49ers released TE Cameron Morrah.
Morrah, 26, was signed in April as a potential "move" tight end. Having missed 37 games over his first four seasons, Morrah was considered a long shot to make the roster. When the team drafted TE Vance McDonald, Morrah became expendable. Jun 12 - 5:34 PM

Newly signed 49ers TE Cameron Morrah is not guaranteed a roster spot.

Morrah has upside as a "move" tight end, but he put little on film through three injury-plagued seasons with the Seahawks. The 49ers are still expected to take a tight end at some point in next week's draft as they cobble together competition to replace Delanie Walker. Garrett Celek is also on the roster.

49ers signed TE Cameron Morrah, formerly of the Seahawks.

Morrah, 26, has missed 37 games over his first four seasons, and he missed the entire 2012 season with a toe injury. Morrah skipped his senior season at Cal and ran a 4.66 forty at the Combine in 2009. He's more of a receiver than blocker, and has 16 catches for 194 yards over his career.

Free agent TE Cameron Morrah worked out for the Raiders Wednesday.

The oft-injured Morrah appeared in just 27 games during three seasons with the Seahawks, catching 16 passes for 194 yards and no touchdowns. But as an oversized wideout that can play the trendy "move" tight end spot, he's worth monitoring. The Raiders are in search of tight end help after losing Brandon Myers in free agency.

The Tacoma News Tribune says to not "count out" free agent TE Cameron Morrah re-signing with the Seahawks.

Morrah was waived/injured last August with a toe injury and spent the entire season on injured reserve. The Seahawks like him as a field-stretching tight end when healthy, but injuries have certainly been his downfall. He's appeared in just 27 of a possible 64 games since entering the league as a seventh-round pick in 2009, catching 16 passes for 194 yards.

Seahawks waived/injured TE Cameron Morrah, CB Roy Lewis, OLB Jameson Konz, and DE Pep Levingston.

Morrah had reportedly been battling a toe injury. Lewis recently had knee surgery. Konz was still recovering from last year's ACL tear, and Levingston's injury was not disclosed.

Seahawks activated TE Cameron Morrah (toe) off the PUP list.

Morrah hauled in nine catches for 117 yards in 15 games last season, but isn't likely to come close to matching those numbers this season with the Seahawks using their tight ends primarily as blockers. He's well off the fantasy radar.

Seahawks placed TE Cameron Morrah (toe) on the reserve/PUP list.

Morrah has been dealing with a case of turf toe ever since the Seahawks' Divisional Round loss to the Bears in January. He hauled in just nine catches for 117 yards in 15 games last season, and will be invisible behind Zach Miller once he comes off the PUP list.

Seahawks backup TE Cameron Morrah sustained a turf toe injury in Sunday's Divisional Round loss to Chicago.

Morrah caught three passes for 25 yards in relief of John Carlson, but was noticeably absent in the second half. Per Rotoworld's Evan Silva, covering the game in Chicago, Seattle was so short at tight end that fifth receiver Ruvell Martin had to fill in. Essentially an oversized wideout, Morrah will return as Carlson's backup and Seattle's "move" tight end next season.

Matt Hasselbeck was complimentary of TE Cameron Morrah after Sunday's win, saying the 2009 seventh-rounder "adds a little speed to our offense."

Morrah played the "move" tight end position, essentially acting as an oversized receiver. He certainly has the skills to do that, and proved it with three catches for 69 yards against the Panthers. "If you do well with your opportunities, you'll probably get some more," Hasselbeck said. Morrah's potential TE2 value will be tied to John Carlson's health.

Cameron Morrah caught three passes for 69 yards in Sunday's win over the Panthers.

John Carlson was inactive, so Morrah stepped into a significant role. The 2009 seventh-rounder is a receiver more than a blocker, so this performance isn't completely stunning. Morrah has great speed for his size.

Seahawks declared TE Cameron Morrah, third QB Mike Teel, WR Nate Burleson, CB Josh Wilson, G Trevor Canfield, G Mansfield Wrotto, and DT Red Bryant inactive for Week 17.

Morrah, a seventh-round pick out of Cal, was inactive for all but three games in his rookie year. He finished with one reception for three yards and will compete for a roster spot again in 2010 behind starter John Carlson.

Seahawks declared TE Cameron Morrah, S C.J. Wallace, DT Craig Terrill, RB Louis Rankin, OL Michael Gibson, third QB Mike Teel, OT Sean Locklear, and CB Travis Fisher inactive for Week 8.

Matt Hasselbeck will start at quarterback, as expected. Walter Jones is out, so 32-year-old street free agent Damion McIntosh will start at left tackle.

Seahawks signed seventh-round TE Cameron Morrah to a four-year, $1.791 million contract.

Scout.com reports the deal includes a $40,500 signing bonus. An early entrant out of Cal, Morrah is good downfield receiver who needs a lot of work on his blocking. The Seahawks can groom Morrah as a No. 2/third-down tight end behind every-down starter John Carlson.

Seahawks selected California TE Cameron Morrah with the No. 248 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Seattle already has a three-down tight end in John Carlson, but Morrah can complement him as a downfield threat off the bench. Morrah could've used another year in school, but offers plus speed (4.66) and strength (24 x 225).
