Colts RCB Vontae Davis (concussion) is listed as probable for Week 15.
Davis' return removes some of the shine from DeAndre Hopkins' matchup, although Davis only plays on one side of the field, and Hopkins will get chances against the Colts' lesser corners. Davis has been a top-five NFL corner this year. Dec 12 - 3:32 PM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 14 against the Browns.

Josh Gordon is licking his chops. Darius Butler and Josh Gordy will be forced into heavier snaps opposite LCB Greg Toler. All three cornerbacks are easily burnable. Gordon runs routes all over the formation as the Browns' X receiver, so he'll see some of all three. He's a locked-in, must-start with WR1 overall upside.

Colts DC Greg Manusky believes RCB Vontae Davis (concussion) will play Week 14 against the Browns.

Davis has yet to practice this week, and still needs to pass through the concussion protocol. Predicting a player clearing the league's strict protocol is like trying to predict the weather. Davis needs to be cleared by sometime Saturday. If he can't go, Darius Butler would start in his place opposite LCB Greg Toler. If it's Butler, Toler, and Josh Gordy at corner for the Colts, Josh Gordon will be licking his chops. They're three of the worst corners in the league this season.

Dec 5 - 10:18 AM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (concussion) is not practicing Wednesday.

Davis remains in the league's concussion protocol after going down in Week 13. If he can't play against the Browns, Josh Gordon's matchup becomes exponentially better. Davis has been the only one playing even average football in the Colts' secondary. Gordon could flirt with WR1 overall numbers for Week 14.
Dec 3 - 12:29 PM

Coach Chuck Pagano confirmed Vontae Davis is in the concussion protocol.

Davis suffered the brain injury during Sunday's win over the Redskins and was replaced by liability Josh Gordy. If Davis can't go in Week 14, Johnny Manziel and Josh Gordon will be licking their chops.

Nov 30 - 8:31 PM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis exited Week 13 against the Redskins with a concussion.

He is out for the game. Davis hurt himself attempting to tackle Roy Helu Jr. in the third quarter. He walked off the field under his own power but was quickly escorted into the locker room. Josh Gordy replaced Davis in the lineup and promptly gave up a 42-yard touchdown to DeSean Jackson.
Nov 30 - 3:32 PM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (knee) is officially probable for Week 9.

Davis will start on Monday night against the Giants. His return improves a Colts secondary that gave up 522 yards and six touchdowns to Ben Roethlisberger last week. Davis is PFF's No. 3 overall corner through eight games.
Nov 1 - 3:28 PM

Coach Chuck Pagano confirmed RCB Vontae Davis will play against the Giants Monday night.

The Colts surrendered 522 yards and six touchdowns through the air with Davis down most of the game last week. His return will be a big boost for the Colts' defense. Davis has been one of the best corners in the league this season.
Nov 1 - 1:04 PM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis (knee) is practicing in full for Week 9.

"He's ready to go," were the words of coach Chuck Pagano on Thursday. It's a major bullet dodged for the Colts, who came absolutely unglued against the pass after Davis was forced from last week's loss to the Steelers. Davis has been one of the league's very best corners this season.
Oct 30 - 1:40 PM

Vontae Davis (knee) is practicing Thursday.

Davis went down early in the Week 8 loss to the Steelers and didn't return. But after an MRI came back clean, Davis is on track to suit up in Monday night's game against the Giants. He's PFF's No. 3 corner in terms of coverage this season, behind only Chris Harris and Brandon Flowers.
Oct 30 - 12:17 PM

The MRI on Vontae Davis' knee came back negative.

The Colts can breathe a sigh of relief as their dominant, 1A corner has avoided any ligament tears. We'll have to wait a bit more to find the exact diagnosis, as he still could miss time with a sprain or other knee issue. Note that the Colts have a bye following Monday night's game against the Giants, so it's possible they'll play it safe. If Josh Gordy has to start opposite Greg Toler, it'll be a massive upgrade for the entire Giants pass game.
Oct 27 - 11:49 AM

Coach Chuck Pagano doesn't believe the knee injury sustained by CB Vontae Davis Sunday is too serious.

Davis went down early in Sunday's loss at Pittsburgh and was ruled out for the game shortly thereafter. So even though Pagano's words suggest there are no ligament tears here, it doesn't mean his elite 1A corner is in the clear. Note that the Colts have a bye following Monday night's game against the Giants.

Oct 27 - 11:18 AM

Colts RCB Vontae Davis was forced from Indy's Week 8 game against the Steelers with a right knee injury, and will not return.

Josh Gordy is now in the game opposite Greg Toler. Davis was originally listed as questionable as he tried to get loose on the sideline, but was ruled out early in the second quarter. It's a massive loss for the Colts' defense, as Davis has arguably been the league's best corner this season. His status will be updated sometime in the next 24 hours.
Oct 26 - 5:27 PM

Colts re-signed CB Vontae Davis to a four-year, $39 million contract.

The deal includes a whopping $20 million guaranteed. Monday reports had Davis getting away from Indy, but the Colts were never going to let a player they surrendered a 2013 second-rounder for get away without a fight. Davis can be a bit of a knucklehead, but is a legitimately elite player when on his game. He was in 2013, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 3 corner.
Mar 11 - 5:00 PM

TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports "word amongst insiders" is the Jets are "going hard" after free agent CB Vontae Davis.

The Jets are in the market for a No. 1 corner after releasing Antonio Cromartie on Monday. PFT's Mike Florio reported Davis is expected to sign a contract on Tuesday, but it's not expected to be with the Colts. The Jets could be that mystery team with a substantial offer on the table. Coach Rex Ryan loves bigger, man-cover corners. Davis fits the bill at 5-foot-11, 204 pounds.
