Redskins signed DT Ron Brace.

The Patriots gave up on their 2009 second-round pick, waiving Brace just before Week 17. Despite ideal size at 6'3/330, he struggled with conditioning early in his career and failed to crack the defensive line rotation in either of the last two seasons. It's a low-risk signing for the Redskins as they'll find out if a fresh start can spark Brace's career. He'll be battling for a roster spot behind starting nose tackle Barry Cofield.

Patriots waived DT Ron Brace.

Brace was a major disappointment and draft mistake since the Pats took him in the second round out of Boston College in 2009. In 39 career games, Brace has recorded just 39 tackles and zero sacks. He is purely a rotational lineman.

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss believes former second-round pick Ron Brace will be on the roster bubble entering training camp.

The 40th overall pick in the 2009 draft, Brace has shown little playmaking ability as an interior lineman while failing to secure a consistent early-down job. Just a role player lacking upside, Brace appears to be the Pats' No. 6 defensive tackle at this point, behind Vince Wilfork, Kyle Love, Brandon Deaderick, Myron Pryor, and Gerard Warren. We wouldn't bet on Brace making the team.

Patriots activated DT Ron Brace from the PUP list.

It looks like he'll suit up immediately, providing backup depth behind banged up Albert Haynesworth (back) and Shaun Ellis (ribs). Ellis is a game-time decision on Sunday. A mammoth run-stopper at 6-foot-3, 330, Brace missed the first eight weeks of the season due to extensive offseason elbow surgery.

Patriots DL Ron Brace needs to be activated from the physically unable to perform list by Tuesday or be placed on injured reserve.

The expectation is that the Brace will suit up against the Giants but a decision has yet to be made. In what would appear to be a telling move, the Patriots released Ross Ventrone on Thursday to create a roster spot. With Albert Haynesworth limited with a back injury and Shaun Ellis a gametime decision, they could certainly use the depth.

Patriots placed DL Ron Brace (elbow) on the reserve/PUP list.

Brace had surgery to repair a torn ligament at the end of last season. A solid run defender, he could be activated when first eligible in Week 8, as the Pats will head to Pittsburgh and be tasked with stopping Rashard Mendenhall.

Patriots DL Ron Brace has yet to practice in training camp as he recovers from offseason elbow surgery.

The surgery was performed to repair a torn ligament, and ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss suggests Brace might be a candidate to begin the season on PUP. A solid run defender, Brace will play more defensive tackle in the Patriots' new 4-3 when he gets onto the field. Brace played left defensive end all last season.

Patriots DE Ron Brace confirmed that his late-season torn elbow ligament required surgery.

"I can't really say I'm 100 percent yet," admits Brace. "I'm seeing progression. Hopefully, I'm getting close." Brace played a situational run-stopping role before the injury. He should be back to full health by training camp.

The elbow injury that ended DE Ron Brace's season in late December was a torn ligament.

It's the Patriots, so there's no information as to whether the injury required surgery or not. Brace is "coming along nicely" and "doing well," an indication that he should be recovered in plenty of time for training camp.

Patriots placed DE Ron Brace (elbow) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The Pats will hope to get Mike Wright (concussion) back for the Divisional Round of the playoffs to pair with Gerard Warren. Brace, 24, finishes a largely promising second season with 23 tackles (15 solo). The former second-round pick out of Boston College will likely return as a starter in 2011.

A source tells Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald that Patriots DE Ron Brace (elbow) will be placed on injured reserve Monday.

Suspended LB Brandon Spikes, who is eligible to come off the exempt list on Monday, will take Brace's roster spot. Brace rebounded nicely in 2010 after a horrific rookie season in 2009, making the most of his limited snaps at left guard. He has all the tools to emerge as a long-term starter upfront.

Patriots DL Ron Brace left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with a head injury.

"Head injury" is often a euphemism for concussion. Brace is officially questionable to return.

Patriots declared DL Ron Brace, RB Fred Taylor, WR Taylor Price, T Mark LeVoir, G Rich Ohrnberger, DT Kyle Love, CB Terrence Wheatley and S Jarrad Page inactive for Sunday's game against the Chargers.

Brace is a healthy scratch. He's been passed by rookie DL Brandon Deaderick on the depth chart. With Taylor inactive, Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis will share running back duties.

An MRI on Patriots DL Ron Brace showed the injury he suffered in Thursday's preseason game was a sprained ankle.

Though details are murky, this confirms that the injury is not serious. Brace has had a great start to preseason after an underwhelming rookie campaign.
