Broncos released TE Richard Quinn with an injury settlement.

He's a free agent now. A complete bust as the No. 64 overall pick in the 2009 draft, Quinn ends his Broncos career with one catch for nine yards in 29 appearances. Quinn was drafted by the Josh McDaniels regime in Denver, so it's fair to wonder if the Rams will give him a look. Current St. Louis blocking specialist Michael Hoomanawanui spends too much time on the shelf.

Quinn tore his MCL in practice earlier in the month. A surprise second-round pick during Josh McDaniels' debacle of a head-coaching tenure, Quinn has added nothing to the Broncos in three seasons. His removal from the roster should still give rookie Julius Thomas a better shot to secure a big role early.

Broncos TE Richard Quinn underwent an MRI on Wednesday to check for damage to the MCL in his knee.

Quinn suffered the injury in Tuesday's full-padded practice, and the results of the MRI are unknown. He's already been ruled out for Denver's preseason opener. Quinn's roster spot is not secure with Julius Thomas coming on quickly.

The Broncos reportedly released Daniel Graham in part due to their belief that Richard Quinn is ready to step in as the blocking tight end.

That sounds like praise for Quinn, but it had more to do with Graham's salary and declining play. After catching just 12 passes in three years at North Carolina, Quinn has one reception in two years with Denver. He won't keep fourth-rounder Julius Thomas on the bench for long.

And to think the team traded up to draft him in the second-round just last year. The Denver tight end position is one of the least productive in the league, as Daniel Graham and Dan Gronkowski have combined for just 20 receptions on the season.

Quinn pleaded not guilty to the charges in September. The surprise second-round pick finished his rookie season 19 fluky return yards and zero catches.

Quinn is not a pass catcher and won't even fill Tony Scheffler's modest role next season. The Broncos are probably regretting using a second-round pick on Quinn last April already.

Broncos rookie TE Richard Quinn pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of harassment and domestic violence stemming from a Labor Day dispute with his girlfriend.

The woman accused Quinn of "grabbing and shaking" her to the ground, then taking her phone away when she tried to dial 911. Quinn alleges that the woman hit her in the face first. He is in danger of NFL disciplinary action.

Quinn, through his agent, "unequivocally denies" allegations that he grabbed his live-in girlfriend and shook her to the ground. Quinn missed Tuesday's practice, but he should return Wednesday.

Broncos rookie TE Richard Quinn was arrested Monday afternoon on a charge of harassment related to domestic violence.

He's being held without bond. Quinn, a surprise second-round pick in April, won't be able to speak with a judge until Tuesday. The Broncos didn't practice Monday, but he may miss tomorrow's practice. The block-first third-stringer had an uneventful preseason, finishing August without a reception.
