Jerraud Powers has been running as the No. 2 cornerback over Antoine Cason in Cardinals OTAs.
Cason has been a starter each of the past three seasons, but it's not a surprise after Powers brought home a three-year, $10.5 million deal compared to Cason's one-year, $2 million pact. Cason could fall back to dime duties with Javier Arenas highly experienced in the slot. A rangy press corner, Cason is best suited to the outside. The Cards are deep at cornerback one year after being thin. May 14 - 4:35 PM

Cardinals agreed to terms with CB Jerraud Powers, formerly of the Colts, to a three-year, $10.5 million contract.

New head coach Bruce Arians has his fingerprints all over this one. He got a first-hand look at Powers in practice every day last season while both were in Indianapolis. Now Powers will step in as a starter opposite Patrick Peterson in the Cardinals' thin secondary.

Free agent CB Jerraud Powers will visit the Cardinals then Chargers.

Both teams are extremely desperate for cornerback help. Arizona has just two under contract for 2013, and both of San Diego's starters from 2012 are free agents. Powers has a staff connection with both organizations.

According to the Indy Star, the Colts view free agent Jerraud Powers as a No. 2 corner.

Powers wants to be paid like a No. 1 corner, so he's likely going to hit the open market later this afternoon. He's been steadily linked to San Diego, where Tom Telesco is now the general manager. Telesco was part of the Colts' front office when they drafted Powers.
Mar 12 - 11:11 AM

The Indianapolis Star reports the Colts remain in talks with free agent CB Jerraud Powers, but that he's drawing interest from "at least two other teams."

It would behoove Powers to sign quickly if he's planning to leave the Colts, as the money for cornerbacks will dry up quickly in a loaded market. San Diego is one team that might place a higher price on Powers than the Colts.
Mar 11 - 2:50 PM

The Chargers are expected to have "deep talks" with free agent CB Jerraud Powers.

New Bolts GM Tom Telesco was in Indianapolis' front office when Powers was drafted. Like the Colts, the Chargers are needy at cornerback but have quite a bit less cap space to spend. Powers should be cheaper than Antoine Cason.

The Colts are trying to re-sign CB Jerraud Powers before the start of free agency.

"They are making a concerted effort to get something done," Powers' agent said. "They’ve made it clear they want him and Jerraud has made it clear he wants to stay." Powers' rep did add "we’re also aware there will be a market for him." The Colts aren't going to keep Powers for less than market value.
Mar 8 - 10:09 AM

According to the Union-Tribune San Diego, the Chargers "look to be considering a run" at free agent CB Jerraud Powers.

Both of the Chargers' incumbent starting cornerbacks (Antoine Cason, Quentin Jammer) are free agents, and Powers played in a defensive scheme similar to Chargers DC John Pagano's under Pagano's brother, Chuck, in Indianapolis last season. Powers is a talented 25-year-old who's mostly underachieved to this point in his career. He's not likely to break the bank in free agency.
Feb 25 - 7:14 PM

Coach Chuck Pagano is "keeping his fingers crossed" and hopes the Colts re-sign free agent CB Jerraud Powers.

"If he’s not [playing for us], he’s going to be playing for somebody and playing good football," said Pagano. Powers is down the list on a deep free-agent cornerback class, so he could likely be re-signed at a reasonable price. The Colts would be wise to aim higher, though.
Feb 22 - 3:50 PM

Colts GM Ryan Grigson says free agent CB Jerraud Powers' toe is healed.

Powers went on injured reserve after Week 9 due to turf toe and underwent surgery to reattach a torn ligament to his right big toe. His future with the Colts is up in the air, but the team needs an upgrade opposite Vontae Davis. Powers should be ready for OTAs.
Feb 21 - 5:07 PM

Colts CB Jerraud Powers (turf toe, I.R.) ended up undergoing surgery to reattach a torn ligament to his right big toe.

Powers described the injury as grade-3 turf toe and expects to be fully recovered in January. The impending free agent's Indianapolis future is up in the air. "I want to be here, especially with the special thing we've got going," said Powers. "I think they saw enough."

Colts placed CB Jerraud Powers (toe) on injured reserve, ending his season.

It's a disappointing end to a disappointing season for Powers, who finished 78th among 105 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' 2012 cornerback ratings. Powers is scheduled for free agency in 2013. While the 25-year-old has flashed starting-caliber ability in the past, Powers has always been inconsistent and hasn't played more than 12 games in any of his four seasons. For a playoff contending Colts team, this is still a significant blow.

Colts CB Jerraud Powers (toe) will not play in Thursday's game against the Jaguars.

The Colts will be without Powers and Vontae Davis (knee). It would be a concern if they were facing a real passing offense. Look for Cassius Vaughn and Darius Butler to start.
Tue, Nov 6, 2012 12:39:00 PM

Colts CB Jerraud Powers left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with a toe injury.

He's questionable to return. Ryan Tannehill had been exploiting the Brian Hartline-Powers matchup throughout the first three quarters. Former Patriots second-rounder Darius Butler has come on as his replacement.
Sun, Nov 4, 2012 04:00:00 PM

The new Colts coaching staff plans to keep Jerraud Powers as their starting right cornerback.

They must like what they've seen on tape. Powers dabbled with shadowing opposing No. 1 receivers last year, but Chuck Pagano typically "plays sides" at corner, using one at left cornerback and the other on the right side. Powers is ticketed for RCB. The left cornerback job will be wide open entering camp.
