Lions re-signed WR Brian Robiskie to a one-year contract.
Robiskie's release last Monday was apparently only a procedural move. Robiskie — who has just 43 catches through four seasons — will fight for one of the Lions' final roster spots in camp. Apr 15 - 10:10 AM

Lions released WR Brian Robiskie.

Robiskie is only 25 years old and was owed a minimum base salary of $715,000. It's telling for his NFL outlook that the receiver-needy Lions have cut the cord. Robiskie lacks athleticism and speed to make it as an NFL wideout.

Brian Robiskie wasn't targeted in Detroit's Week 14 loss to the Packers.

Although the Lions lost both Ryan Broyles and Titus Young for the season last week, Robiskie didn't appear to play a single snap on offense. The former second-round pick is likely nearing the end of the line.

Lions signed WR Brian Robiskie.

Robiskie will take Nate Burleson's roster spot, but not his place in the offense. Cast off by both the Jaguars and Browns this year, the former second-round pick should be limited to special teams in the Motor City.

The Bengals worked out free agent WR Brian Robiskie Monday.

It's Robiskie's first workout since he was cut loose by the Jags last month. He'd be extremely doubtful to get on the field for Cincinnati's young but crowded receiver corps.

Jaguars released WR Brian Robiskie.

Robiskie was claimed off waivers from the Browns in November of 2011. The former second-round pick out of Ohio State has yet to pan out.

Jaguars placed WR Brian Robiskie (hamstring) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Robiskie is not an impact player, so it's not surprising that he made zero impact during a four-week stay on the Jaguars' 53-man roster. The former No. 36 overall pick in the draft is going to end up having a short NFL career.

In addition to the Jaguars, the Redskins also put in a waiver claim on Brian Robiskie.

The Falcons, employing Robiskie's father as WRs coach, did not make a waiver claim. The Redskins go seven deep at wide receiver, so Brandon Banks' roster spot may have been in peril if Robiskie was awarded to Washington.

Jaguars claimed WR Brian Robiskie off waivers from the Browns.

The Jaguars didn't need another receiver who lacks separation skills, but perhaps GM Gene Smith had a high grade on Robiskie coming out of Ohio State in 2009. He won't be a fantasy factor in Jacksonville's putrid passing game.

Browns waived WR Brian Robiskie.

The coaching staff spent the offseason talking up the No. 36 pick in the 2009 draft as an ideal fit for the West Coast offense, but he's yet to show even a modicum of play-making ability. Robiskie can help a team as a fundamentally sound run-blocking role player, but that was a luxury on a Browns offense lacking big-play ability. The Falcons, employing Robiskie's father as WRs coach, are a logical candidate to show interest.

Browns coach Pat Shurmur had to clarify Monday that Brian Robiskie is "a real receiver" and "not a blocking receiver."

Shurmur was apparently asked in his day-after press conference whether Robiskie is an actual part of the passing offense. He hasn't caught a pass through two games. "I'm not down on Brian Robiskie," said Shurmur. "We'll see how the numbers work out." Robiskie has never been able to get open, and was left out of the starting lineup in favor of special teamer Josh Cribbs in Week 2.

Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi are listed as the Browns' starting receivers on their latest official depth chart.

Rookie Greg Little and Josh Cribbs are the backups. While Little is much more talented than Robiskie, the Browns are rolling with the incumbent's consistent yet unproductive play. That leaves the second-round rookie as merely a "wait and see" roster stash in deeper formats. Robiskie has 36 catches in 25 career NFL games.

Brian Robiskie appears to be locked in as the Browns' starting X receiver across from Mohamed Massaquoi.

Josh Cribbs is currently practicing in the injured Massaquoi's spot. So far, Robiskie has held off rookie Greg Little with a consistent camp. "Robiskie has been very steady," coach Pat Shurmur said. "You can say that a lot about what he is. He's just a steady guy." At least based on his St. Louis experience, Shurmur seems to value reliability over big-play ability. Robiskie may excel in the former. He doesn't possess a hint of the latter.

Brian Robiskie and Josh Cribbs are listed as the starting receivers on the Browns' first training camp depth chart.

Mohamed Massaquoi (foot) will miss most -- if not all -- of training camp, and second-rounder Greg Little has struggled with consistency. We still expect Little to enter the starting lineup by Week 1. If not, the Browns will have the weakest receivers in the NFL. Robiskie is undraftable regardless.

Brian Robiskie ranked dead last in the AFC North in yards after catch last season among receivers with at least 20 receptions.

Robiskie averaged a paltry 1.9 yards after the catch on 29 receptions. Now entering his third season, the Ohio State product has shown almost zero signs of being a playmaker -- or even average NFL receiver. It highlights the Browns' desperate need for speed at the wideout position.
