Beckum, 26, played just 23 snaps in four games for the Giants last season, but he didn't record a single catch as he recovered from a torn ACL. The former third-round pick says the knee is now "healthy." Beckum would provide depth behind Brandon Pettigrew and Tony Scheffler.

Giants activated TE Travis Beckum (torn ACL) from the PUP list and waived OG Mitch Petrus.

Beckum tore his ACL in last year's Super Bowl. The pass-catching tight end began practicing this week in a limited fashion, so it's a bit of a surprise activation. Beckum will slot in behind Martellus Bennett, so there's no fantasy value here. Petrus has been with the Giants since they took him in the fifth round of the 2010 Draft.

Giants TE Travis Beckum (ACL surgery) declined to put a target date on his return.

Beckum tore his right ACL in the first half of the Super Bowl. "If I were to say I wanted to be back by Week 1, that's putting pressure on myself," he said. "And I think that's what happens with these guys. They want to get back too soon, put the pressure on themselves, then come back and re-tear it. I'm going to try to be smart about it." Beckum is a candidate for reserve/PUP, which would rule him out of the first six regular season games.
