Patriots signed CB Derek Cox, formerly of the Chargers.
The Patriots are searching at corner after losing Darrelle Revis in free agency, and cutting Brandon Browner. Cox, 28, appeared to be one of the NFL's most promising young corners in 2012 with Jacksonville. He signed a big contract with San Diego the following year, and immediately fell off the map. Free agent CB Derek Cox worked out for the Giants on Tuesday.

The Giants lost Prince Amukamara to a torn biceps in Week 9. They're down to Chandler Fenner and Jayron Hosley as the Nos. 3 and 4 corners. Cox wouldn't be much of an upgrade. He hasn't been the same since leaving Jacksonville.

Free agent CB Derek Cox worked out for the Bears.

Once upon a time, Cox was viewed as an above-average starter. Since leaving Jacksonville in the 2013 offseason, his career has gone off the tracks with stints in San Diego, Minnesota, and Baltimore. The Bears may be in the market for a corner with Charles Tillman (triceps) landing on season-ending I.R. this week.

Ravens released CB Derek Cox.

Initially released during final cuts, the Ravens re-signed Cox on Tuesday. Cox's release likely means Lardarius Webb and Jimmy Smith will be ready to go for the Ravens' Week 1 matchup with the Bengals.

Ravens re-signed CB Derek Cox.

Cox, 28 later this month, was signed by the Ravens last week. He was then apart of final cuts. Cox had drawn interest from at least one other team, but chose to re-up in Baltimore where the cornerback depth chart is churning behind starters Lardarius Webb and Jimmy Smith. Cox will compete for a role in sub-packages, likely as an outside corner when Webb moves to the slot.

Ravens waived/released CB Derek Cox, OT Parker Graham, DT Jamie Meder and CB Sammy Seamster.

Cox was signed as veteran depth earlier this week, but ended up not being needed. He was released by the Vikings last week. Only 28 (next month), he'll search for reserve work.

Ravens signed CB Derek Cox to a one-year, $730,000 contract.

Cox landed a $20 million contract from the Chargers as a free agent in 2013, only to flame out as one of the season's biggest busts and get released after the season. Then he couldn't even make it past first cuts in Minnesota this year. The Ravens will be in trouble if Cox is forced into meaningful snaps this season.

The Ravens have expressed interest in free agent CB Derek Cox.

Cox, 27, was released from the Vikings on Monday. In Baltimore, he would provide depth behind injured starters Jimmy Smith and Lardarius Webb. The Ravens currently have just four healthy corners on their roster.

Vikings waived/released CB Derek Cox, S Brandan Bishop, T Pierce Burton, WR Andy Cruse, WR Kamar Jorden, WR Erik Lora, T Kevin Murphy, DT Kheeston Randall, DE Tyler Scott, DE Jake Snyder, TE Kory Sperry, CB Robert Steeples and WR Ty Walker.

Cox was signed to a four-year, $20 million deal by the Chargers in March of 2013. He turned out to be one of free agency's biggest busts and was released after the season. Now Cox can't even make it past first cuts in Minnesota.

Vikings signed CB Derek Cox, formerly of the Chargers, to a one-year, $780,000 contract.

Cox was one of the top free-agent corners last March and signed a four-year, $20 million deal with the Chargers. He was flat-out awful and got his walking papers earlier this month. With the Jaguars from 2009-2012, Cox flashed No. 1 abilities. If he's to resurrect his career, going to Minnesota and playing for Mike Zimmer is the spot. Cox could start opposite Xavier Rhodes, with Captain Munnerlyn in the slot. Cox is still only 27 years old.

Chargers released CB Derek Cox.

Cox inked a four-year, $20 million contract on the second day of free agency last year and received $10.25 million guaranteed for one season of abysmal play. The Chargers save $4.25 million in cash but are eating $3.9 million in dead money. The move clears just $1.65 million in cap space. Cox was benched multiple times last season. He was deemed expendable for a team that really needs corner help. Cox is still just 27 years old.

CB Derek Cox is not expected to return to the Chargers in 2014.

Cox was perhaps the biggest bust of 2013 free agency. He landed a four-year, $20 million deal from the Chargers, and proceeded to grade out as one of the league's worst corners while getting benched in favor of street pickups like Crezdon Butler repeatedly. Giving up on Cox before the new league year would save $4.25 million in cash and up to $4.25 million against the 2014 cap, but would create $3.9 million in total dead money.

Chargers CB Derek Cox was benched yet again in Sunday's Week 12 win at Kansas City.

It's the third time in four games Cox has been benched. On Sunday, he gave up a 32-yard touchdown to Donnie Avery and then another 36-yard gain to Avery. Cox, who signed a four-year, $20 million deal in free agency, didn't play a snap in the second half. Even when Shareece Wright went down with an injury in the second half, the coaches turned to Crezdon Butler instead of Cox.

Chargers CB Derek Cox was benched three plays into Sunday's loss to the Broncos.

Last week, Cox was benched in the third quarter. This week, the Chargers wasted no time after he couldn't get off a block and slow down Julius Thomas on a 74-yard touchdown catch. Cox, who signed a four-year, $20 million deal in March, has graded out as one of the worst corners in the league this year. Richard Marshall is his backup.

The Chargers benched CB Derek Cox during their Week 9 loss to Washington.

Cox has been a major bust since signing a four-year, $20 million deal in the offseason. He's one of the primary reasons San Diego's pass defense has been so porous. "We made a decision to put someone else in," coach Mike McCoy explained. "We'll do whatever we think is best to make the team win."
