Vikings placed CB Captain Munnerlyn (hamstring) on the active/PUP list.

Joining him there are TE Chase Ford and S Andrew Sendejo. Munnerlyn isn't expected to be out long after tweaking his hamstring. We'll consider him day-to-day. Munnerlyn will start opposite Xavier Rhodes in the base defense, and likely shift to the slot in sub-packages. He inked a three-year deal in March.
Jul 25 - 12:49 PM

Vikings signed CB Captain Munnerlyn to a three-year, $11.25 million contract with $4.45 million guaranteed.

Munnerlyn is obviously stretched outside at 5-foot-8 and 195 pounds, but he's one of the best slot corners in the game. Still only 26 -- he turns next month -- Munnerlyn turned in a breakout 2013 campaign as a 16-game starter, setting career highs in tackles (74), sacks (3.5), and pass breakups (12). He has four pick sixes over the past two seasons. Look for Munnerlyn to start outside on early downs and cover the slot in Mike Zimmer's nickel package.
Mar 13 - 6:03 PM

The Panthers have yet to make a contract offer to free agent Captain Munnerlyn.

The Panthers are either perfectly content to let Munnerlyn walk, or let the market establish his value, as they did in 2013. Munnerlyn has visits lined up with the Vikings, Bucs and Jets, and appears unlikely to return to Carolina.
Mar 12 - 11:07 PM

The Charlotte Observer reports free agent CB Captain Munnerlyn will visit the Jets and Bucs after the Vikings.

That's if Munnerlyn gets away from the Vikings, who are in dire need of cornerback help -- especially a nickel corner like Munnerlyn. With a number of the top corners off the market, guys like Munnerlyn should start getting more play.
Mar 12 - 8:25 PM

Free agent Captain Munnerlyn will visit the Vikings.

The Vikings are in search of a slot corner to provide an upgrade on Josh Robinson. Munnerlyn would bring 50 starts of experience to the table. He's among the top-six corners still available.
Mar 12 - 5:13 PM

The Jets have inquired about free agent CB Captain Munnerlyn.

With Darrelle Revis in Tampa and Antonio Cromartie on the street, a position of strength has become a position of need for Rex Ryan. The Jets appear ready to open up their wallets, as they've also been linked to Alterraun Verner.
Mar 10 - 10:49 AM

Free agent CB Captain Munnerlyn is expected to reach free agency.

Munnerlyn is coming off a career year, but the cap-strapped Panthers are going to let the market dictate his value. Reporter Joseph Person believes he could ultimately re-sign with Carolina on a team-friendly deal. Munnerlyn was an every-down player in 2013, but kicked inside in nickel packages.
Feb 27 - 7:12 PM

ESPN.com's Mike Triplett lists free agent CB Captain Munnerlyn as a possible target of the Saints.

The Saints need a No. 2 corner behind Keenan Lewis and could look to steal Munnerlyn away from the Panthers. New Orleans currently lacks depth at cornerback after cutting Jabari Greer and Patrick Robinson remains a potential salary-cap casualty. Munnerlyn is expected to begin contract talks with Carolina at the Combine next week and could be re-signed before free agency.

Feb 15 - 3:17 PM

The player rep for free agent CB Captain Munnerlyn is scheduled to meet with Panthers officials at the Combine next week.

Munnerlyn was the best player in Carolina's 2013 secondary, grading out as PFF's No. 11 corner. He figures to seek a multi-year deal after playing last season on a one-year contract, and could be re-signed before free agency. The Panthers are also expected to make re-signing FS Mike Mitchell a priority.
Feb 14 - 5:31 PM

Impending free agent CB Captain Munnerlyn said he'd be open to a one-year deal from the Panthers if the price is right.

The Carolinas are home for Munnerlyn as he played his college ball at South Carolina and then was drafted by the Panthers in the seventh round of the 2009 draft. He finally put it all together this season, starting every game and grading out as PFF's No. 11 corner while playing on a one-year, $1.1 million contract. Munnerlyn needs to strike while the iron is hot, so don't expect his agent to be giving out any hometown discounts.
Jan 14 - 8:59 AM

Panthers CB Captain Munnerlyn's three sacks plus two touchdowns led all defensive backs in 2013.

Munnerlyn re-upped with the Panthers on a one-year contract in the spring and has been the linchpin of Carolina's defensive backfield. He plays every down, starting on the outside and moving into the slot in the Panthers' nickel package. Pro Football Focus has graded Munnerlyn out as a top-11 corner this season. He should see a lot of Anquan Boldin on Sunday.
Jan 8 - 5:49 PM

Panthers CB Captain Munnerlyn (abdominal strain) is expected to be sidelined until training camp.

"I think I’m done (for the rest of the spring," Munnerlyn said Thursday. "It’s up the trainers. I feel good, I feel like I could go but they don’t want me to make it worse so I might just be sitting it out until training camp." Munnerlyn's injury could require surgery if he aggravates it. Munnerlyn will compete with D.J. Moore for slot duties once he's back on the field.

Panthers re-signed CB Captain Munnerlyn to a one-year contract.

"I'm staying a Carolina Panthers!," Munnerlyn announced on Twitter. The soon-to-be 25-year-old recorded 61 tackles, nine pass breakups, and two interceptions last season. It's a big signing for the Panthers, who are scratching for every dollar right now. Carolina now has six corners under contract for 2013. If the season were to start today, Drayton Florence and Josh Norman would likely start on the outside with Munnerlyn covering the slot.

The Charlotte Observer reports the Bears have offered free agent CB Captain Munnerlyn a one-year deal, but that the Panthers "might try to match it."

The Bears need a new nickel corner after losing D.J. Moore to the Panthers, though free agent Kelvin Hayden — who replaced Moore down the stretch last season — could still be an option. Munnerlyn would presumably compete with Moore if he stayed in Carolina.
