Date:

Marcel Reece (quad) is questionable for Week 7.

Reece was also listed as questionable last week, but ended up being active. He returned to practice Friday, and is on track to play against the Cardinals.

Marcel Reece (quad) is questionable for Week 6.

Reece was limited in practice this week. He's expected to play against the Chargers.
Oct 11 - 3:15 PM

Raiders OC Greg Olson said he will "continue to find ways" to use RB Marcel Reece.

"Continue" is an interesting choice of words considering Reece only has four touches through the first two games of the season. Olson at least recognizes Reece needs to get the ball more, but he is unlikely to ever become a fantasy option as the Raiders' Swiss-army knife. Oakland ranks in the bottom of five of points scored, total yards and rushing yards this season.
Sep 20 - 12:14 PM

Marcel Reece (foot) returned to practice Tuesday.

So much for being "out indefinitely." Reece was injured in Sunday's practice, had an MRI on Monday, and returned Tuesday. The Raiders may take it easy with their veteran Swiss-army knife, but it he's clearly avoided major injury. Reece is a much better real-life football player than fantasy asset.

Marcel Reece will undergo an MRI on his foot, and is out indefinitely.

Reece suffered the injury in Sunday's practice, and was spotted in a walking boot on Monday. It's a major concern. Ridiculously secretive with injury information, the Raiders may not update Reece's status until later in the week. Reece is one of the Raiders' better players, but is unlikely to make a fantasy impact this season even if he's healthy.
Aug 18 - 5:10 PM

Marcel Reece now weighs 238 pounds, his lightest since college.

It's clearly a move by the versatile fullback to improve his quickness in the passing game, but we don't expect a big role change for Reece. The Raiders have two pass-catching backs in Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden, and the team has annually only used Reece as an offensive weapon when absolutely forced. He had just 46 carries and 32 catches in 16 games last season.
Jul 28 - 8:43 AM

Marcel Reece had one catch for 11 yards in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Broncos.

It was his only target of the night. Reece finishes the 2013 season with 46 carries, 218 yards, and four total touchdowns, adding 32 catches for 331 yards in the passing game. A better real-life player than fantasy asset, Reece will return as the Raiders' starting fullback in 2014 and could push for a third down role.

Marcel Reece had four catches for 26 yards in Week 16 against the Chargers.

Reece didn't receive any carries, but managed six targets in the passing game. He saw his role decreased again this week with Darren McFadden healthy and dropped a touchdown on the last play of the game. Reece will remain behind Rashad Jennings and McFadden for touches in Week 17 against the Broncos.

Marcel Reece rushed five times for 18 yards and caught two passes for 52 yards in Sunday's Week 15 loss to the Chiefs.

No matter how well Reece plays in spot duty, the Raiders refuse to increase his role on offense. So with Rashad Jennings back from his concussion, the playmaking fullback was a small part of the gameplan. Reece has fewer than eight carries in all but one game this year, leaving him off the fantasy radar in Week 16.

The Oakland Tribune expects Marcel Reece to "again recede into the background" with Rashad Jennings cleared from his concussion.

The Trib's Jerry McDonald is the second Raiders beat writer to expect Jennings to immediately assume a clear-cut lead back role in Week 15, despite Reece's 161-yard, one-score shredding of the Jets' formerly league-best run defense. "Whatever these coaches need me to do, whatever my team needs me to do, I'm going to do it," said ultimate team player Reece. Look for Reece to be Jennings' change-of-pace back this week against Kansas City.

Marcel Reece had 19 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's Week 14 loss to the Jets.

He added two catches for 38 yards. With Rashad Jennings and Darren McFadden sidelined, Reece started and handled lead back duties. He outran the entire Jets defense on a 63-yard touchdown down the middle of the field on the Raiders' opening drive of the second half, and came close to scoring a second touchdown late in the fourth quarter but was stopped on consecutive carries from the one-yard line. Reece is worth owning as a handcuff with McFadden "week to week," but won't be a fantasy option if Jennings returns in Week 15.

Marcel Reece will be the Raiders feature back in Sunday's game against the Jets.

Rashad Jennings (concussion), Darren McFadden (ankle) and Jeremy Stewart (knee/ankle) are all out. It leaves the versatile Reece, a college wideout turned NFL fullback, as the starting tailback. It's a role Reece shined in previously as he piled up 13.5 carries for 65.2 yards and 5.0 catches for 48.7 yards per day in four November 2012 starts. He won't find much running room against Rex Ryan's league-best run defense, but desperate PPR owners can execute a plug-n-play strategy at their flex spot.

Marcel Reece rushed five times for 14 yards and caught four passes for 44 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's Week 12 loss to the Titans.

Reece thought he had a game-winner when he caught a 27-yard touchdown from Matt McGloin with 6:17 to go. But the Titans went on a game-winning drive to squeeze out a 23-19 win. Any owner thinking about chasing Reece's numbers from this one should note that he had just 17 carries and 17 catches through the first 10 games. He's a far better real-life player than fantasy asset.

Marcel Reece rushed four times for six yards and caught two passes for 17 yards in Sunday's Week 11 win at Houston.

Even with Darren McFadden (hamstring) down, Reece has not earned a real piece of the running game. He also had a really bad drop on a perfectly thrown ball from Matt McGloin in the first half. Reece shouldn't be on any fantasy rosters.
