The Dolphins have benched FS Louis Delmas in favor of Michael Thomas.
Asked Monday when they made the move, Fins coach Joe Philbin replied "everything." Thomas has simply outplayed Delmas, whom Miami signed to a one-year, $3.5 million deal in the offseason. Thomas finished Week 2 with six tackles (four solo) and should not be of much interest in IDP league owners. Sep 15 - 1:24 PM

Dolphins FS Louis Delmas said he feels the "best I've felt the last four years of football."

Delmas is coming off his only 16-game season since the Lions took him in the second round of the 2009 draft. He's hoping that by resting his legs more and not going full-throttle 100 percent of the time in practice and offseason workouts will allow him to stay on the field. The Dolphins upgraded on Chris Clemons next to SS Reshad Jones by adding playmaker and big hitter Delmas.

Dolphins signed FS Louis Delmas to a one-year, $3.5 million contract.

Delmas, 27 next month, was released by the Lions in a February salary cap move. Miami had been showing the most interest in Delmas and is replacing free agent Chris Clemons with him next to SS Reshad Jones. We're a bit surprised Delmas didn't land more money after a strong season, but injury concerns likely contributed heavily to him only getting a one-year pact. He's certainly coming at a reasonable price. Delmas is more hitter than "center field" type, but will add toughness to the Dolphins' back end.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins remain "very interested" in free agent FS Louis Delmas.

Delmas visited with Miami last month, but left without a contract. He would be an upgrade over free agent Chris Clemons if signed. Delmas has also drawn interest from Atlanta and New Orleans.

The Dolphins are reportedly "very interested" in free agent FS Louis Delmas.

Delmas -- a South Florida native -- visited Miami on Friday, but left without signing a deal. The impactful yet oft-injured safety has also drawn interest from the Falcons and Saints. He'd be an upgrade on free agent Chris Clemons and would provide stiff competition for Jimmy Wilson, who could be converted from a nickel corner to a safety.
Mar 3 - 10:36 AM's Vaughn McClure reports the Falcons have been in talks with free agent FS Louis Delmas.

The Falcons are among the teams interested in Delmas, but no visit has been scheduled at this point. Delmas met with the Dolphins and Saints earlier this week and has been linked to as many as five teams since being released.
Mar 1 - 4:29 PM

The Dolphins hosted FS Louis Delmas for a free agent visit on Friday.

It's the third visit on his tour, as Delmas met with the Steelers on Monday and Saints on Thursday. The Broncos and Falcons have also flirted with Delmas. Delmas' presence in Miami may be an indication that the Dolphins plan to part with incumbent FS Chris Clemons, whose contract is up. Delmas is a superior run defender to Clemons, but Clemons is the better center-field safety.

Free agent FS Louis Delmas is visiting the Saints on Thursday.

Delmas visited the Steelers last week, and has drawn interest from the Broncos and Falcons. With Roman Harper cut and free agent Malcolm Jenkins expected to walk, the Saints are in the market for safety help. Delmas was an every-down player for the Lions last season, but the Saints almost certainly wouldn't be counting on lighting striking twice. Knee issues limited Delmas to 19 combined games between 2011-12.
Feb 27 - 2:52 PM's Scott Brown reports that "nothing is imminent" between the Steelers and free agent FS Louis Delmas.

Delmas visited with the Steelers earlier this week, but left without being offered a contract. Pittsburgh is currently just $8.67 million under the 2014 cap and may only be interested in Delmas on a veteran minimum deal.

Lions GM Martin Mayhew said at the Combine that bringing back free agents Louis Delmas and Nate Burleson "isn't a priority."

The Lions haven't ruled out re-signing Delmas at a "reduced rate," but he's unlikely to be back after refusing to take a pay cut prior to his release. Burleson is also fully expected to move on. "We don’t have any plan to bring either one of those guys back where we’re waiting a certain period of time where we’re going to approach them and try to bring them back," Mayhew said. "But we’ll see what happens in free agency."

The Denver Post confirms the Broncos have spoken with free agent Louis Delmas' player rep, but reports they've yet to schedule a visit.

CBS first reported the Broncos were interested in the former Lion. To date, Delmas has only visited the Steelers, but has been linked to the Falcons in addition to the Broncos. Delmas' injury history means his market is likely to be slow developing, relatively speaking. He'd do well to find a new home before the start of free agency floods the market.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Broncos and Falcons are interested in free agent FS Louis Delmas.

Delmas, 27 in April, visited the Steelers on Monday but is going to continue his tour after this week's Scouting Combine. The Falcons could pair Delmas with SS William Moore, allowing the team to cut bait with struggling FS Thomas DeCoud. Delmas could pair with Rahim Moore or Duke Ihenacho in Denver. Delmas is free to sign with any team immediately since he was released last week.
Feb 17 - 6:37 PM

The Steelers are hosting FS Louis Delmas for a free agent visit on Monday.

Pittsburgh is annually one of the NFL's most salary cap-strapped teams, and may only be able to afford Delmas if he took a contract worth near the league's veteran minimum. We wouldn't expect the Steelers to sign Delmas during this visit. Delmas turns 27 in April. He was a 16-game starter in Detroit last season, but was released last Thursday as a salary cap casualty.
Feb 17 - 2:33 PM's Ben Goessling believes the Vikings could show interest in free agent Louis Delmas.

Delmas would need to convert to strong safety, but could be a fit for the Vikings if they decide to upgrade on Jamarca Sanford. The Falcons have also been linked to Delmas this offseason.
Feb 15 - 2:42 PM

The Falcons are expected to "investigate the possibility" of adding free agent FS Louis Delmas.

Atlanta has pretty clearly soured on incumbent FS Thomas DeCoud, who may be a salary cap casualty. Delmas would upgrade on DeCoud in terms of tackling ability and likely come at lesser cost. Delmas turns 27 in two months.
