Williams was released by the Panthers at final cuts. He appeared in seven games between Philadelphia and Carolina last season. His biggest contribution should come on special teams.

Panthers waived or released LB Jason Williams, WR Taulib Ikharo, OG Tori Mobley, DE Craig Roh, DT Casey Walker, D.J. Campbell and S Anderson Russell.

Campbell and Russell were both waived/injured. The No. 69 pick of the 2009 draft, Williams appeared in seven games between the Panthers and Eagles last season.

Panthers claimed LB Jason Williams off waivers from the Eagles and waived CB Ron Parker.

Williams spent 2011 with Carolina and knows Ron Rivera's defense. He returns as depth and special teams help, but is unlikely to push for defensive snaps.

Eagles released LB Jason Williams.

The Eagles needed the roster spot for DT Mike Patterson (brain surgery), who was activated from the NFI list. Williams played in two games for Philly but didn't register on the stat sheet.

Eagles signed LB Jason Williams and waived LB Adrian Moten.

Moten lasted just one week on the roster as Brian Rolle's replacement. The Eagles will give Williams a shot in the backup linebacker/special teamer role.

Jason Williams will start at weak-side linebacker in place of Thomas Davis (knee), but will be replaced by Thomas Williams on nickel downs.

Jason started two games last season, recording 15 tackles and a fumble recovery before tearing his ACL. The Panthers figure to struggle against the run going forward after losing Davis and MLB Jon Beason already this season. We wouldn't bother targeting either of the Williamses in IDP leagues.

Panthers placed LB Jason Williams (ACL surgery) on active/PUP.

Williams tore his ACL in December and is still rehabbing. The Panthers are now flush with linebackers, leaving Williams as a possibility for the early-season PUP list. He started two games at weak-side linebacker last season.

Panthers placed WLB Jason Williams (torn ACL) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Williams showed playmaking ability in his two games as a starter, but he'll have to fight for a roster spot in 2011 after undergoing reconstructive surgery. Special teamer Jordan Senn is expected to start on the weak side again in Week 15.

Panthers WLB Jason Williams has a torn ACL, a league source tells the Gaston Gazette.

He'll be placed on injured reserve, and the Panthers will sign another linebacker. They have already lost Thomas Davis and Dan Connor to season-ending injuries. Special teamer Jordan Senn filled in for Williams yesterday.

Panthers WLB Jason Williams (knee) could be done for the season.

Williams was downgraded from questionable to out on Saturday. A determination on his status for the rest of the season is expected Monday. Special teamer Jordan Senn started on the weak side yesterday and tallied six tackles.

Panthers declared WLB Jason Williams, CB Chris Gamble, LB Nic Harris, LG Travelle Wharton, WR David Clowney, C Chris Morris, DT Ed Johnson, and QB Keith Null inactive for Week 14 against the Falcons.

Jon Beason is active at middle linebacker, and Jordan Senn gets the call on Carolina's all-important weak side. Captain Munnerlyn, with a two-game interception streak, will fill in for Gamble for a third straight game.

Panthers WLB Jason Williams (knee) has been downgraded from questionable to out for Week 14.

Williams had a favorable IDP situation in a porous Carolina defense, having tallied 7 tackles in two straight. Backup Nic Harris (head) has already been ruled out. Jordan Senn, Abdul Hodge, and Eric Norwood candidates to fill in, with beat writer Darin Gantt speculating that Senn would get the first nod. We recommend staying away from the situation, as it could turn into a rotation.

Panthers coach John Fox was happy with the play of WLB Jason Williams in his first start.

Williams racked up seven tackles, accounted for two turnovers, and broke up a pass against Cleveland. "He did some good things," said Fox. "He made a nice play on the caused fumble, fumble recovery. I think, like new guys, he will get better and better." The 69th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Williams should be grabbed immediately in all IDP leagues for the stretch run. The physical tools certainly are there.

Newly acquired LB Jason WIlliams is expected to serve as a backup weakside linebacker in the Panthers' 4-3 defense

Williams ran a sub 4.5 40 time coming out of college, and he's physically built to be a key special teamer. He's a developmental prospect on defense.
