The Miami Herald expects MLB Rey Maualuga to be the Week 1 starter.
Maualuga has been out of the league since March, but knows DC Matt Burke's scheme from their Cincy overlap. The Dolphins view Maualuga as an early-down upgrade on Mike Hull. Maualuga gives Miami a run stopper, but shouldn't play more than 30 snaps per game. Aug 19 - 6:39 PM

Dolphins signed MLB Rey Maualuga to a one-year, $900,000 contract.

The Dolphins need linebacker help after second-round MLB Raekwon McMillan tore his ACL in the preseason opener. As of now, Mike Hull is lightly penciled in as the starting MIKE, but he's a third-year UDFA who has played just 132 career snaps. Maualuga doesn't have a whole lot left in the tank, but he knows the defense after playing for DC Matt Burke in Cincinnati.

Free agent ILB Rey Maualuga is working out for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins have a huge hole in the middle after losing second-rounder Raekwon McMillan to a torn ACL. Right now, "Mike Hull" is in line to be the Week 1 starter. A longtime Bengal, Maualuga was released in March. This is his first-known visit. Maualuga hasn't been effective in a while, but would probably be the favorite to start over Hull.

The Palm Beach Post considers free agent MLB Rey Maualuga a potential fit for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins have a need at middle linebacker after losing Raekwon McMillan to knee surgery. Entering his age-30 season, Maualuga faded into a part-time role with the Bengals last year but could give Miami an upgrade over special teamer Mike Hull as McMillan's replacement. Maualuga should only require a non-guaranteed deal.

Free agent ILB Rey Maualuga will visit the Chiefs on Thursday.

Maualuga was cut by the Bengals on Saturday. Kansas City will be his first-known visit. Now on the wrong side of 30, Maualuga would be a run stopper for a team with little depth behind rehabbing Derrick Johnson (Achilles').
Mar 28 - 5:03 PM

Bengals released MLB Rey Maualuga.

The writing was on the wall after the Bengals signed Kevin Minter. Maualuga was a seven-year starter in Cincy, but injuries and ineffectiveness reduced him to a part-time role (326 snaps) in 2016. His release saves $3.75 million against the cap. Entering his age-30 season, Maualuga should resurface closer to the veteran minimum.
Mar 25 - 3:14 PM

Bengals MLB Rey Maualuga (leg) was back on the practice field Thursday.

It is a good sign after Maualuga got in a limited session Wednesday. Barring any setbacks, Maualuga should be able to return this week.

Bengals MLB Rey Maualuga (fibula) has been ruled out for Week 10 against the Giants.

This has been the expectation all week. Coach Marvin Lewis said the injury is "something he has been dealing with" and the team "wanted him to get it looked at further." It sounds like Maualuga could miss a couple games.

Bengals MLB Rey Maualuga (leg) is not expected to play Monday night against the Giants.

Maualuga suffered the injury before the bye against the Redskins, and he is still not able to go after the week off. Vincent Rey should see more snaps with Maualuga sidelined.

Bengals MLB Rey Maualuga (calf) has resumed practicing in full.

It appears Maualuga is ready to return after missing Week 9.

Bengals declared MLB Rey Maualuga, WR Mario Alford, CB Chris Lewis-Harris, OT Andre Smith, TE C.J. Uzomah, DL Marcus Hardison and DL Pat Sims inactive for Week 9 against the Browns.

DE Carlos Dunlap (shoulder) is active. Smith is week to week with a concussion. DE Margus Hunt is active for the first time all season.

Bengals MLB Rey Maualuga was forced from Sunday's game with a right calf injury.

Maualuga went down early in the first quarter, and was deemed "doubtful" late in the half.
Sun, Nov 1, 2015 02:33:00 PM

Bengals re-signed MLB Rey Maualuga to a three-year, $15 million contract.

The word comes from in-house reporter Geoff Hobson. Maualuga is a thoroughly-mediocre player, but has been with the Bengals since 2009, and provides insurance for Vontaze Burfict (knee surgeries). A two-down run stopper, Maualuga piled up 59 tackles across 452 snaps last season.
Thu, Mar 5, 2015 03:44:00 PM

Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official website believes the team "covets" and would like to re-sign impending free agent MLB Rey Maualuga.

Maualuga is about as average a linebacker there is, but he's the captain of the defense and a physical two-down thumper. He won't break the bank, and the Bengals have plenty of cap room and like to keep their own players instead of wildly throwing money around in free agency. Look for Maualuga to return.

Bengals MLB Rey Maualuga was forced from Cincinnati's Wild Card game against the Colts with a hamstring injury, and will not return.

The sixth-year veteran was plagued by hamstring issues earlier this season, missing four games. He's highly unlikely to be ready should the Bengals advance to the Divisional Round. A two-down thumper, Maualuga was barely replacement level in 2014. He's headed to the open market.
