The Cincinnati Enquirer says "you would have to give the edge" to Josh Brown being re-signed by the Bengals, rather than Mike Nugent.

Brown was signed by the Bengals prior to Week 14 when Nugent went on injured reserve with a calf injury. Brown went on to make 13-of-14 field goals, including the game-winning 43-yard boot in Week 16 over the Steelers to clinch a playoff spot. Both kickers are free agents.

The Bengals are believed to be interested in re-signing free agent K Josh Brown.

Brown says he wants to kick for a "contender," and fancies the Bengals fitting that bill with back-to-back playoff appearances. Brown's return would obviously mean Bengals 2012 franchise player Mike Nugent moving on.

Bengals special teams coach Darrin Simmons says his Week 16 kicker will come down to a game-time decision between Josh Brown and Mike Nugent.

Brown has kicked well, so there's no reason to rush Nugent back before his calf is 100 percent. The best bet for fantasy leaguers is to avoid the situation altogether this week.

Bengals signed K Josh Brown.

Mike Nugent will be inactive Sunday due to a calf injury. Brown won the short-term gig by beating out Neil Rackers and Billy Cundiff at a Tuesday workout. The long-time Seahawks and Rams kicker went 21-of-28 for St. Louis last season.

Cardinals had free agent kicker Josh Brown in for a visit earlier this week.

After going 7-for-7 on field goals in the season's first four games, Arizona kicker Jay Feely has been a bit erratic in the past three weeks. Feely has hit just 4-of-7 in the three games, but he did nail a 61-yard kick in that span. Brown spent the preseason with the Jets after he was released by the Rams following the 2011 campaign.

Nick Folk went 3-for-3 on field goals Sunday night while Brown was 1-for-2, thus ending the competition. Folk wins the right to kick for one of the league's worst offenses. Fantasy owners should be reaching higher.

Jets STs coach Mike Westhoff calls the kicking competition between Josh Brown and Nick Folk the "most efficient, competitive battle I've ever seen."

Spoken like a true Jets coach. "I've had some great kickers in my career, but no one's had a better camp than these two guys." Kicker could hold value on a Jets team that will settle for plenty of field goals, but neither player is worth a draft pick before the competition is over. Brown has the more accurate leg, and is likely the favorite.

Jets signed K Josh Brown, formerly of the Rams.

Coach Rex Ryan confirmed Brown will battle Nick Folk for kicking duties this summer. Although Brown has been slightly more consistent than Folk over the past three years, he hasn't battled the elements on a regular basis since signing with the Rams in 2008. The two have been fairly even on kickoffs.

Rams released K Josh Brown.

They're moving forward with rookie Greg Zuerlein. Brown was due $2.7 million in base salary, and the new Rams regime deemed him unworthy of that price after he missed 7-of-28 field goal tries last season. Brown will resurface, but probably for something closer to the veteran's minimum.

Rams K Josh Brown made a 60-yard field goal in Saturday's preseason opener.

Brown is one of the premier long-range kickers in the game. After making the 60-yard bomb, he added a 53-yarder later in the game. With more 50-yard or more field goals than anyone since 2008, Brown is on the fantasy radar as the Rams' offense swings upward. He's the No. 7 kicker in our Draft Guide.

Rams K Josh Brown (hip) went 4-for-4 on field goals in Saturday's exhibition game against the Browns.

We can forget about concerns over Brown's hip. But the Rams' miserable offense leaves him off the fantasy radar.

Rams K Josh Brown (hip) hasn't kicked since Monday.

The injury to Brown doesn't appear to be a long-term concern. The Rams signed Shaun Suisham to kick in the preseason opener Saturday. You shouldn't be counting on Brown in fantasy anyway thanks to the Rams' weak offense.
