Colts CB Darius Butler will undergo surgery to repair a broken finger.

Butler has proven extremely injury-prone early in the season. He's already missed time with knee and hamstring injuries, and now this. Butler, the Colts' slot corner, is uncertain for Week 6, though we doubt he plays.
Oct 10 - 7:20 PM

Colts CB Darius Butler (hamstring) returned to a limited practice on Wednesday.

It puts him on track to return Sunday against Chicago. Butler has missed the Colts' last two games with a hamstring strain. The Colts cut ties with Antonio Cromartie earlier this week in anticipation of Butler's return.
Oct 5 - 4:15 PM

Colts CB Darius Butler (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Jaguars.

The good news for the Colts is they're getting much healthier on the back end. Vontae Davis made his season debut last week and Patrick Robinson is back from a concussion. Butler is the Colts' top slot corner.
Sep 30 - 10:18 AM

Colts CB Darius Butler is "week to week" with a Grade 1 hamstring injury.

Grade 1 is the mildest kind of strain, but it still puts Butler's status in doubt for Week 3 against the Chargers. Butler is the Colts' slot cornerback.
Sep 19 - 4:27 PM

Colts CB Darius Butler left Sunday's Week 2 game against the Broncos with a hamstring injury and will not return.

Butler pulled up on a second-quarter interception that would have been a sure pick-six. The Colts' secondary is a complete mess right now with Vontae Davis (ankle), Patrick Robinson (concussion) and now Butler all out with injuries.
Sep 18 - 6:00 PM

Colts CB Darius Butler (ankle) returned to a limited practice Wednesday.

Butler's return is great news for a team desperate for healthy bodies in the secondary. He will likely be listed as questionable, but Butler should be on track to play after practicing this early in the week.
Sep 15 - 9:13 AM

Colts CB Darius Butler (ankle) could return to practice on Wednesday.

Emphasis on "could," as coach Chuck Pagano was far from declarative on Butler's status Monday. The Colts' secondary is in absolute disarray, but if there's good news, it's that Trevor Siemian is on tap for Week 2.
Sep 12 - 4:42 PM

Colts CB Darius Butler (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Lions.

Top CB Vontae Davis (ankle) is also out and is expected to miss the first month of the season. Look for the Colts to start Jets castoff Antonio Cromartie on one side and free-agent addition Patrick Robinson at the other corner. Rashaan Melvin and Darryl Morris round out the depth chart. Matthew Stafford, Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, and Anquan Boldin are licking their chops.
Sep 9 - 12:55 PM

Colts nickel CB Darius Butler (ankle) has yet to practice this week.

Nor has SS Clayton Geathers. It's a major concern for a team already without Vontae Davis (ankle). Matthew Stafford's matchup is getting better by the day.
Sep 8 - 5:34 PM

Colts CB Darius Butler left Saturday's preseason game with a left ankle injury.

He's done for the night. Before getting hurt, Butler intercepted a pass that was dropped by Eagles wideout Nelson Agholor. Butler had his ankle wrapped on the sideline, suggesting his exit may have been precautionary. The Colts can't afford another injury to their secondary with Vontae Davis (ankle) already on the shelf.
Aug 27 - 8:14 PM

Colts CB Darius Butler has been spending time at safety in training camp.

"He’s got great versatility," DC Ted Monachino said. "The safety position requires a little more communication than either the nickel or the corner position and he is a pro at that." Butler has been the Colts' primary No. 3 cornerback over the past three seasons, but wasn't effective in 2015. Spending more time at safety would create an opening for 2015 third-rounder D'Joun Smith.
Aug 1 - 3:21 PM

Colts CB Darius Butler has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9.

Butler gets the nod after picking off Peyton Manning to seal the Colts' win over the previously-undefeated Broncos. It's actually kind of amazing the league wasn't able to find a better performance. Butler has been thoroughly mediocre much of the season and allowed 3-of-4 passes in his coverage to be caught against Manning. Butler mans the slot for Indy in sub-packages.

Colts CB Darius Butler (hip) is out for Week 3 against the Titans.

This marks his second straight absence. The Colts will go with Vontae Davis, Jalil Brown and Sheldon Price at corner this week against rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota. Butler is day to day.

Colts CB Darius Butler (hip) remains day to day.

Butler struggled in Week 1 before missing Week 2, but the Colts need him to get healthy with Vontae Davis (concussion) and Greg Toler (neck) both ailing. Indy gets the Titans and Marcus Mariota in Week 3.
