The Associated Press lists Mohamed Massaquoi as the leading candidate to start opposite Cecil Shorts during Justin Blackmon's suspension.

Massaquoi was a finesse receiver in Cleveland, lacking the ability to get off jams or create separation in traffic. He started 43 games over the last four years, but made a grand total of 118 catches for 1,745 yards with seven touchdowns. Cecil Shorts and Marcedes Lewis should be target monsters during Blackmon's four-game ban. May 1 - 8:23 AM

Mohamed Massaquoi - WR - Jaguars

The Jaguars are expected to try Mohamed Massaquoi at slot receiver in training camp, where he'll compete with Jordan Shipley.

Massaquoi looked like a future vertical threat as a rookie, but his play speed has since diminished and he's not a physical player. We expect he'll be a tough fit in the slot. As the roster currently stands, Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts are the Jaguars' starters with Massaquoi and Shipley as Nos. 3 and 4.

The Texans offered Mohamed Massaquoi a contract before he signed with the Jaguars.

It's a sign that the Texans aren't sold on Lestar Jean or Keshawn Martin. With DeVier Posey unlikely to be ready for the start of the season thanks to an Achilles' tendon tear, we'd expect Houston to spend an early-round pick on a wideout.

Jaguars signed WR Mohamed Massaquoi, formerly of the Browns, to a two-year contract.

Massaquoi, 26, caught 17 passes for 254 yards (14.9 YPR) and no scores last season, appearing in nine games (five starts). Injury prone and lacking physicality to his game, perhaps Massaquoi could help the Jaguars as a situational deep threat. He averages 14.8 yards per career catch. Jacksonville is set in the starting lineup with Cecil Shorts at X receiver and Justin Blackmon at Z.

The Texans have a glaring need at receiver, but Massaquoi wouldn't be much of an upgrade on recently released Kevin Walter. The former Brown visited the Jaguars on Monday, and has also drawn interest from the Jets.

Since it was Massaquoi's first visit, it was also likely his first offer. Massaquoi would play for near the league minimum as he competes for the No. 3 or 4 receiver spot in Jacksonville.

The Jets have shown interest in free agent Mohamed Massaquoi.

26-year-old Massaquoi has been playing soft on the field for years, in the rare instances he's seen it. He's one of the league's more injury-prone receivers. To Massaquoi's credit, he does run a tick faster than Chaz Schilens.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer agrees that impending free agent Mohamed Massaquoi is unlikely to be brought back.

It's time for Cleveland to move on from the former second-round pick out of Georgia. Massaquoi has battled injuries throughout his career, and hasn't played a 16-game season since his rookie year. Lacking durability and physicality in his game, Massaquoi will be a blip on the NFL's free-agent radar screen.

After four disappointing years in Cleveland, it's time to move on. Massaquoi never topped 36 catches in a season, had two 100-yard games and got severely outplayed by Josh Gordon in 2012. Expect a soft market for the former second-round pick.

Browns declared WR Mohamed Massaquoi, RB Brandon Jackson, FS Tashaun Gipson, LB Adrian Moten, DT Ishmaa'ily Kitchen, G Jarrod Shaw and TE Jordan Cameron inactive for Week 16 against the Broncos.

It will be Massaquoi's sixth missed game of the season. It's hard to see the 26-year-old fourth-year pro returning to Cleveland in 2013. Cameron's absence should mean increased looks for veteran Ben Watson, but he's not on the radar as a TE2.

Undrafted rookie slot receiver Josh Cooper will be active for the first time in five weeks, although his game-day role is unclear. Massaquoi's contract year has been just like his first three seasons in the league; injury riddled and disappointing. He may have played his final snap in a Browns uniform.

Mohamed Massaquoi caught two passes for 60 yards in Sunday's Week 13 win over the Raiders.

Massaquoi saw just the two targets while working as the team's No. 3 receiver. His big gain was a 54-yarder in the second half where Greg Little laid a big block to spring him down the field. There's nothing to see here.
