Steelers signed DB Macho Harris, formerly of the Redskins.
Macho has a great name but not much game. The tweener fizzled out as a starting safety in Philadelphia and struggled as a nickel corner. Wed, Aug 17, 2011 09:30:00 AM

Redskins signed DB Macho Harris, formerly of the Eagles.

Harris has the ability to play corner and safety, but he's expected to focus on safety with the 'Skins. SS LaRon Landry is banged up and Anderson Russell is out for the season, so Harris will provide much-needed depth.

Rams worked out free agent DB Macho Harris, OT Kirk Chambers, and LB Kevin Malast on Tuesday.

Harris, a corner/safety tweener, has been available since the Eagles cut him in early September. Malast is now expected to re-sign with the Bears after Hunter Hillenmeyer landed on injured reserve.

Eagles waived DB Macho Harris.

The Eagles did all they could to make it work with Macho, but it wasn't happening. He failed as a safety last year and then couldn't make the cut as a nickel corner this year.

Eagles DB Macho Harris pulled his hamstring earlier this week and is still a ways off from returning.

Unlike last year, Harris isn't getting a realistic shot to compete for a starting job. That's a good thing for the Eagles because he's best used as a third safety or nickel corner.

Eagles DB Macho Harris is practicing strictly at cornerback during OTAs.

The Birds' starting free safety last year and at initial minicamps two weeks ago, Harris is training to become a versatile reserve. Marlin Jackson got the first-team reps at free safety Wednesday, with Nate Allen second string.

Macho Harris left Saturday night's loss with a knee sprain and didn't return.

The safety spot was a problem area for the Eagles all season and they probably wish they had kept Brian Dawkins. Look for an upgrade at the position in the offseason as Harris and Sean Jones are best used in the nickel and dime instead of base defenses.

Eagles S Macho Harris had to be carried to the locker-room after taking a hard hit on special teams Saturday night.

Kevin Ogletree delivered the blow for the Cowboys. Sean Jones has come on to replace Harris, who is doubtful to return with a knee injury.

Macho Harris left in the second quarter of Sunday's game with a chest injury and is questionable to return.

Harris was led to the locker room by trainers and will undergo X-rays. We should all know more about his status after halftime.

Eagles rookie Macho Harris has worked his way back into playing time, handling nickel back duties last week.

Harris lost his starting free safety job to Sean Jones, but his college experience at cornerback comes in handy as a nickel. He'll likely keep the job until Joselio Hanson returns from his suspension.

DB Macho Harris will return kicks for the Eagles on Sunday.

Harris will take over the duties with Quintin Demps (ankle) out. It was between Harris and rookie WR Jeremy Maclin, but Maclin is an every-down receiver who doesn't need to be taking the big shots like he took last week in the return game.

Eagles rookie FS Macho Harris (ankle) is back at practice, but he has lost his starting job to Sean Jones.

Jones gives the Eagles a stronger, more physical presence in the box. Harris' injury was not the cause of his demotion, as coach Andy Reid said the team was planning on making the switch before Harris went down.

Eagles declared FS Macho Harris, RB Brian Westbrook, DB Dmitri Patterson, WR Kevin Curtis, DL Victor Abiamiri, OG Mike McGlynn, OL Max Jean-Gilles and third QB Kevin Kolb inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Harris (ankle) was already rotating some with Sean Jones, so it's not a huge blow to the Birds. LeSean McCoy will get the vast majority of the work in place of Westbrook. The Eagles' offensive line is as healthy has it's been all year, excluding Shawn Andrews (back), who is out for the year.

Eagles rookie FS Macho Harris (ankle) is a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Giants.

If Harris can't go, it's not a huge blow to the Eagles. Sean Jones has been rotating in and should be able to step right in. Harris has 18 tackles but no interceptions or sacks this season.

Rookie Macho Harris has won the Eagles' starting free safety job.

Harris won the job by outplaying both Quintin Demps and Sean Jones. Macho played corner at Virginia Tech but showed he's an excellent tackler at training camp. Demps will still see snaps in the nickel.
