Louis Murphy caught seven passes for 72 yards and one touchdown in the Bucs' Week 6 loss to the Ravens.
Murphy finished second on the team behind Vincent Jackson with his nine targets. Mike Evans returned after missing one game with a groin injury. He didn't play every snap, and with the Bucs trailing 38-0 at the half, Murphy got plenty of run in three-wide sets after the break. Murphy isn't going to produce like this on a weekly basis and isn't a preferred own in 12-team leagues. Oct 12 - 4:51 PM

Louis Murphy caught three passes for 35 yards and one touchdown in the Bucs' Week 5 loss to the Saints.

Murphy was targeted seven times as the No. 2 receiver in place of an injured Mike Evans. He has plenty of chemistry with Mike Glennon, and the two hooked up for a 20-yard score just before halftime. Murphy did a great job of keeping both feet in bounds on the play. He'll run most of his routes against Lardarius Webb and Asa Jackson next week at home against Baltimore, but will be nothing more than a desperation WR4/5 play.
Oct 5 - 6:08 PM

Louis Murphy will start in Week 5 against the Saints.

Murphy had six catches for 99 yards on 11 targets last week and projects for an increased role with Mike Evans sidelined. He's worth a look as a matchup play against a Saints defense that's giving up the fourth-most passing yards, but is nothing more than a desperation WR4/5.
Oct 4 - 6:02 PM

Louis Murphy projects for a increased role with Mike Evans (groin) out 2-3 weeks.

Murphy was with the Bucs in the preseason, catching eight passes for 99 yards on 97 snaps. He briefly lost his roster spot due to a back injury, but was re-signed ahead of Week 4 and came on for a 6-99-0 line on a team-high 11 targets. Now he projects as the No. 2 wideout opposite Vincent Jackson, ahead of special teamer Russell Shepard and rookie slot man Robert Herron. Murphy will be a desperation WR4/5 against the Saints in Week 5.
Sep 29 - 12:09 PM

Louis Murphy caught 6-of-11 targets for 99 yards in Tampa Bay's Week 4 win over the Steelers.

Re-signed off the street five days ago, Murphy inexplicably led the Bucs in receiving. It's not a fluke he should repeat going forward, but Murphy could start opposite Vincent Jackson in Week 5 if Mike Evans (groin) isn't ready to go. Murphy is off the radar in 12-14 team leagues.
Sep 28 - 7:02 PM

Bucs re-signed WR Louis Murphy.

WR Chris Owusu was waived in a corresponding roster move. Murphy was released before Week 1 as he recovered from a back injury. He'll bring up the rear of the Bucs' receiver corps.
Sep 23 - 5:58 PM

Bucs released WR Louis Murphy.

Murphy is dealing with a back injury and had already been ruled out for Week 1. The Bucs promoted WR/KR Solomon Patton from the practice squad to replace him on the active roster.
Sep 6 - 5:08 PM

Louis Murphy (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers.

The Bucs' No. 5 receiver, Murphy wouldn't of had a role even if active this week. Chris Owusu will start in the slot, with rookie Robert Herron mixing in.
Sep 5 - 7:19 PM

Louis Murphy has "the inside track" on the Bucs' No. 3 receiver job.

Murphy "performed at a high level" during OTAs with Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans sidelined. He's competing with Chris Owusu and sixth-round WR Robert Herron for the slot role in Jeff Tedford's offense. Murphy's veteran status gives him the early edge, but there's a good chance that could change once training camp is over. 27-year-old Murphy caught just six passes for 37 yards in 14 games with the Giants last season.
Jul 19 - 7:01 PM

Bucs WR Louis Murphy "performed at a very high level" during OTAs.

Murphy worked with the first-team offense with Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans sidelined. He's in the mix for the Bucs' slot receiver job along with Chris Owusu, who has drawn praise from Lovie Smith on multiple occasions. Sixth-round pick Robert Herron "needs time to develop" and could be limited to special teams.
Jun 28 - 3:22 PM

Buccaneers signed WR Louis Murphy, formerly of the Giants, to a one-year contract.

Murphy, 27 in May, has just 46 catches for 613 yards and two touchdowns over the past three seasons. He's not being brought in to play significant snaps but will serve as an occasional deep threat in the old Tiquan Underwood role. The Bucs will likely look for more receiver help in the early part of May's draft.
Mar 26 - 3:00 PM

Free agent WR Louis Murphy will visit the Bengals.

Murphy spent the past two days visiting the Bucs. He knows Bengals OC Hue Jackson from their time with the Raiders, where Murphy had easily his best couple seasons. Murphy would compete for No. 4 or 5 receiver duties in Cincy.
Mar 19 - 3:01 PM

Free agent WR Louis Murphy is visiting the Bucs.

After flashing some deep speed in Oakland from 2009-2011, Murphy has fallen off the map for the most part. He caught just six passes for 37 yards in 14 games with the Giants last season. Murphy is still just 27 (in May). The Bucs are looking for a No. 3 receiver behind Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams.
Mar 18 - 1:53 PM

Louis Murphy caught one pass for eight yards in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Redskins.

Victor Cruz was inactive, and both Hakeem Nicks and Rueben Randle left early with injuries. Murphy still did not get to make a case for a 2014 roster spot, dropping one easy pass over the middle. His first year in New York ends with six catches for 37 yards and one touchdown.

Giants WR Louis Murphy caught a four-yard touchdown in Sunday's Week 12 loss to the Cowboys.

Dallas' defense left Murphy wide open on his red-zone score. The Giants' fifth receiver -- behind Jerrel Jernigan -- Murphy has two catches on the year.
