Broncos signed RB Jeremiah Johnson, OT Paul Cornick, DE Ben Garland, DB Duke Ihenacho, and C Quentin Saulsberry to reserve/future contracts.

All five players ended the season on the practice squad. Johnson appeared in eight games for the Broncos in 2011, rushing for 77 yards on 14 carries. Ihenacho bounced between the active roster and practice squad two separate times in 2012. This group will hope to make it through spring and into training camp.

Broncos released RB Jeremiah Johnson from their practice squad.

Denver is expected to re-sign him back early next week, but the move was made because the Broncos only have 52 players on their 53-man roster after starting tailback Willis McGahee was placed Wednesday on injured reserve with a designation to return. Because Johnson has three years of NFL service, the Broncos had to either promote Johnson from the practice squad to fill the vacated spot on the 53-man roster or release him.

The Broncos aren't expected to sign a free agent running back unless Willis McGahee is placed on injured reserve at some point.

Steve Slaton reportedly had an impressive workout on Tuesday, but the Broncos are more likely to turn to practice squad RB Jeremiah Johnson if they need depth at the position.

Broncos promoted RB Jeremiah Johnson from their practice squad.

Deep leaguers should keep an eye on Johnson, who will immediately take over as the third-string back in Denver's lopsidedly run-heavy attack. Always productive in preseasons, Johnson has not received an NFL carry in his career since going undrafted out of Oregon in 2009. For now, he'll replace Knowshon Moreno on the roster behind Willis McGahee and Lance Ball.

Broncos waived RB Jeremiah Johnson.

It's a positive sign for Knowshon Moreno's (hamstring) availability this week. Johnson was added to the active roster when it became apparent that Moreno wouldn't play late last week.

Broncos promoted RB Jeremiah Johnson off their practice squad.

Knowshon Moreno is officially listed as questionable, but the activation of Johnson indicates the Broncos know he won't play against the Bengals. An explosive back in a short area, Johnson has always looked good in preseason games.

The Denver Post's Mike Klis tells Rotoworld that the Broncos will not be moving back to a full-fledged zone-blocking scheme in the running game this year.

O-Line coach Dave Magazu, imported along with John Fox from Carolina, is a noted zone-blocking adherent. The Broncos will implement a few elements of his scheme, but nothing like the sophisticated system of zone-blocking guru Alex Gibbs under Mike Shanahan. There's no need for a second overhaul of the offensive line in three years. Jeremiah Johnson, signed to a reserve/futures contract in January, is considered best suited to a one-cut-and-go offense. Denver isn't going to offer that this year.

Broncos signed RBs Jeremiah Johnson and Brandon Minor, WR Eron Riley, DE Mitch Unrein, LB Dominic Douglas, and S Nick Polk to reserve/future contracts.

They were all on Denver's practice squad. We've always liked Johnson's talent and preseason production, but he's a better fit in a one-cut-and-go scheme than the power system the Broncos ran under Josh McDaniels and Eric Studesville. His agent should be hoping for a zone-blocking coach.

Panthers signed RB Jeremiah Johnson to their practice squad.

Johnson is an interesting talent, and he's resurfaced in an intriguing situation for the second time in a month. Should Jonathan Stewart's concussion continue to keep him sidelined, Johnson could get a look in December.

James Davis will take Jeremiah Johnson's spot on the Redskins practice squad.

That was short-lived, as Johnson was signed less than 12 hours ago. The Redskins evidently like the upside of Davis more than that of Johnson.

Redskins signed RB Jeremiah Johnson to their practice squad.

Very interesting. Johnson had made quite an impression on the Texans in training camp and preseason action before going down with a toe injury. He has experience with Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan as well as the zone blocking scheme. Johnson is a more talented runner than Keiland Williams, so he could be called upon if Ryan Torain goes down with an injury. Dynasty leaguers should take note.

Texans waived/injured RB Jeremiah Johnson (dislocated toe).

The plan is to work out a settlement and re-sign him to the practice squad. A highly impressive preseason performer, Johnson has been unable to stay healthy through two training camps. He missed all of his first season with a shoulder injury, and the injuries may increase the chances he clears waivers.

Texans RB Jeremiah Johnson's dislocated toe is expected to sideline him for up to a month.

The Texans will apparently hold his roster spot after an impressive showing in preseason action. Derrick Ward is expected to handle No. 3 duties until Johnson returns in late September or early October.

Texans RB Jeremiah Johnson left Thursday's preseason finale with a dislocated right toe.

"It looks like he's going to miss some time," coach Gary Kubiak conceded. Johnson was slated to enter the season as the Texans' third running back. With Steve Slaton also nursing a turf toe injury, Chris Henry's roster spot just got a lot more secure. Henry may be forced to act as Arian Foster's top backup in Week 1.
