Free agent CB Donald Washington has been suspended for three games.
The suspension comes as a result from a July arrest where Washington was pulled over on suspicion of DUI. The former Chiefs cornerback was also speeding, driving with a suspended license, and in possession of marijuana. Washington, 26, is four years removed from playing at Ohio State. He registered 25 tackles in 12 games with Kansas City in 2011. Mon, Oct 22, 2012 06:53:00 PM

Chiefs S Donald Washington was arrested in Effingham County (IL) on Thursday for driving under the influence of drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, speeding, and driving on a suspended license.

Bond was set at a pricey $20,000. Pulled over for speeding on I-70 by Illinois State police for doing 88 in a 70MPH zone, Washington was found to have a "small quantity of cannabis" in the trunk of his vehicle. There were at least 2.5 grams of marijuana in a stashed backpack. Washington has a court date scheduled for August 23. Although this is Washington's first NFL arrest and may not cost him playing time, he was already going to enter camp squarely on the roster bubble. The off-field slip-up may end Washington's tenure in K.C.

Chiefs S Donald Washington and NT Jerrell Powe have appeared "buried on the depth chart" at OTAs.

Powe is working behind Dontari Poe, Anthony Toribio, and Amon Gordon, while Washington has been behind Travis Daniels, Kyle McCarthy, and UDFA Terrance Parks even with both Eric Berry and De'Quan Menzie on the shelf. Washington was the 102nd pick in the 2009 draft. He and Powe look to be on the bubble.

Chiefs placed S Donald Washington (ankle) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The Chiefs head into the postseason as perhaps the healthiest team in the field. Washington, who sustained a late-season ankle injury, is the lone exception. The 2009 fourth-rounder is a reserve safety and special teamer.

Kansas City declared third QB Brodie Croyle, FB Mike Cox, WR Quentin Lawrence, OL Rudy Niswanger, NT Anthony Toribio, LB Charlie Anderson, DB Donald Washington, and S Reshard Langford inactive for Week 17.

Washington was the lone member of the team's injury report. The Chiefs head into Week 17 as one of the league's healthiest teams.

Chiefs declared S Donald Washington, third QB Tyler Palko, FB Mike Cox, WR Quentin Lawrence, C Rudy Niswanger, NT Anthony Toribio, LB Charlie Anderson, and S Reshard Langford inactive for Week 16.

LB Corey Greenwood - who is active - was the only other player listed on the team's injury report. The Chiefs enter Sunday's matchup with Tennessee extremely healthy.

Chiefs S Donald Washington (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 16 against the Titans.

The reserve secondary player has seen time in 12 games this season, starting two. Reshard Langford - a rookie from Vanderbilt - could be active behind starting FS Eric Berry.

Chiefs S Donald Washington was sidelined for the second half of the team's Week 15 game with a left foot injury.

The converted cornerback has played in 12 games this season, starting just 2. Kansas City did not release any information about Washington following the game, so we'll likely know more when they team practices Wednesday.

The Chiefs have moved 2009 fourth-round pick Donald Washington from cornerback to safety.

The Chiefs' coaching staff is from the Belichickian school of valuing versatility in defensive backs. Washington, at 6'0/194, has the necessary build for a free safety. He could unseat FS Jarrad Page if he comes along quickly.

Chiefs 2009 fourth-round CB Donald Washington is expected to be in the mix for playing time next season despite appearing in just three games defensively this year.

Travis Daniels, signed off the street in early November, took just two weeks to claim nickel duties from Mike Richardson. Washington took practice reps at safety this year and could compete for the nickel job in training camp.

Chiefs signed fourth-round CB Donald Washington to a multi-year contract.

Washington declared early for the draft despite losing his job as a junior to then-sophomore Chimdi Chekwa. However, Washington has 4.3 speed and ideal CB size at 6'0/194. He's a project with down-the-line starting upside.

Rookie CB Donald Washington, unable to practice with the team because of Ohio State's late graduation, was the only player missing from Chiefs minicamp on Friday.

The fourth-round pick left Columbus after his junior year and thus cannot join his new teammates until after the June 14 ceremony. There is ample opportunity for the speedster as K.C. switches from a zone secondary scheme to mostly man, but Washington will have to make up valuable practice time.

Kansas City selected Ohio State CB Donald Washington with the No. 102 pick in the NFL Draft.

Interesting prospect. Washington is a burner, but he lost his starting job as a last season, hurting his draft stock, then left as a junior anyway. It's possible he could have position flexibility to eventually play at safety, but joins a nicely forming young Chiefs secondary at corner.

Ohio State CB Donald Washington will forgo his senior season to enter the 2009 NFL Draft.

Playing with heralded senior Malcolm Jenkins, Washington posted only one pick and 22 tackles as a junior sub-package CB. At 6'1/188, Washington may be viewed as a safety at the next level. He doesn't project to be a first-day pick.
