Bills placed C Eric Wood on injured reserve with a broken right fibula.
He won't be back this season. Although Wood wasn't having one of his best years, his loss will be felt by the Bills' running game, where Ryan Groy will now take over at center. Wood will be back at his $4.125 million salary in 2017. Nov 14 - 4:34 PM

Bills C Eric Wood will undergo surgery on his broken right fibula on Wednesday, and will be sidelined 6-8 weeks.

Wood had a screw inserted. He does not know if he'll be placed on injured reserve. Wood would not be eligible to "return," as that status appears poised to be bestowed on Sammy Watkins. Wood is important enough to the Bills' fortunes that it would make sense to hold off placing him on I.R. in the event of a(n admittedly improbable) playoff run.
Nov 8 - 5:36 PM

Bills C Eric Wood has been diagnosed with a broken leg and will miss the rest of the season.

Coach Rex Ryan made the announcement in his post-game press conference. Wood was hurt at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Ryan Groy replaced him with normal backup C Patrick Lewis inactive. It's a huge loss for the Bills. Wood is a leader up front and helps set up blocking assignments.
Nov 8 - 12:11 AM

Bills C Eric Wood was carted off with a right ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Week 9 against the Seahawks.

Wood was rolled up from behind on Mike Gillislee's one-yard touchdown run early the final frame. He was immediately ruled out for the rest of the game, suggesting it's serious. Ryan Groy is now in at the pivot for Buffalo.
Nov 7 - 11:05 PM

Bills C Eric Wood has agreed to reduce his base salary from $4.775 million to $1 million.

$3.775 million of his base salary for 2016 will be converted into a signing bonus. The contract restructure clears about $2.5 million in cap space. The Bills also added a voidable year to Wood's contract. Wood received PFF's fifth-highest grade out of 40 qualifiers at center last season.
Sep 9 - 11:38 AM

The Bills did not have a 100-yard rusher last season.

It's the first time that's happened since 1979. The Bills addressed the need by adding free agent Richie Incognito and drafting Louisville guard John Miller. Buffalo also installed Greg Roman as the new offensive coordinator. "I love the variety of it," said Eric Wood of Roman's new offense. "At times it seems like the O-line’s trying to play finesse ball and kind of just reach you and scoop you off. And at other times, they’re really trying to knock you off the ball. And for a defense, that’s tough to prepare for." Buffalo's revamped O-line will need to open up holes for LeSean McCoy, who figures to see a massive workload this season.

The Bills could ask C Eric Wood to take a pay cut.

Coming off a down year, Wood has a $6.65 million cap hit. He graded out as a bottom-15 center by PFF and is a prime candidate to restructure. The Bills have $16.86M in cap space after trading for LeSean McCoy and Matt Cassel.

Updating a previous item, the Bills signed C Eric Wood to a four-year, $25.4 million extension through the 2017 season.

The deal includes a $9 million signing bonus. Wood's new deal averages $5.45 million annually, which slots him in as the fifth-highest paid center just ahead of the Giants' David Baas. The former first-round pick graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 11 center last season. He'll make $2.3 million in 2013.

Bills signed C Eric Wood to an undisclosed extension.

27-year-old Wood graded out 11th among NFL centers in Pro Football Focus' 2012 ratings. He's a particularly adept pass blocker. The 28th overall pick in the 2009 draft, Wood was previously owed $2.3 million for the 2013 season.

The Bills' offensive linemen are getting in better shape in anticipation of a more uptempo attack in 2013.

"Since April 1 our strength training and conditioning has been completely different than it had been in the past," C Eric Wood said. "A lot more up-tempo, less about functional movements and stuff and more about just kind of getting after it. More sprints and more agility work." It's just the latest indication new coach Doug Marrone plans to push the pace with his "K-Gun" offense, but its success is going to be far more dependent on competent quarterback play than ratcheting up the speed.

Bills C Eric Wood says there's interest from "both sides" in a new deal, but that there have yet to be talks.

Wood is going into the final year of his rookie contract. "(With) a GM change and a big-time free agent at safety that we'd like to get re-signed ... I know I'm not top priority right now," Wood said. "Hopefully we can get a deal done at some point, maybe this summer." The No. 28 overall pick of the 2009 draft, Wood graded out as the No. 25 center in Pro Football Focus' ratings last season. He was better in 2011, but has missed 17 games in four years because of injury. Wood could be best off betting that he can stay healthy and hitting the open market next winter.

The Bills have yet to approach C Eric Wood about a contract extension.

Wood is entering the final year of his rookie deal, but there isn't any rush to extend him given his injury history. A first-round pick in 2009, Wood has yet to play a full season. He started a career-best 14 games at center in 2012.

Bills C Eric Wood's base salary will be up from $925,000 to $2.3 million in 2013 after he hit escalators in his rookie contract.

Wood has started 47 games over his first four seasons after being the No. 28 overall pick out of Louisville in 2009. He played through a torn MCL in his knee for the final two weeks of the 2012 season, but should be ready for OTAs. Wood has proven to be a steady pass blocker as he enters the final year of his contract.

Bills C Eric Wood (torn MCL) is listed as questionable for Week 16 against Miami.

Barring any setbacks, Wood is expected return after missing the last two weeks with an MCL injury. The Bills also expect to have LG Andy Levitre (knee) available for Sunday's game. TE Scott Chandler (foot) is listed as probable.

Bills C Eric Wood (torn MCL) is "planning to play Sunday."

Wood was feared lost for the season when he went down in Week 13, but sounds like he'll be at center against Miami. "I want to come back this week and give us a little spark up front and see if I can’t help our offense get back on track," Wood said Wednesday. Wood was having a rough season before going down, but it's still good news for Ryan Fitzpatrick and C.J. Spiller.
