Vikings agreed to terms with OG Alex Boone, formerly of the 49ers, on a four-year, $26.8 million contract.
It's an indication the Vikings expect to lose free agent Mike Harris. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Boone will slide in at left guard, kicking Brandon Fusco back to the right side. A starter in San Francisco each of the past four seasons, Boone has fallen off since a monster 2012, but is still better than replacement-level. Going on 29, he's also reasonably durable. The Dolphins have had "conversations" with free agent OG Alex Boone.

When Kelechi Osemele signs his apparently imminent deal with the Raiders, Boone will move to the top of this year's free agent guard market. Ex-49ers OL coach Chris Foerster is now the Dolphins' offensive line coach, so dots connect here. Offensive guard is arguably the biggest weakness on Miami's roster.

The Miami Herald reports free agent OG Alex Boone "would have interest" in the Dolphins.

The Dolphins are desperate to improve their guard play, and Boone is a more realistic option than someone like Kelechi Osemele, who is primed for a massive payday. Boone is still one of the market's top guards, however, and should draw plenty of interest. The New Orleans Times-Picayune considers him a fit for the Saints. Boone turns 29 in May.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune considers free agent RG Alex Boone a fit for the Saints.

Guard is a top priority for the Saints after they averaged 3.8 YPC last year. Restricted free agent Tim Lelito should return, but Boone is a candidate to replace Jahri Evans. The Saints have also been linked to free agents Ramon Foster, Brandon Brooks, and Evan Mathis.

49ers placed RG Alex Boone (knee) on season-ending injured reserve.

Boone has been out since Week 14 with a torn MCL. An impending free agent, he'll be one of the top interior linemen on the open market. Marcus Martin will close out the season at right guard.

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports 49ers RG Alex Boone is likely done for the season with a "slight" MCL tear.

Cole insists Boone's injury is not "serious," but it's enough to keep him out for the final three regular season games. An impending free agent, 28-year-old Boone will be one of the hottest names on the open market this spring.

49ers LG Alex Boone exited Week 14 against the Browns with a right knee injury.

Boone originally had his leg rolled up in the first half, but he was knocked out for good after getting the same leg rolled up on the opening series of the second half. He is headed for an MRI Monday. Marcus Martin moved over from center to replace Boone with Daniel Kilgore entering the game at the pivot. Martin has been a disaster all season.

The 49ers have moved Alex Boone from right guard to left guard.

He'll be counted on to replace Mike Iupati, who signed a monster deal with Arizona in free agency. The 49ers' left side is set, with Joe Staley at left tackle and Boone at left guard. Center, right guard, and right tackle are all question marks as the 49ers deal with the losses of Iupati and Anthony Davis.

49ers RG Alex Boone has reported to minicamp.

Perennially displeased with his contract, Boone sat out voluntary OTAs but will be in attendance for mandatory work. Following the "temporary" retirement of RT Anthony Davis, Boone is a candidate to move to right tackle this season. He was a tackle at Ohio State, and Boone should be well aware that tackles tend to command more money in the NFL. Boone is in a contract year.

49ers RG Alex Boone plans to attend the team's mandatory minicamp.

Boone skipped the voluntary workouts at the end of April, but he will not repeat the extended holdout that earned him a raise last summer. Boone will likely play out the final year of his deal before walking in free agency next offseason.

CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reports 49ers RG Alex Boone would be open to a trade out of San Francisco.

Boone has no plans to show up for any voluntary workouts in hopes of a new contract, as he's currently scheduled to earn $3.4 million in the final year of his deal. He'd welcome a trade in the event he gets a long-term contract. If the 49ers don't trade Boone, he reportedly plans to attend training camp.

49ers RG Alex Boone was a no-show for voluntary workouts this week.

Here we go again. Boone held out for the entire offseason program last year before reporting to the team just ahead of Week 1. He earned a pay raise out of the stunt and this time around appears to be looking for a brand new contract in the final year of his deal. PFF's No. 17 guard last season, Boone turns 28 next week.

49ers RG Alex Boone will be active for Sunday's opener at Dallas.

Particularly with San Francisco shorthanded at right tackle -- Anthony Davis is out with a hamstring injury -- we suspect Boone will start despite missing almost all of training camp on a contract holdout. The Niners will start Jon Martin at right tackle against Dallas' league-worst defensive line.

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said it's uncertain whether RG Alex Boone will play in Sunday's opener against the Cowboys.

Boone reported to the 49ers this week after holding out the entire preseason. He's been able to stay in shape despite not practicing and should start in Week 1. Boone can make a max of $8 million over the next two years.

49ers RG Alex Boone expects to start Sunday's opener against the Cowboys.

Boone reported only two days after holding out for the entirety of training camp and the preseason, but stayed in shape. Perhaps he'll check out for a breather or two, but Boone won't be eased in. Boone graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 39 overall guard a season ago.
