Cardinals promoted OLB Brandon Williams from the practice squad.
A three-year veteran, Williams appeared in six games for the Cowboys a season ago, notching four tackles. Taking the roster spot of Joey Porter after the veteran linebacker was placed on injured reserve, Williams' snaps should be limited to special teams if he manages to get on the field. Coach Wade Phillips termed OLB Brandon Williams' pass rushing burst "DeMarcus Ware-like."

"He's getting off the ball so fast that sometimes I feel like it's me when I'm watching film," Ware said. Last year's fourth-rounder missed his rookie season with a torn ACL, but Williams has upside as a speed rusher. Expect him to spell Ware and Anthony Spencer for 10-15 snaps per game.

OLB Brandon Williams' emergence during spring workouts caused the Cowboys to cool on free agent DE Greg Ellis.

There was some talk that Jerry Jones wanted to bring Ellis back for a reserve pass-rushing role, but there's no need if Williams is healthy and producing. Williams, a fourth-round pick in 2009, has upside as a speed rusher.
