ESPN New York confirms that Andre Brown is expected to be the Giants' goal-line back.
Brown seized the role last year, scoring eight touchdowns in just 10 games. Seven of those scores came in goal-to-go situations. Brown will serve as a handcuff to David Wilson, and will also give touchdown-seeking fantasy owners standalone value. May 29 - 11:00 AM

Giants re-signed RB Andre Brown to a one-year, $2.023 million contract.

Brown was never a threat to demand anything more than the one-year tender he received as a restricted free agent. He'll play this year out as the short-yardage thunder to David Wilson's lightning and then hit unrestricted free agency. Brown burst onto the fantasy radar with eight touchdowns in 10 games before breaking his leg last season. He projects as a handcuff that will hold some standalone value in touchdown-heavy formats.
Apr 23 - 11:56 AM

Restricted free agent Andre Brown said Tuesday that his goal is to score 22 touchdowns this season.

Brown is clearly under the impression that he'll remain the Giants' goal-line back. "Third-down back, pass protection, goal line, short yardage – all that," he said. "I can't wait to do it." Last year, Brown scored eight touchdowns in 10 games before fracturing his fibula. Now fully healthy, he'll be an ideal complement to explosive feature back David Wilson.
Apr 17 - 8:23 AM

Unsigned restricted free agent RB Andre Brown reported for the start of the offseason program Monday.

Per ProFootballTalk, Brown signed an injury protection agreement that allowed him to work out without a contract. His presence at the "voluntary" session is confirmation that his broken leg is fully healed and that he won't be making a stink about his one-year, $2.02M tender. Brown projects as the thunder to David Wilson's lightning in the Giants' backfield this season.
Apr 16 - 8:45 AM

Giants RB Andre Brown has switched agents and is now represented by Drew Rosenhaus.

Brown will play out the 2013 season on his $2.02 million restricted free agent tender. But he'll be an unrestricted free agent in 2014, and will almost certainly be looking to sign with the highest bidder. Brown burst onto the scene last year with 385 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games before breaking his leg.
Apr 9 - 10:30 AM

Giants assigned restricted free agent RB Andre Brown a second-round tender.

Brown will be due $2.02 million once he signs on the dotted line. It's a fair price for a player expected to open the season as the Giants' short-yardage and goal-line back. In a perfect world for the G-Men, Brown would settle in as a complementary player as David Wilson puts a grip on feature duties.
Mar 11 - 2:17 PM

The Giants reportedly intend to let Andre Brown "split carries" with David Wilson in their 2013 backfield.

Brown is a restricted free agent and the NY Daily News anticipates the Giants tendering him at the second-round level ($2.02 million). Brown definitely projects as a short-yardage pounder, although his 2013 workload will be dependent on Wilson's development. Wilson has talent to run away with the feature-back job.
Mar 11 - 12:08 PM

Restricted free agent RB Andre Brown says he's preparing to be the Giants' starting running back.

Recovering from a broken leg, Brown doesn't sound worried about his health. "That’s the dream job right there, to go out there and start and play for the New York Giants," he said. "I’m going to put as much work as I need to put in to prepare for that role." David Wilson is certainly the favorite to lead the Giants' 2013 backfield in touches, but Brown is much stronger in pass protection at this stage of the game, and should open the year as the goal-line back. He's going to have fantasy value if he can stay on the field.
Feb 15 - 10:31 AM

The Giants are expected to bring back restricted free agent RB Andre Brown.

Before breaking his leg in Week 12, Brown was a revelation for the Giants. The physical power back averaged 5.27 yards per carry and scored eight TDs in just 10 games. If the Giants give Brown an original-round one-year tender, the 2009 fourth-rounder would earn $1.323 million in 2013. A second-round tender would cost $2.023 million. If potential cap casualty Ahmad Bradshaw ends up sticking, expect a three-man committee that also features explosive prospect David Wilson.

Giants RB Andre Brown (IR/designated for return) says he's on pace to be ready in time for the Super Bowl.

Brown isn't eligible to come off injured reserve until the week before the Super Bowl. He made that clear to his teammates on Monday. "I was just like, 'Hey, I want to [expletive] play,'" Brown said. "That's it. Get me there, and I'll take care of the rest. Ya'll got to fight for me." Brown still leads the Giants with eight rushing touchdowns even though he's missed the last three games.

Updating a previous item, Giants RB Andre Brown (broken left fibula) has been placed on I.R./designated for return.

The Giants haven't used their I.R./designated for return mechanism, so they may as well here in hopes of having Brown back for the Super Bowl. The tag means he'll have to miss at least eight weeks. Ahmad Bradshaw will close out the year as the Giants' workhorse runner. David Wilson will be the change of pace.

Andre Brown (broken left fibula) is done for the season.

Monday tests confirmed the expected diagnosis. It's a terrible break for a former fourth-round pick who came on strong this season, but Brown should be 100 percent for camp. An exclusive rights free agent, he'll likely be back with the Giants. Ahmad Bradshaw will reclaim goal-line duties in Brown's absence, and first-round pick David Wilson should finally have a regular offensive role on game days. However, Wilson's apparent lack of prowess in pass protection could cap his weekly touches at 5-6. He's still worth a flier in 12-14 team leagues. The increased workload isn't good news for Bradshaw's troublesome feet.

Andre Brown has been diagnosed with a broken left fibula.

Awful news. Brown is out indefinitely, and doubtful to see the field again in 2012-13 barring a deep playoff run from the defending champions. A much bigger burden will now fall on the shoulders of brittle lead back Ahmad Bradshaw, whose foot woes have mostly prevented him from taking the practice field over the past month. The upshot is, the Giants now have no choice but to get electric rookie back David Wilson more involved. Wilson can be immediately added as a potential stretch run flex option, but it will be Bradshaw who takes over goal-line duties from Brown. Wilson's struggles with ball security and pass protection could end up limiting him to only 5-6 touches per game.

Andre Brown was forced from New York's Week 12 game against the Packers with a left foot/ankle injury.

Brown got his foot rolled up on a tackle mid-way through the fourth quarter, and limped to the locker room for X-rays soon after. Brown appeared to suffer a pretty severe ankle twist, but did walk off the field under his own power. He was having a strong game before going down, rushing 13 times for 64 yards and a touchdown. Brown actually out-carried Ahmad Bradshaw, but that was likely a function of the game's lopsided score. Brown's two-yard touchdown came after Bradshaw took a screen 59 yards to the Packers' two-yard line in the first quarter. If Brown can't go for Week 13, rookie David Wilson would likely serve in a change-of-pace role, leaving Bradshaw for goal-line duties.

Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride says Andre Brown has "earned that chance to get on the field."

Brown played 44 snaps to just 23 for Ahmad Bradshaw on Sunday, but that was mostly due to Bradshaw leaving the game after a helmet-to-helmet hit in the third quarter. "When we've given him an opportunity to carry the ball, he's done well," Gilbride said. "He's catching the ball extremely well. So I think it's more a matter of him having earned that chance to get on the field. And so far every time we've given him a chance, he's come through for us." Brown continues to get goal-line work, and Bradshaw has averaged just 14.7 carries per game over the last four weeks in a timeshare role.
