Darrius Heyward-Bey caught 3-of-3 targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason game.

The grabs were DHB's first of the preseason. He ran right by undrafted rookie S Daytawion Lowe for his 33-yard score in the fourth quarter, at least for one brief moment looking like a former first-rounder. It couldn't have hurt his roster odds.

Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey suffered a concussion in Thursday's practice.

Heyward-Bey has a history of concussions, so he could have trouble getting cleared. The missed time puts his roster spot in jeopardy. Derek Moye will get an extended look in Heyward-Bey's absence.
Aug 2 - 6:09 PM

Steelers signed WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, formerly of the Colts, to a one-year contract.

Heyward-Bey, the former No. 7 overall pick of the Raiders, is a case of a player whose name is far bigger than his game. DHB started the first ten games of the season for the Colts in 2013 but was finally benched and played a total of 32 offensive snaps the final four games. He caught 29 passes for 309 yards and one score in 2013 but dropped nine passes. DHB will compete for a spot.

Free agent Darrius Heyward-Bey will visit the Steelers on Wednesday.

It's Heyward-Bey's first-known visit after his career bottomed out with the Colts last season. Given an opportunity to start, DHB proved as stone handed as ever, catching only 29 passes while committing nine drops. He was one of the league's worst receivers before being relegated to special teams in December. DHB is an adequate blocker and special teamer, but the Steelers will be in major trouble if they're hoping he can contribute on offense.
Apr 1 - 5:02 PM

The Indianapolis Star reports the "odds are stacked heavily against" free agent Darrius Heyward-Bey re-signing with the Colts.

We'd also consider it an extreme long shot. DHB opened the season as the No. 2 receiver opposite Reggie Wayne and held onto the job far longer than he deserved to before being benched for good in Week 14. Heyward-Bey caught just 29 passes for 309 yards and one touchdown on the year, while dropping nine passes. He's our No. 28 free-agent receiver in a top-heavy market.
Feb 13 - 9:47 AM

Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring) is inactive for the Divisional Round against the Patriots.

As is saboteur Deion Branch. A special teamer, DHB will likely be ready to go if the Colts advance to the AFC Championship Game. Also inactive for the Colts are WR Josh Lenz, CB Sheldon Price, LB Daniel Adongo, C Khaled Holmes and OG Joe Reitz.
Jan 11 - 6:53 PM

Darrius Heyward-Bey is out "a week or so" with a hamstring injury.

DHB was benched during the regular season and has regressed into a blocking receiver and special teamer. This explains the Colts' signing of street free agent Deion Branch and promotion of Josh Lenz from the practice squad.
Jan 6 - 4:17 PM

Darrius Heyward-Bey was forced from Indianapolis' Wild Card game against the Chiefs with a hamstring injury.

The Colts' No. 5 receiver had been playing exclusively on special teams.
Jan 4 - 7:11 PM

Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring) is listed as probable for Saturday's Wild Card game against the Chiefs.

Heyward-Bey was a full participant in practice on Thursday and Friday after being limited earlier in the week. He'll serve as the Colts' No. 4 receiver and contribute on special teams.
Jan 3 - 7:25 PM

Darrius Heyward-Bey resumed practicing Wednesday.

Heyward-Bey will be fine for his special teams and No. 4 receiver duties against the Chiefs Saturday.
Jan 1 - 12:33 PM

Darrius Heyward-Bey (undisclosed) is not practicing Tuesday.

DHB, the Colts' No. 5 receiver now, has been working solely on special teams.

Darrius Heyward-Bey was held catch-less in Week 17 against the Jaguars.

A drop-prone nightmare free-agent signing by 2012 NFL Exec of the Year Ryan Grigson, DHB's regular season ends on a 29-309-1 stat line, losing his starting job down the stretch and eventually falling behind LaVon Brazill, Griff Whalen, and Da'Rick Rogers on the depth chart. Heyward-Bey will continue to be a blocking receiver in the NFL playoffs. He's no longer a passing-game factor.

Darrius Heyward-Bey is embracing his special teams role.

Heyward-Bey has fallen behind T.Y. Hilton, Da'Rick Rogers, Griff Whalen and LaVon Brazill on the receiving depth chart. So he's earning his keep by covering punts. "I'm taking it and running with it," Heyward-Bey said. "This is the first time that I've ever been in the playoffs, first time with double-digit wins. I put my ego to the side. I'm all about this team. I think we're a special team. I just want to go out there and help anyway I can."

Darrius Heyward-Bey caught two passes for 23 yards in Week 14 at Cincinnati.

Heyward-Bey was targeted three times on the day, playing as the No. 4 receiver behind T.Y. Hilton, Da'Rick Rogers, and LaVon Brazill. DHB dropped yet another pass in this one on a third-and-eight pass that hit him right in the hands. He's well off the fantasy radar.
