Bears agreed to terms with G/T Eben Britton, formerly of the Jaguars.
The 2009 second-round pick has experience at both guard and tackle, but has proven to be severely injury prone, and was benched in favor of undrafted rookie Mike Brewster at left guard last season. Free agent G/T Eben Britton worked out for the Seahawks.

Britton started 30 games over four years with Jacksonville, but proved to be injury prone and was benched for ineffectiveness midway through last season. He's not the answer to the Seahawks' leaky right side currently manned by John Moffitt and Breno Giacomini.

The Florida Times Union says impending free agent OL Eben Britton "absolutely" will not be back with the Jaguars as a starter in 2013.

Britton started five games at left guard in 2012 and was absolutely destroyed, giving up five sacks. He was benched after Week 7 in favor of undrafted rookie Mike Brewster. Britton has also been rather injury prone since being the No. 39 pick in the 2009 draft. He ended the 2010 season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury before starting just three games in 2011 due to a back injury.

Jaguars LG Eben Britton has been benched in favor of Mike Brewster once again.

Britton was benched at halftime in Week 4, got the starting job back for Week 5 and then was benched again ahead of Week 8. "I felt like we weren't getting what we wanted out of that position," coach Mike Mularkey said. "We felt like we needed a change and I thought Mike did a pretty good job." Britton's rookie contract is up after this season.

Jaguars OL Eben Britton and Mike Brewster will split snaps at left guard in this week's practice.

After missing Weeks 1 and 2 with an ankle injury, Britton was benched in Sunday's loss, and will apparently have to earn his starting job back. Brewster is a rookie undrafted free agent.

Jaguars LG Eben Britton was benched at halftime of the Week 4 loss to the Bengals.

The Jags gave up six sacks on the day and Britton looks like the scapegoat. He wasn't moving on his tender ankle well and rookie Mike Brewster finished out the game. Blaine Gabbert is on pace to get sacked 48 times this season after taking 40 sacks as a rookie.

Jaguars LG Eben Britton (ankle) and RT Cameron Bradfield (ankle) are likely to play in Week 4 against the Bengals.

Both players have missed the last two weeks with ankle injuries. Jacksonville has used a rotation of warm body veterans Guy Whimper and Herb Taylor, along with rookie free agent Mike Brewster in Britton and Bradfield's absence. Bradfield will see a lot of Bengals LDE Carlos Dunlap.

Journeyman Herb Taylor will likely see another start this week against the Colts. The good news for Jacksonville is that the Colts have a banged up defensive front, with Dwight Freeney (ankle) and Corey Redding (triceps) listed as questionable.

Jaguars' LG Ebin Britton (ankle) and CB Derek Cox (hamstring) are listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans.

Britton did not practice on Friday, while Cox was limited. "We’ll work them out Sunday and make a decision," said head coach Mike Mularkey. Mike Brewster would start for Britton, and both William Middleton and Kevin Rutland would see snaps at RCB in place of Cox.

The Jaguars have moved Eben Britton from right tackle to left guard.

The position switch was necessitated by LG Will Rackley's high ankle sprain, which will shelve him all preseason. Rackley played poorly enough as a rookie, though, that Britton may keep the job this year. Cameron Bradfield is now the starting right tackle, with Eugene Monroe on Blaine Gabbert's blind side. C Brad Meester and RG Uche Nwaneri round out Jacksonville's front five.

Jaguars RT Eben Britton was recently cleared to participate in the team's offseason program.

Britton missed the majority of last season after landing on injured reserve in October with a back injury. Assuming he avoids a setback, he'll be the favorite to bookend Eugene Monroe at right tackle.

Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey expects Eben Britton to be the team's starting right tackle in 2012.

Britton played the majority of his 2011 snaps at left guard. He was originally drafted to play right tackle, however, and the new Jaguars staff wants him there. It sounds like Will Rackley is viewed as the left guard, for now. Uche Nwaneri will return at right guard, and Eugene Monroe will be the left tackle.

Jaguars GM Gene Smith is "confident" G/T Eben Britton (back) will be ready for 2012.

Britton has insisted he'll be ready for OTAs after landing on injured reserve in November, and hasn't suffered any setbacks since he resumed running in February. If healthy, he should reclaim his starting left guard job in camp.

Jaguars G/T Eben Britton ran this week for the first time since suffering a back infection in October.

Britton's back is structurally sound after minor surgery to repair a herniated disc last summer. After the setback cut his 2011 season well short, Britton hopes to participate in OTAs and expects to be fine for training camp. "I'll be full-speed ahead, 100 percent," he said. "I don't feel injured. I have no pain anymore. At this point, it's a matter of getting my body back to even."

Jaguars G/T Eben Britton (injured reserve, back infection) said he will be back in time for offseason workouts.

Britton was just allowed back in the team facility this week as he recovers from an infection of proprionibacterium in his back. He'll be on antibiotics for four more weeks. Before going down, Britton was the Jags' starting left guard. The fact that he avoided more structural damage in his back is a boost to the Jags' line for 2012.
