schedule in his recovery and has a chance to make his season debut after missing the first two games. Davis would be a huge upgrade to a Colts secondary that's allowed the third most pass yards in the league.
Sep 20 - 4:21 PM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (out, groin) returned to a limited practice on Friday.

Coach Chuck Pagano added that Davis is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from a groin injury. Davis won't play this week against the Cardinals but could be a possibility for Week 3 vs. Cleveland. The Colts could sure use him after yielding 306 yards to Jared Goff in last week's opener.
Sep 15 - 1:12 PM

Vontae Davis (groin) has yet to resume practicing.

Davis doesn't seem close to returning, and will miss Sunday's game against Larry Fitzgerald and the Cardinals. The Colts said in late August that Davis' injury was "significant," and that he would miss "multiple games." With the season already in the toilet, Davis could be babied along and miss the entire month of September.
Sep 14 - 4:12 PM

Vontae Davis (groin) has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Rams.

As expected. Davis hasn't practiced since suffering a groin injury in the Colts' third preseason game and is expected to miss multiple weeks. Rashaan Melvin and Quincy Wilson will work as the starting corners on Sunday.
Sep 8 - 2:03 PM

Vontae Davis (groin) will miss "multiple games."

Coach Chuck Pagano termed Davis' injury "significant," but nevertheless called him "week to week" while admitting he would miss more than one game. It's a crushing, crushing blow for a team entering Week 1 with massive question marks, injury or otherwise, on both sides of the ball. Davis has a history of lower-body injuries, so it's possible he ends up missing more time than expected. The Colts' cornerback depth chart is now led by former UDFA Rashaan Melvin and rookies Quincy Wilson and Nate Hairston.
Aug 29 - 1:08 PM

Vontae Davis left Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers with a groin injury and will not return.

He logged seven tackles before exiting in the second quarter. Davis has a history of soft tissue injuries, so this is obviously a cause for concern. Already playing without their franchise QB, the injury-riddled Colts can ill-afford to lose their top corner.
Aug 26 - 8:52 PM

Vontae Davis declared himself 100 percent healthy entering camp.

Davis battled ankle, groin, and concussion issues literally the entirety of last season. He had one of the worst years of his career as a result, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 109 cover corner out of 119 qualifiers. (Davis was No. 21 in 2015.) Now entering a contract year at 29, Davis needs a rebound season.
Jul 28 - 10:05 AM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (groin) was left off the final injury report and will play Monday night against the Jets.

Obviously limited on Thanksgiving, Davis might still be hobbled by the groin injury, but there is no doubt about his availability after he practiced in full Friday and Saturday. Davis will see plenty of Brandon Marshall if the receiver is able to suit up Monday night.

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (groin) returned to a full practice on Friday.

Davis got burned badly by the Titans in Week 11 and couldn't make it through the game in last Thursday night's loss to Pittsburgh, so we'd hesitate to call him all the way back. He'll match up with Brandon Marshall on Monday night.
Fri, Dec 2, 2016 04:09:00 PM

Colts CB Vontae Davis (groin) returned to a limited practice Thursday.

Davis sat out Monday after being forced from the game Thanksgiving night against the Steelers. Davis was very limited even before he left that game, but it looks like he will give it a go Monday night against the Jets.
