ESPN's Adam Schefter expects Tim Tebow to be the Patriots No. 3 quarterback and inactive for most games this season.
Schefter senses that Tebow will make the final roster, but he describes a developmental quarterback role. We'll probably have to wait until preseason games to find out exactly what Bill Belichick has in mind. For now, there's no tangible evidence that Tebow will be asked to help at tight end. Coach Bill Belichick declined Tuesday to comment on what position Tim Tebow will play.

As expected, Belichick revealed no information and gave no insight into the Tebow signing. "What position? We're going to do what's best for the football team," Belichick said. He cut the press conference off on his own after getting fed up with too many Tebow questions. "Tim's a talented player that's smart and works hard. We'll see how it goes." ESPN is reporting that Tebow was signed to play quarterback. CBS' Mike Freeman says he'll be used elsewhere in addition to under center. There are 2014 playing time incentives in Tebow's non-guaranteed contract that are not limited to quarterback snaps.

Tim Tebow's two-year contract with the Patriots contains no guaranteed money, signing bonus or 2013 incentives.

A couple weeks ago, Tebow's only suitors were the Philadelphia Soul (as a backup), Omaha Beef and the CFL. So it's no surprise that he's settled for a team-friendly deal in New England. Officially, it's a two-year, $1.36 million contract. The Patriots can cut him at any time without any financial implications to their salary cap or wallet. Meanwhile, ESPN's Adam Schefter reiterates that Tebow will play quarterback, but Tom Brady "will not lose a play." Tebow was not signed to run the Wildcat.

ESPN's Mike Reiss confirms that "no one should be surprised" if Tim Tebow isn't on the Patriots' final roster.

Contract details aren't available yet, but we're expecting a one-year deal for the fourth-year minimum. That would make it very easy for the Patriots to simply move on if they don't like what they see from Tebow. Reiss also confirms that the team remains "high" on backup Ryan Mallett. Coach Bill Belichick is set to address the media at 10:45 a.m. ET on Tuesday.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen confirms Tim Tebow will be a quarterback with the Patriots.

Per Mort, Tebow will enter Tuesday's minicamp as New England's third-string QB, behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett. Despite previous rumors otherwise, Tebow is not being tried at tight end, although it would be in Tebow's best interests to be open to playing any position. He's avoided trying tight end in the past. Obviously, Tebow is not going to be a major threat for playing time behind future Hall of Famer Brady and young, strong-armed backup Mallett. The Pats may be simply kicking the tires on the former Josh McDaniels draft pick.

There are conflicting reports about Tim Tebow's position in New England.

Reported ESPN's Ed Werder on SportsCenter, "I have confirmed that the Patriots signed him with the intent of playing quarterback." Meanwhile, CBS Sports' Mike Freeman reported Tebow will "study a great deal at tight end." The Patriots' upcoming mandatory minicamp will not be open to the media. Don't expect Josh McDaniels or Bill Belichick to specify Tebow's position, even when pressed. We may have to wait for preseason games to have a good idea.

Patriots signed QB Tim Tebow, formerly of the Jets.

To clear roster space, they waived Mike Kafka, paving the way for Tebow to win New England's third-string quarterback job behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett. Tebow will be at Patriots minicamp on Tuesday. The connection is obvious; OC Josh McDaniels traded up for Tebow at the 25th overall pick while running the Broncos' football operations in 2010. We're assuming Tebow will primarily play quarterback, but he could also be tried at H-back or tight end while Rob Gronkowski (arm, back) rehabs. Of course, we won't hold our breath for McDaniels and Bill Belichick to reveal their specific plans.

Free agent Tim Tebow's father disputes an ESPN The Magazine report that his son's NFL career is likely over.

"You are old enough to not believe all you hear," Bob Tebow said. Members of Tebow's "camp" reportedly "privately admitted" that the 25-year-old's NFL career was over. We're not quite ready to close the book on Tebow, but he hasn't drawn any interest since the Jets cut him at the end of April.

According to ESPN The Magazine, members of free agent Tim Tebow's camp "privately admit" Tebow's NFL career is likely over.

Just 18 months removed from a stunning playoff win over the Steelers, Tebow has been written off by NFL teams in large part due to his unwillingness to change positions. "He's not a quarterback," said one NFC scout. "When you look at his run two years ago, when you watch the tape and break it down, he wasn't really doing anything that impressive. He's a tough guy, a great leader, a great person. But he isn't a good enough quarterback to have all the distractions that come with him." And that just about sums it up.

The Browns are the latest team to deny interest in free agent Tim Tebow.

"Unfortunately, Tim has to get somewhere where he can develop his skills as a passer. Because in the NFL, it's a passing league," GM Mike Lombardi said. "And when you commit to Tim, like Denver did the last eight games of the season when Tim was playing, you're committing to that whole style of play. It's all or nothing and that becomes very difficult and that's kind of not the vision of where we're headed." The Browns will roll with Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell this year, while keeping an eye out on the 2014 quarterback draft class.

The Philadelphia Soul have offered Tim Tebow a job as their backup quarterback.

This one is interesting because former Eagles quarterback and top-notch analyst Ron Jaworski is a co-owner of the Soul. He sent Tebow some plays he had in mind for him, mostly around the goal line. "One [criticism] of Tebow is that he is slow and methodical," Jaws said. "He would be forced to quicken it up in this league and it would be good training for him. You can learn a lot in this league. It's about processing information and getting the ball out...or you get whacked." Jaws did make it clear that Dan Raudabaugh would remain the Soul's starting quarterback no matter what. Tebow has zero known NFL suitors.
May 14 - 9:54 AM

A source tells Yahoo Sports that Patriots coach Bill Belichick "hates" Tim Tebow as a player.

Even though Patriots OC Josh McDaniels drafted Tebow 25th overall in Denver, a reunion isn't happening. Flawed mechanics aren't the only reason Tebow has zero NFL suitors. "He seems like a great guy to have on a team, and I'd be tempted to bring him in as our backup," one NFC head coach told Yahoo. "But it's just not worth dealing with all the stuff that comes with it." Tebowmania strikes again.
May 9 - 9:43 AM

GM David Caldwell once again reiterated that the Jaguars have zero interest in free agent Tim Tebow.

We're not sure how many more ways Caldwell can say he doesn't want Tebow. He told the owner during the interview process, he told the media at his introductory press conference and he's told the fans. That hasn't stopped an online petition from forming, telling him "to stop ignoring the Jaguars fans and sign Tim Tebow!"

Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole reports free agent Tim Tebow would like to go to a team where he can sit and learn behind a great quarterback and coach.

There aren't many openings that meet Tebow's requests. Cole named the Saints as a "perfect" spot just as an example. Two other teams with an entrenched quarterback and winning coach are the Packers and Patriots. We wouldn't suspect Green Bay or New Orleans would be interested, but New England could be if Tebow is willing to broaden his horizons and learn a different position.
May 2 - 2:51 PM

Agent Drew Rosenhaus said he "wouldn't be shocked" if the Dolphins signed free agent Tim Tebow.

Rosenhaus is based in South Florida and believes owner Stephen Ross is a fan of Tebow's. He also noted Ross' interest in marketing the Dolphins. If the Dolphins do give Tebow a look, it will have to be as a gadget player. He has no shot of beating out Matt Moore or even Pat Devlin for a backup role.
